Dele 'Muhammad' Alli | Walker takes the finger from Dele | FIFA open disciplinary proceedings

He is not streets ahead of Lingard. They are both average. No idea which Alli you have been watching but he isn't any good at dribbling and rarely goes past anyone. He will be at a mid table club in 5 years or on the bench for Spurs.

He scored 22 fecking goals last year. He was 20 years old. WTF are you on about.

Even he was utterly trash at every part of football other than scoring goals, his goal scoring is so elite he'd still be an absurd prospect.

Lingard and AlLi should not even be mentioned in the same sentence. Lingard is a squad player at best while Alli is an integral part of a top 4 side. Nothing more needs to be said.

BringNaniBack just wants to be known for something other than thinking the Earth is flat. He'd say anything. Don't mind him.

Swap Alli out for Lingard in that Spurs side and there would be no difference.

So replacing a 20 year old player who has scored 10+ goals in each of his last 3 seasons with a 25 year old who has never managed more than 6 goals in a season will make no difference.

What exactly is Alli markedly better at than Lingard? Other than heading which I mentioned, I just don't see it. I don't rate either of them highly but Lingard would do as good, if not better in that England team in the same role.

Last two seasons:

Alli scored 28 league goals, Lingard just 5
Alli made 16 league assists, Lingard just 3

Totals league goals and assists: Alli 44, Lingard 8.

But yeah, aside from aqueducts, sewage systems, roads, hospitals, schools, heating systems ... what did the Romans ever do for us?

 Just watched that one earlier today. You forgot wine! Think you are spot on, unfortunately

Alli's best position is as close to the striker as possible, where he can use his instincts and his finishing ability. He's not a CM, and he's terrible when forced into that roll. He's also not really a creator, which is what Southgate seems to want him to be.

Alli is an elite finisher in and around the box with terrific movement. An old school "second striker" if you like - and he's EXCELLENT in that role. England has no creative force to work with him though, like Eriksen does for him at Spurs ... so he's sort of an unused tool just wandering around the pitch. It's painful to watch.

Reminds me of Thomas Muller.

Not often I agree with @GlastonSpur on here but feck me he couldn't miss with this one

Asides from one starting nearly every game as a second striker or number 10 and one being a bench warmer for half the season.....

No it won't make any difference as Lingard would get similar numbers when played in Alli's position for Spurs. He is a bench player for us so the goals scored comparison is a little misleading.

Lingard is a bench player for us because his overall ability warrants nothing more. Alli happens to be a starter in arguably one of the leagues best teams. Any comparison between them is a distinctly one sided affair.

If Alli were a United player we would be hailing him as the best prospect we've had sinse the emergence of Ryan Giggs.

Which of itself speaks volumes. Alli was part of the first XI for a team that finished the 2nd, whilst Lingard ...

 you're just feeding Glaston here. Alli and Lingard are worlds apart you loon.

Wow. Comparing Lingard to Alli. Just wow. Let's not turn this forum into RAWKafe please.

They are light years apart. Lingard is obviously better

You're having a laugh, right?

If not, the cult of Lingard has really reached critical mass on these boards. In his age 20/21 season, Alli scored 18 goals (to go along with 7 assists), playing as the #2 option on the second-best side in the league. In his age 23/24 season, Jesse Lingard couldn't get games over Juan Mata, who was being played out of position, for (charitably) the fifth best side and managed 1 goal in in 25 appearances. I hate Spurs as much as anyone, but to suggest that Alli is anything but a prospect of the highest class is absolute lunacy, as are any negative comparisons to Lingard.

Some weird misuse of players on your part then.

Alli would have lead United in PL goals last season.

Alli also would have lead United in PL assists last season.

It's not like you were chock-full of offense.

Fine mate, go on believing what you want, there isn't yet a pill to cure stupidity so there is no point bothering with it. Also replace Smalling with Ramos, and Cleverley with Scholes while you are at it i suppose.

As much as I think Alli is overhyped he's a million miles better than Lingard ffs. Lingard scored 1 goal last year and had 3 assists for a forward at Manchester United, now compared to Alli that is honking no matter which way you look at it.

I didn't think you'd manage to sound more silly after the flat earth stuff, but congratulations you've just managed it

Just practising his response to Spurs next contract offer.

Haha oh man. I've seen some ridiculous posts in my time here but this is right up there. You honestly can't believe this.

I am not saying he is shit. He's just a bit limited. Great at scoring goals and using his body to go past his opponents, but he doesn't know how to dictate the tempo.
Second strikers have no business dictating any tempo. His job is to score goals and create chances, which is something he's very good at. Ever seen Muller, Ronaldo, Sanchez, Tevez, Shevchenko, Yorke etc dictate the tempo?
I think he will drop deeper when Mousa Dembele's legs are gone
Why would he/they do that?

Don't think it's worse than comparing Pogba's attitude to Balotelli

So he is a second strikers, not a B2B?
