I do decent on survival but crap on the countdown one.

Christy and I tried to do the nightfall. On one attempt we made it to the final room with about 7 minutes remaining and still couldn't do it. Boss had a slight sliver of health left. Frustrating.

In countdown my team was 5-3 up then some tosser pissed off so we ended up losing 6-5, lucky I don't now his gamer tag or a strong worded message would have come his way.

Ouch. Yeah, losing one person makes all the difference. In the screenshot I posted in the PS4 chat, the person on the other team left in the first round and we won with ease.

In survival had a 4-3 advantage from the get-go went 2-0 up, drew from a 2-1 advantage to make it 3-0, then it went 2-2 won the next with all 8 lives remaining, then lost a 2-1 advantage (was 8 lives v 5 at one point as well), and lost the decider, :( I am never going to win a competitive Crucible game, back to how I was in the beta a 1.18 KD ratio long as that may continue

Finally got the main story completed last night, could've got it done far earlier but it's just so easy to get sidetracked for hours on end in this game

Gonna be on for a right old binge tonight from about 5 as been in Manchester all weekend.

Wanna run some more Nightfall, do Ikoras extra missions and just generally loot like feck so if anyone wants to jump in later...

Interesting opinion on the game.

I do agree with some parts - it is a rehashed version of the original game with a lot more to do. However, with Destiny, I think the game is just far more suited when you're playing with friends.

On a side note, the sound track is fecking amazing.

I've seen a lot of people say this and many on metacritic have given it 0/10 because it's a "rehash".

This line of thought i just can't understand though. Most people who played D1 loved it and this as a direct sequel would undeniably just be more of the same. I must admit i am kinda disappointed there aren't new classes or subclasses, but overall the game feels improved over the original in most ways.

Pretty much any sequel in a gaming series is going to be more of the same and i honestly can't think of any game that was radically different from a predecessor. The bar was set pretty high for this one, so i'd say Bungie delivered. It's not a 10/10 GOTY, but i can think of A LOT of other hyped games that failed to deliver

Survival with randoms is just frustrating. There is always that one guy/gal in your team who think they are going to be clever and flank the enemy and then end up getting shredded in a 4v1 firefight...then they do it again, and again and again..

Once you hit 265, engrams cap at 265, blues at 260. @neelu91 I think you explained it earlier (me thinks), how do engrams drop at higher levels?

anyone else getting exotics very quickly?? I already have 6 or 7 weapons and 2 pieces of armour.

I couldn't resist, I ended up buying it! Finally managed to get a few hours in last night, currently Level 8 with my Warlock and I'm enjoying it once again... Just like when we originally got going with Destiny 1. Feels a little more polished too compared to it's predecessor, but that could be because I've not played Destiny for so long.

@Damien you can officially greenlight me as active in the clan once again!

So, engrams are useless once you hit 265?

no they are not useless. As your power increases they start to go beyond 265. i.e. start dropping at 266, 267 when you are power level 275/280. But wait! you say, these are still useless as I'm already at 275. They're not neccessarily useless though. They can be used to start to creep up the power on your lowest gear items as long as they have a legendary mod attached.

e.g. Say you were overall at 275 but still had a 270 chest piece (i.e. its a 265 with a plus 5 legendary gear mod) you could infuse a 267 chest piece into it and end up with a 272 chest. It's not the simplest system to understand straight away but once you get it, you realise you can make slow but steady progress.

So I'm going to attempt the nightfall for the first time tonight, any tips?

266 currently so hopefully strong enough. Got the Borealis too which seems to help.

  • Keep an eye on what it says in bottom left corner and if you have the weapon type it says, use it, otherwise use kinetic weapon.
  • Run through a section when you can:
    • Once the fusion cell drops in the first open area, pick it up and run to next area.
    • Once you've killed the lieutenant move on.
  • Apparently arc super for boss is great and brings health down hugely, so save your super for that room and jump on him when it is arc. Should bring his health down fast.
266 will be fine.

Thanks. Yeah, its a little confusing. They really want to make you grind even more!

I hope this doesnt apply to raid and gear simply drops at high light levels.

My boy is going to ask jo join the clan:

PSN - bjhugs

Raid gear will drop as higher than your highest current possible power level. It's always been the highest tiered gear in the game and I'd expect that to continue.

In other news, I was at 270 today when I started the EDZ quest that leads eventually to the mida mini tool. That dropped at 277 when I collected it. I'm at 272 just from getting that.

Ah damn, and you've got no battery in your controller?
It's my revolution pro controller, not even had it that long :(, on the plus side found another PS4 controller but I can only find the worlds shortest USB cable.
Edit forgot it's broken FFS off to town after work then

Sorry just saw this. If you want to be efficient about it, you need to grind faction rep to get legendary engrams. Although they are capped 265, they can drop with a legendary mod making them 270. Once 270, you then do the various weekly rituals like flashpoint, nightfall, call to arms and cayde's treasure chests. Clan engrams also go upto 280 light.

In other news, raid is 260-280 light.

Thats me sorted then. 286 on my Hunter and 287 on my warlock. Maybe push 290 with the weekly reset.

Just managed the nightfall with 5 minutes and 2 seconds to spare... of course I didn't have the rat king quest :(

Managed to do with with 6 minutes and 40 seconds to spare yesterday.... was a flawless run. Its honestly not that bad once you get the hang of it

Anyone here wanting to run the raid blind on launch?

I've been mostly working on getting my characters all up to level 20 so not been getting my light in the 280s.

Warlock - 275 (done all the powerful gear milestones)
Hunter - 271 (once weapons from warlock are moved over... didn't manage to do any powerful gear milestones)
Titan - 180 (L17)

Ouch! I don't seem to have much luck with the groups I'm in. Done the nightfall on warlock but tried to do it on hunter with about 8 different groups of over 30 attempts and no luck. One attempt we got him to about a sliver of health. Ah well.

@Damien if you can get to the final boss it is easy from there. Just have everyone play the same super class (arc worked great for us). Then kill the turrets and don't shoot the boss. Then simply wait to the damage buff moves to the element everyone is using, pop all your supers and nuke the boss. That way you don't even have to worry about him going up on the pillars, or any of the other adds.

Yeah it's about learning where you can run, who to kill etc.

We didn't have a flawless run by any means and nearly gave up as I think we just about had 5 minutes when going on the lift.

Luckily we managed to kill him very quickly with 3 supers.

Raiden Flux + Arcstrider =

Absolutely amazing isn't it. I felt it was too similar to bladedancer at first but it's so much better in every area.

Little tip, do the O,O dodge after a few attacks and it powers up your next few hits even more. I found it to be better than just spamming r1 continuously.
