Arsenal will not pay above their valuation , it was the same with Mudryk and Caicedo deals over the winter. We are on FFP watchlist as well, and deals have to be structured for 4-5 years. West ham want most money in first 2 years. If city is happy to overpay then they are most welcome.
Yep it is the same. Edu can't agree a deal with West Ham so that is it. It is nothing new. Just move on to next target.

By the way, there is no chance he goes to United. Absurd discussion, on about swapping two players plus money. United are giving Iqbal away for a million, some think we could negotiate this deal! Absolute bullsht rumor probably fed out by the club. Probably to distract from the mess of the sale.

If Iqbal was actually that good and talented, a better club with more money would have come in from him. I know its cool to shit on the club and such but you dont have to make up theories that the club wants to divert attention away from the Iqbal sale by claiming interest in Rice

Is it a normal transfer window if Arsenal don’t get bullied and gazumped out of a transfer target?

Him going to City would be like when Grealish went there. He doesn’t really elevate them as a team or get better as a player. He’s just a cog in the Guardiola machine.

In terms of United, isn’t his role a little too similar to Casemiro? Casemiro and Rice together seems a little overkill on the defensive and holding side.

He should go to City over arsenal. Guaranteed trophies there

I'm making the point that the club can't negotiate, thought that was obvious. 1m is a disgraceful price. Only a buffoon believes there is actual substance behind the swap deal for Rice. I'm making up nothing, United leak nonsense all the time to distract and divert attention. We are not in this race, broke fc.

Didn’t West Ham turn Arsenal down for a similar bid?

Yeah, but the complaint was always in the installments and the add-ons not being realistically achievable for Arsenal.

I feel like Arsenal are getting unnecessary stick for an extremely reasonable bid - OK maybe the add ons portion may have been unlikely, but no one is reporting any party valuing Rice at 100m+.

Oh dear god.

City are trying to hoover up players to stop other PL rivals getting them.

See Phillips also.
Were there any serious rivals in for Phillips at the time, don't really recall any but can't be sure

Who hurt you bro?

It is reported that Arsenal can't pay £75m in 2 installments. So in the end Arsenal can't meet West Ham's asking price, and West Ham got a better offer from City. It is what it is.

If the add on is from winning the CL or the league title, then City's offer obviously is more achievable than Arsenal.

It's hardly about what the player wants anymore, it's about who the selling club agrees to do business with. Modern football's method of doing business is almost like slavery to be fair. The only difference is that the asset gets paid a ton of money to mask the irregularities within the system.

In that case just move on. West Ham clearly:

1. Wants a lot of money up front.
2. Isn't willing see Rice move to where he wants to play.

Arsenal should move on from this and get another target.

Seems Arsenal is no longer viable, but perhaps West Ham are tempted by Maguire and/or McTominay in a deal.

Your probably right.

My worry is who are the other targets out there, names don't exactly roll of the tongue for me?

I don't blame West Ham. It is just business. I highly doubt Rice will be unhappy playing for City, get well paid, and challenge for title every season. Rice of course needs to prove himself and earn his place in City just like every player there.

Still think he'll end up at Arsenal, despite rumours about City. No chance it'll be United though, we'll spend large amount of money on Mount and then only other midfield signings could be Rabiot for free and perhaps someone like Amrabat for 30M max (and even that is unlikely).

Well at least when Mount finally gets sorted we will then get a read if Rabiot is a backup to him or in addition. Personally I am hoping we get both as feel Adrien can both partner and cover Casa

Question is does Rice only wants Arsenal or does he only wants to escape West Ham. If he refuses City for fear of gametime and West Ham refuse Arsenal's terms, they are not getting 100M again in 12 months.

It is just like any transfer. You need all three parties agree to the terms. So just wait and see.

Rice obviously wants to play in a bigger club to challenge for titles.

Then maybe Arsenal is not the club as League cup, FA cup are all beneath you and winning the title isn't possible as every Arsenal fans justifies in the other thread.

Every club in EPL probably is in the same boat bar City, and may be Liverpool.

I thought you were linked with Caicedo as well ?

Lavia ?

Seems we went cold on Caceido to concentrate on Rice, and Chelsea have been doing the legwork on that.

Brighton will be watching the Rice deal with great interest as well and will likely demand similar terms to West Ham.

Lavia I like, but is quite raw still. Not sure going into the new season with Jorginho and Lavia would be an upgrade on going into last season with Partey and Xhaka.

I believe Rice would displace Rodri at City.

I know stats don’t tell the whole story, but per 90 minutes he made 1.7 interceptions to Rodri’s 1 and 2.2 tackles to Rodri’s 2. This in a team that doesn’t press and therefore makes it easier for an opponent to pick a pass.

it would be a mistake to not be in the mix for his signature
