I've been an advocate for Henderson to play more but based on these highlights, apart from the great penalty save, the handling and flapping at shots doesn't look great...
However, my point and many others has always been even an average Henderson is miles ahead of what we get in De Gea, who is just frustratingly bad at almost everything nowadays.
Don't think thats what Rangnick thought considering he left Henderson to rot on the bench despite the fact our form was terrible and we couldn't stop conceding goals.
I suspect in fact it was the treatment of Henderson by rangnick that ultimately convinced him to push for a loan again this season. Why would he risk another season wasted on the bench behind one of the worst starting GK in the league who lives on past performance and the odd hollywood save but neglects every other important piece of the role. There is a world cup in 3 months, de gea may have started as number 1 in decent form and kept Henderson at bay at the start of the season long enough to see Henderson definitely overlooked for the world cup. That will be his reasoning.
He played well today did the basics well was brave and proactive, good accurate long distribution which was vital for Forest getting forward and a decent penalty save along with a clean sheet to boot. Cant ask for much more.
Difficult to judge his short distribution with the clear instruction to go direct for forest today, but he looked willing and comfortable taking the ball from his defenders and happy to take charge which is a good sign.

Had a feeling Henderson would have a decent game today and then all the reports coming out saying united should of kept him or chose to back the wrong keeper especially after de gea shocker yesterday. Get rid of de gea next season and give Henderson number 1 spot. When he’s been out on loan he’s always impressed… de gea is getting first team based on his name and being good a few years ago.

Wasn't even a good penalty it was awful by Rice but let's ignore that.
Very harsh - kept a clean sheet, made some good saves and saved a pen - job done, which is more than i can say for De Gea.
Henderson could easily be the difference in staying up for them.

To be clear I'm not saying that's what Rangnick would have said, I'm saying that's what might have been said had a meeting taken place. Or rather more to the point that's what anyone could have worked out if they'd assessed our squad with this style of football in mind. But ETH wanted to give everyone a new chance and that didn't fit with players like Henderson who would have to have been convinced within days of ETH starting the job.

I think he's fundamentally flawed.

If we want to implement Ten Hag's style, then this guy is not it. Similar trajectory to Pickford, decent top flight keeper, but nout special.

I'd say Hendo is more reliable than De Gea and a better all round goalkeeper. I'd rather we had him this year than De Gea and said that before ETH arrived however he isn't the long term solution to our problem in goal.

Liverpool and city both had a year or so with the replacement being better but not good enough.
