The fee is going to be underwhelming isn't it ?
General feeling of the CAF: just get the deadwood OUT! No matter the price, just get them out. Negotiation team SUCK!

*potentially sell Henderson for cheaper than we want*

The CAF: WHAT?! Why’s it so cheap?! Our negotiation team SUCK!

To be fair, we don't have any GK's so I'd be content with him staying.

He’s allegedly a bad apple so I’d rather him go but he’ll be a better #2 than Heaton. So we’d need to buy if he goes. As well as getting a midfielder in

Didnt Palace have a huge problem with a high wages a few year ago. They got rid of some players. Would they be willing to take on 120k a week for a keeper?

For 1 season on loan, knowing they can give him back at the end of it I think they would. Any permanent transfer would have to involve a big payoff similar to Maguire.

No, no it wouldn’t

Get some money for him and put it towards the Amrabat funds. We need a midfielder more right now than a number 2

I always think of Henderson as a woeful example of how we have fallen. The fact that he went to Forest on loan and slagged us off the first chance he got. To think that he felt comfortable enough to do this.

Back in the days of Fergie this would have come to blows, from the manager and likely 3-4 of the senior players. (Could imagine Keano leaving the boot in numerous times in training)

Don't care if he's better or worse than other players at the club. He needs to go.

No, no it wouldn’t

Of course it would, he will expect a multi million pound settlement to leave to cover wages and bonuses. Palace aren’t going to cover it and he definitely won’t walk away from it.

Henderson wants to leave for game time. Unlike someone who's hanging on the last big contract of his life.
The fee won't be much but whatever, just get it done.

Yeah he wants game time but he’ll also want a payoff, just like DVB and Maguire will. I’m sure Fred got one as well, Bailly and Williams won’t be going anywhere without them either.

This is a ridiculous straw man. We repeatedly set unrealistic prices for our deadwood, and then act surprised when there's no interest and we end up holding onto them until they leave on a free.

I'd rather accept a low but realistic offer than hold out for a price that nobody is going to pay.

From an outsiders point of view this is spot on. Fees quoted on here of £25m+ are just insane. We got Matt Turner for £10m including add ons on a wage about half of Hendo’s. Although only two matches in, Henderson is not £15m better than Turner. Given his wages, if you can get £15m I’d take it, get the deal done and say thank you. In many ways Turner suites our game better because his distribution is (much) better then Hendo‘s. Henderson did pull off some fantastic saves last year and it remains to be seen if Turner has that in his locker.

Like who? This place won’t be happy until we give away everyone we don’t like for free.

I feel that for Henderson, the injuries were more of a block than the price per se.
It'd probably would have taken 10m happily.

I think there's an element of truth to this but it's also a product of us giving out stupid contracts and the club not acting at the right time.

If we cashed in at the right time I think we could've quite easily got £20-25m for Henderson (maybe more) but instead we gave him a contract worth over £100k a week and waited a couple of years too long to sell him once it became clear he wasn't going to become number 1 here. I'd be quite happy if we could get £15-20m for him now but as you say, we just need to get him out the door at this point because there's no value in us holding onto him any longer.

Would we actually get any money for him

It's mentioned on BBC site that it would be loan with Obligation to buy to Crystal Palace so if that happens then yes we would definitely be getting money how much We will have to wait and see .

I don't understand why Crystal Palce wants him. I don't think he is any better than Sam Johnstone.

Rumour was a loan with option to buy

| NEW: Crystal Palace are in the running for Dean Henderson after learning he is available on a loan with an option to buy. [@reluctantnicko]

Forest in June "Can we have Dean please?"

Utd: "yes, of course. That'll be £25m please"

Forest: "Err, you do know he's just had major surgery on his thigh.. how about a loan with an option to buy?"

Utd: " feck off"

Caf: "Who the feck do Forest think they are? Cheap fecking bastards. Pay up you skinflints"

Forest: "Fair enough, laters".

Utd in August: "errmmm.... Anyone want Dean on a loan with an option to buy...? Anyone...? Hello....? Is this thing still on...?"

Caf: "why has this cnut not left yet?".

Wrong.

Forest wanted him to play 30 games before triggering the buy option. That’s a ridiculous number of games. Especially when you consider he can’t play versus United, so max number of games he could play is 36.

I think Deano will leave and the deadline will obviously help that process finally get done!

It shouldn't have been a difficult transfer to make really, but as always the club owners/directors love to dilly-dally and drag every possible decision out for as long as humanly possible. They are best in class at it!

Forest not playing in the cups?

Yes, it's almost as if he was 100% correct in wanting to be sold off or loaned out in 2021 instead of being kept on the bench for a year. It would have made more sense for both parties.

Do you honestly think the club is just procrastinating this window? Nobody wants to pay £25 million for a keeper who hasn't played a minute since suffering a major injury 7 months ago.

Well I wouldn’t say they have been proactive in moving players on.

That is a bit revisionist, he did not ask to be sold or loaned in 2021 he expected to be starter after finishing the previous campaign as number 1. He then picked up an injury and had long COVID so was unable to participate in pre season and did not return to fitness until two months into the season.
