Declan Rice | Arsenal £105m player

have they lost their ability to camp teams in their own half with him there and not Partey. He's great though
Hard to camp in the opposition box when Kai Havertz has a first touch of a donkey. I’m sure if Arsenal had any decent midfielder they would look more dominant.

He was invisible for 90 minutes, barely mentioned his name. Lucky Lampard deflected goal as well.
I understand that it hurts, but you are talking rubbish. He was the best player on the pitch. He dominated every situation he was in. You didn't watch it as a neutral, you saw what you wanted to see. I assume you think Utd should have won too?

Reading these last couple of pages it's like he's a poor man's Elneny.

I would imagine he probably has the least amount of passes out of either midfield, I might be wrong. For a player in the position to have the most passes.

He was also out of position for rashfords goals and did a poor challenge which led to the offside goal.
That much is true. Comfortably as well.

He is being slagged here, but he crushed your midfield. Won everything, and scored the winner. Sour grapes spring to mind, and I understand it.
What are you smoking lad ? There were some excellent Arsenal players on the pitch today but he was not one of them, a deflected goal shouldn’t change that.

1 tackle, 2 interceptions. Why are Arsenal fans riled because we didn't notice him? If he actually dominated then this place would be moaning about not signing him.

I maintain that he’s the guy we should have gotten this summer (whether he wanted to come, I don’t know). He dominated midfield while Casemiro looked like a spent force once again.

Did he really dominate the midfield?,

I just don’t see it with this guy and the media love in. I didn’t even notice him until scored his goal. Seems a good lad and fair play to him but everyone goes overboard

If we did, we'd be crying about how he's just a 105m inferior version of Carrick and only makes safe passes. This forum most definitely loves to overhype players like Rice and Caicedo around the Premier League but would be ripping into them for various reasons if they played for United. The Caf is definitely a cow in the other field is better than the cow in yours kind of forum.

yep

Him and Havertz as the combination won't work away v likes of Man. City and Liverpool. I assume Partey was going to start centrally before the injury rather than the weird FB role he's had so far this season.

Is Jorginho dead or something? In 2021 he was one of the best CMs for club and country so while he's declined from that high I think a sitting tempo player like that infront of back 4 with Rice pushing on at times would actually be o.k for Arsenal in most games they play.

Isn’t it cute that they had to include a meaningless stat to make him more all-action? 13 final third entries, so he advanced 60 meters up the pitch when United were in the box or faffing about at the back? Whoop-dee-do.

Everybody, even those who don’t rate him, acknowledge his defensive qualities, it’s the part about doing things with a football that is called into questions, and those stats certainly don’t tell us something we didn’t already know.

He and Havertz are Arteta's problem, and he is the lessor of the problem anyway.

We are going to get smashed vs a quick Pool attack especially.. So far our midfield certainly doesn't look better than last year and we had a net 145 mil spend or so. I like what Rice brings, he reads the game well and I think will only grow....Havertz...still no clue there. We should have tried to hang on to Xhaka. Havertz is a step down so far. Hope he grows as well but he is quite a peripheral player out there at the.moment. I read that he had only 25 passes all game. It is not necessarily the most important stat but combined with the fact that I barely see him, I think it is telling. I am not even sure he is a step up from Vieira.

I don’t even think he’s a problem for you, much as I don’t rate him. It’s just the torturous ways his stans try to gaslight us that tickles, when the long-standing criticism for him has been he doesn’t affect play offensively or creatively enough.

Having him and Partey at the same time while both are fit is a bit of a conundrum, too defensive if played together, hence the weird RB experiment, but it sure is nice now that the latter got injured that you don’t have to go back to Lokonga. That doesn’t mean, however, that we have to pretend that a run of the mill performance against a pretty gash United midfield is some sort of masterclass.

He’s almost always in the right place, plays when his head on a swivel. Brilliant player, not worth 100m for overall contribution but he’s one of the worlds best DM’s. Very likeable chap too,

There's a person on Twitter who rates him over prime Busquets funnily enough.

Don't think he was that great.

Him and Caicedo were both wildly overpriced IMO.

Good display today, considering on paper Havertz-Rice-Odegaard looks a bit lightweight. Was worried when heard Partey was injured again. But stepping up for his goal is exactly the character and leadership qualities that made Arteta want him so badly. Think he'll only get better too for us.

nothing special. we sliced through arsenal midfield multiple times easily, had rashford, hojlund, and garnacho been better with their finishing we'd be laughing at him right now.

Written like you never watche the game. Generic post.

I still don't see it, like I don't see it with Rashford, DCL and all the other overrated English players.

A lot of fizz, with no action.

Utter sensationalist bollocks from the media again. He was steady in that game and happened to score a scuffed, deflected goal. Now he's feckin prime Vieira. Massively overrated player.

Amen

This is one of the most absurd comments I have seen on redcafe.net in a very, very long time. If you watched that game and think that Declan Rice 'dominated' any aspect of that game at all, then you are completely delusional. Man Utd were inches, inches away from a v creditable win. People look at Rice's goal as some messianic moment, the hype which surrounds games now is stupid, it's almost NFL, NBA stuff. Arsenal were far from great yesterday, United were better than in recent games, but no player offered some stand out performance. I didn't notice Declan Rice in that second half. The goal wasn't 'special' in terms of quality.. it was a hit the target, deflected.. a v v important goal yes, but to suggest this to be some seminal moment is utter gash. Just further highlights the insecurities amongst the Arsenal. Always wet the bed when they beat Man Utd. Carragher was right when he stated that Arsenal need to calm down.. City, Liverpool.. these teams conduct themelves like champions. Arsenal are an emotional club, too fragile.

I think you're one of maybe 3 people in the world who thinks this.
