Declan Rice

I can’t help but feel when we lose 3-0 to Everton next season we’ll be questioning why we spent 100m on such a non-technical lump.

And people are still complaining that we shouldn't be going for him.

Idiots.

Exactly right.

He's just scored against a 6th tier outfit, having played 45mins fewer minutes than them.
If that doesn't prove he's worth 150m then honestly nothing else will!!

The only dilemma I have with him, if you can call it a dilemma, is that first and foremost we need a holding midfield player. A Rodri or Fabinho type. Is that Rice? Or is he more of a box to box midfielder alongside a natural holder? Don't get me wrong, I think we could do with both types, but I just feel that he can offer a lot going forward and you wouldn't want to restrict him. Or maybe he is the closest thing out there to Roy Keane and it's a non-issue.

Yeah most of his teammates were prepared to live with the humiliation of defeat whereas he was having none of it

He is a very good player, but we should probably wait until the 2023 summer to make any bid for him.

Bryan Robson, Roy Keane, could do both.

Right now, we have no one near doing either to a high standard.

So another season of a giant hole in midfield.

We are losing so many midfielders in July.

Maybe we should just buy strikers.

Don't think he put a foot wrong today. Came on at half time but made more passes than anyone else, with a 93% success rate.

He's literally the anti-Fred.

So we are gonna sign lesser quality players just, so we can make an offer for Rice in 2023??

Where is your logic?

It is pretty clear. Clubs should constantly look out for better players than what they have. Just because a club signs players now doesn't mean they don't keep on considering other players in future windows.

Who said the midfielders we sign this summer will be good enough to take us to a title challenge? The chances of the club actually signing two midfielders good enough for that level in one summer is pretty low. There is a very high chance that Manchester United will need another in 2023. That is reality.

Nice video I thought broken down to quarters in order of:
  1. Dribbling
  2. Passing
  3. Tackling
  4. Shooting
Shows a bit of his overall ability. Dribbling, getting past the press and being more box to box is what I've felt he has improved most from last season. He has only showed more long range passing ability when he plays as the bigger team and I hope he can improve on that the most next season.

I have overrated players before - so I do worry if I'm doing the same for Rice but I'm a big fan of Rice because something about him just tells me he is a United player in the making. He also feels like a cheat code at times where the opposition could really struggle to go an attack "his defenders".

I watch the f2 lads videos a fair bit, I watched the Declan rice video the other day and they literally said he is the best player they have had on technique wise. They said it will suprise people because you don’t necessarily think of him as a flair player... but he is so skilful. Even watching him on their channel, you can see he is so good on the ball. His first touch, accuracy.. he is actually better than people realise, even though he is so expensive. That’s a product of today’s market.

If Chelsea want him, they get him though, Chelsea fan boy through and through.

Jeremy lynch also said he was told he was the best player technically at Arsenal when he was in the academy, including the first team.

He's a gem and ambitious. Pep is also an admirer, but I think he will end up at Chelsea where we will watch him rise to greatness

I have Maguire nightmares about the idea of signing a mid-table side's hyped-up England player. If I was on the board I would 100% veto a deal to sign him, citing Maguire.

We know how this ends though, we refuse to pay £100 million for him this summer and then sign him next summer for £150 million.

Another good reason not to sign him. Pep wanted Sanchez and Fred.

I agree that Maguire was overvalued at £80m but Rice is twice the player and he is already the leader on the pitch that Maguire will never be. It is a very poor argument to say that because we spent badly on on Maguire, Rice will turn out to be the same. Put your bias aside and try really watching him, he doesn't just turn up against weak sides, he was mom when he played here a few weeks ago. He would transform our midfield at a stroke.

no... overpriced... and no one outside of UK would pay much for him

Think he'll go for 70m odd when he has 1 year left on his deal. Unless he's stupid enough to sign an extension like Kane.

Kiddy should be history makers tonight and out celebrating revenge for 1994, incredible how they have lost that in last two mins

To be fair they had got the bounce of the ball in their favour up to that point, Preston was brilliant at the back. They also had a great chance from a set piece where the two lads got in each others way, should have been 2 up.

West Ham had gotten inside that left channel a few times and kept going for it and it eventually paid off. Even had the disallowed goal come that side.

Sickening to concede in injury time twice, hopefully they don't have to wait another 30 odd years for another crack at them.

I seriously hope we spend all our money on this one player when we can get 2/3 good players for around 100mill+ he will cost, we will have learned nothing

Hard to say as I guess it depends on Salary, purchase price, monthly installments, add ons etc. I'd go nowhere near 100 million.

For the sake of conversation I'd probably go to about 65mil but again, too many variables.

Are there any other players that you would like Man United to go for instead of Rice?
