Gaming Destiny | Rise of Iron launch

It seems ok

If there is only 25 or so levels it ain't gonna last long.

Graphics aren't great IMO.

On level 9 already, got a feeling it's not going to last long. Really thought it was a massive game. Not really into online shooters so hoping that I won't be left with that only to do in a week or so

Heading off it now for the night most likely. Did you watch that whole strike then Swagg? Took fkin ages.

Yeah, but i was half watching it at times because i've got the Holland match on too. It does look really awesome though, i definitely like what i've seen.

Sounds like your going to have to invest in loads of DLC to get the best out of the game. Don't know if I can be bothered with all that.

Is anyone else finding this game ridiculously repetitive? Theres absolutely no mission variation. Even going to different planets doesnt seem to offer anything different.

Also the story really is paper thin. It just seems so unimportant.

That's the style. It's all about clearing areas and finding loot. That's what the whole game will be.. clearing loads of mindless enemies before getting to tougher enemies and then meeting a boss and getting loot for it.

It's just the same as Borderlands.

Yeah but atleast borderlands had interesting characters and a fun story. I mean there really doesn't feel like any progression in the story.

I mean I enjoy loot games and the grind but man this doesn't have anything else.

Yeah true. Story wise there was a bit more novelty and humour to it. The cartoony style probably helped with that.

I'm not disagreeing, cause I thought all these issues were evident after the beta. I just knew it coming into the game and still really enjoy playing it with others despite it. I don't believe there'll ever be any sort of compelling story though, and I don't think the PVP will ever be more than a supplement to the single player but nowhere near good enough as a standalone.

The PvP is a bit meh.

Yeah. For me, the maps don't suit COD style play - everyone running around and whoever sees the other person first gets the skill. It's like that on COD/Titanfall but atleast on there you can own the maps through clever movement and not being in the open much. You can't really do that on Destiny.

Everyone is just a target all the time and you die simply because the other guy saw you first. After what Bungie did with Halo, ensuring long intense battles where starting the fight wasn't a guaranteed kill I was hoping for better.

I knew the game would be like this and I didn't even play Beta. I assume most did. I think it's really good, mostly.

Yep, maps are way too cramped.

Someone might have asked before and if so, sorry. But the "exclusive playstation" stuff that comes with pre-order is something you have to get from a mission right?

Yeah I mean I love alot of it. Graphics, sound, traversal, shooting and group play is all top notch. But I'm already feeling very little reason to push forward the story.

I mean this is a game Bungie are saying is going to have a 10 year life span.

It takes a back seat to the game. They made the game and found a story to fit it. Almost always happens with these social games.

So is this worth buying? I'm going to get Fifa soon so I think I'll just hold off on this until later. Plenty of other games coming out too so unless it's a must have I think I'll pass. The beta was good but nothing ground breaking I thought.

Yeah thats how it feels. I guess I am just hoping for something grander. Also the mission design is just too repetitive to me. I played the beta but I just hoped they hadnt included story elements to stop spoilers. Anyway the production values really are superb.

Missions are a bit repetitive and the enemies don't seem to have much bite at the moment. I'm only level 3 though. I stopped as I found it a little boring on my own.

Sorry man I'd told 2 others I'd play with them just before Jack asked and then you popped on. I'll be on tomorow night about 9ish if you're about.

Yeah almost every quest involves defending the ghost while he scans x object. It's a decent game don't get me wrong, I'd be surprised if it scores higher than 8/10 though it's not going to be a landmark game imo.

It looks like the leveling will be done quite fast, I'm halfway through and I haven't played that much today. It all hinges on the end game, Im not that much interested in pvp (I will give it a try though) and raids aside (needing 6 friends to start it) the rest of the content requires running daily bounties from what I can tell....hmm yeah I can't see that keeping me tied to the game with all the new titles coming out in the coming weeks/months.

Another annoying thing with the missions is they keep sending you back to the same area, the temple on the moon is a good example I think out of the 5 missions on the moon 3 of them send you back there, they could have made this game so much better.

Now it's stopped kicking me I have to admit I really enjoy the multiplayer. Control is my least favourite of the modes, Skirmish & Rumble are quality.

Don't worry mate, I wanted to play on my own to find my feet anyway. I'm also knackered, which is another reason I stopped.

How does levelling up in the multiplayer affect single player?

They just go hand in hand right? I don't get what you mean.

They're one and the same right?

I'm having a blast personally, but again I avoided the hype. The gunplay is solid, the setting is pretty much an upscale halo but I have no problem with it, and I like how im developing my own game play style. The potential is certainly there.

Anyone fancies some coop tomorrow on the ps4?

Glad I held off buying it going by some comments. I'll get it eventually though, but Fifa is going to be my only purchase this month.

Been playing this for 4 hours now with a mate and I'm really impressed. Miles better than the Alpha I took part in a few months ago. Really good fun especially when playing with friends. Think the graphics are nice and the general atmosphere of the game is great. Can't wait to bash it some more tomorrow night.

Yeah, I find it boring on my own too. I was going to join Alock's team earlier but he already had a 3rd so I just went on Gears of War.

You guys should have joined me. I've just done the second moon mission.

Yea I didn't realise you could level up in the crucible tbh.

Isn't this the most expensive game ever built? You guys don't seem too impressed by it tbh. Is it worth chucking £40 on right now?

I think it's the marketing budget that's utter ridiculous rather than the game cost itself.
