Gaming Destiny | Rise of Iron launch

Yea, I think I'm back in the 'fcuk this game' camp, now that I'm dlc locked it seems pointless playing it. The fact that I'm forced to buy dlc to play anything meaningful makes me want to stand firm and not buy it out of principle.

I've pumped in 80 quid and now I won't be able to do any high level stuff, any nightfalls, iron banner, trials, probably poe too. This is content I've already payed for, content I already own.

I can afford the 40 quid, but why should I? After they've just gone and said 'fcuk you' to all year 1 players who haven't got TTK, I'm going to respond in kind and say 'fcuk you', ain't getting anymore of my money, I'll pick it up second hand and I'm in no hurry.

I'll be back but I don't know when @Damien @freshibal

Excellent. Blue engram decrypted into a 252-light legendary machine gun.

Here's a tip when deciding engrams. If you have more than one to decode, do them one at a time. Decode one and equip it (assuming it has higher light than what you already have), then decide the next one as your current light appears to dictate the light level your engrams will be. The higher your current light level, the higher the light level of your engram item. Hence why people are finding they get blue items from decoding engrams that are better than their legendaries.

fecking mangled that explaination there but hopefully you got the gist of it.

Congrats. Did you use any guides to find the chests?
Wait, what sword are you talking about? The one from lord shraxx quest right? Just kept on looking in rooms for chests until I got 25 of those things you get on the dreadnought :D

Bloody hell. How's everyone got legendary gear all through the pack?! I barely get a drop!!!

Blue turned into a legendary, vanguard + faction ranked up and got a legendary from the packages and a couple of legendaries from strikes and stuff
What packages? Any idea where the best place for legendary marks is? Cause I've done 6 strikes and got nothing! :/

@Damien Sorry, haven't seen your alerts. Just did the Nightfall and after that I got rewarded with a 300 shotgun, so max attack is definitely above 290. Not sure about light, I'm at 289 at the moment.

I've somehow managed to make almost a complete set of warlock armour via various packages. Just the helmet away.

No idea on legendary marks, I just get them from various quests. Packages you get from ranking up with vanguard/faction

Holy shit. How hard was it?
To be completely honest, it was a piece of piss with three guys > 280 and small arms.

And the reason I've kept all the blue stuff is because it's been better in terms of light than my legendary stuff. Haven't found a legendary with indispensable perks yet, so I've just kept levelling and dismantling my legendaries for marks, which I've used to buy gear on my alts. I've only played on my Warlock so far, but intend to level the other guys by buying the 280 armor with legendary marks.

Good strategy. Also, have you been to sleep since the DLC came out? :p You've stormed through!
Ha. I slept eight hours last night. I have the entire week off work. Was supposed to have it two weeks ago but I changed it to this week for, ehrm, personal reasons.

The biggest increase in light came when I was able to grind the heroic strikes for engrams that just pushed me from about 260 to 285.

Yeah, I did a couple of heroic strikes (well, completed 1 and done half of another before the other two quit) and got quite a few engrams which brought my light up

I was thinking about grinding the strikes and switching the engrams to the other characters, but that would've been a really slow grind considering that the engrams increase in level depending on your light, so I thought that the buying armor with marks was the most viable one. Probably not going to be able to do the raid on three characters this week, but hopefully I'll be able to clear a few checkpoints on the main and maybe one checkpoint on my alts or something.

What was the one we did? With that saber 2? Was that heroic?
Just completed 2 quests and the Daily heroic and got around 70 marks. Not sure what to do, save a bit for a legendary primary or use it on armour.
@Anustart89 what would you do?

Oh, and will I be able to get loads from xur with 77 motes of light and 33 strange coins?

got to ask @Anustart89 , where did you get the legendary weapon drops with so much light? And how come you've got rare items with like 289 light? :D
I feel like I'm hitting a little barrier already at 250!

Nah it wasn't heroic. Heroic requires 260 light, though is doable with around 245ish.. takes fecking ages though

Depends. No idea what he'll be selling or his prices

He's infusing his gear. Inspect the gear, look at the infuse node for more info

At 257 light overall now.

Best legendary non-infused item to drop so far has been a 268 The Revelator handcannon.

There really is so much to do. Trust me you're not hitting a barrier at 250! You should be okay to do heroic strikes which will give you the engrams to take your light even higher

I think i played the court of orix it was pretty fun, there was 5 of us, someone made a mistake one round when he picked the hardest mode 300 light and we all ended up dying over and over

Nice! Was worried you guys were running away from me already, and I've probably played the most on here
Not sure if I should call it a night or have one more strike, quest :wenger:

@Sampy93

I haven't infused anything at all! The legendary hand cannon that I got that's at 288 attack I got from a cryptarch package. But it's designed so that you're supposed to keep creeping upwards slowly, so just keep grinding the highest activity possible that'll grant you engrams and you'll get there.

I've also done all the questlines on my warlock and focused on those that gave legendary armor upgrades as rewards and so on, just to keep moving forward in terms of light.

Think this is the first DLC where I've actually taken my time and not really cared about getting my light as high as possible in order to do the raids and nightfalls week one. Enjoying just chugging along by myself most of the time right now. That may all change once I see people actually doing the raid though

Got myself the Hunter Voidcatcher sub-class last night, it's pretty devestating when you hit your target spot on. Been gettitng a ton of new gear as well though the only downside to all this new gear is having to change things I was quite attached to, I bloody loved my exotic Crest of Alpha Lupi chest armour which is long gone now & I just finally conceeded I have to let go of my Legend of the 6 Coyote's cloak which I worked pretty hard to get:

but now the ones im finding are getting near the 200 mark so I just gotta move with the times I suppose, I've a pretty good one waiting for me when I hit 40 though, I got it for getting the voidcatcher so I'd assume loads of hunters will be wearing it which takes the shine off it a little but it still just feels wrong getting rid of legendary and exotic Items for blue ones.
