Deadpool (contains spoilers, obviously)

A nothing movie. Went with high expectations but either I am getting too old for this shit or the new generation have lowered their standards (just like gaming got a little too boring and easy and that seems to be what mainstream people like).

Utter hyperbole. And I am a sucker for superhero movies.

Injecting what into who? Are you talking about Deadpool because my understanding was that some folk have a mutant gene and the way to activate it is to place them under extreme duress which is why they tortured him to feck and deprived him of oxygen.

I know this because I was paying attention.

"At a laboratory, Wade meets Ajax and Angel Dust, whom he instantly resents. Ajax injects Wade with a serum designed to awaken latent mutant genes, then has him subjected to weeks of torture to induce stress and trigger the mutation without success."

Thing is, the mutation was probably success but he didnt know it until he escaped. Regardless, what Cassius said was right, the serum is to awaken any that may exist and the stress / pain / whatever triggers it (or makes it show itself). The oxygen however was Francis just doing it to be mean however.

But doesnt matter, he didnt do it to be mutated, he wanted to be cured.

Watched it last night, I'd probably rate it as this year Ant-Man, with more profanities and a hotter female lead (Morena Baccarin )

Deadpool as a character is a complete superficial idiot. So the whole underlying plot of the movie being him wanting a facelift is right in line with his character.

Shut it Funk.
 what, I was showing you that there was a serum and that you need it to be able to awaken the genes to then activate them through stress because you kept asking what the fluid was.
Eh what fluid? Is this in the directors cut?

EAP-he signed up to cure himself of cancer so he could be with his wife for longer! What film were you watching?!

Cancer is not a exotic disease anymore. You meet people everyday who personally or have people known to them who have cancer. Volunteering to a mutation clinic is not something that people consider when the hear they got cancer.
OK, fine let's believe it's a sane decision for arguments sake. Well and good, cancer is cured. all righto! Ajax tells him that they are creating super slaves, which gets ignored and all he cares is getting a face lift? And finally even that doesn't happen with no consequences at all. talk about a pointless story.

Yea his moral compass isn't something to judge him by. He's a merc after all. His face is what he's conscious of / cares about (along with Morena).

This forum has a tendency to over analyze a lot. Not as bad as the Star Wars thread though.

And why is he so seriously pissed off about his appearance? He voluntarily signed up for mutation, ffs!

He is a parody character that's the point. He isn't fighting for anything more than a pointless revenge.

What's the to be confused with?the simplicity /stupidy of the character motivations fit perfectly with any Deadpool story.

I would love if part two had Cable and it was played by Bryan Cranston or the bad guy from Avatar. It could be a buddy cop road trip film and Deadpool falls in love with Cable who doesnt reciprocate the feeling.

Then they fight some bad guy.

No no no no no

More Morena plz

I saw it last night and loved it. It was everything I was hoping it'd be and at one point had tears I was laughing so hard. Also thought that the 4th wall breaking was done particularly well. Plus my missus liked it who isn't into that sort of thing at all. Hopefully if it's appealing to a wide crowd, the sequel will get a lot of funding. Which reminds me, that comment about only 2 X-Men ever being around in that big school was hilarious

The bit where Colossus goes "Come - we are going to see the Professor" and Deadpool goes, "Who, McAvoy or Stewart?" was brilliant.

 Forgot that one. I could have happily started watching it again as soon as it finished. There are so many great lines like that I've already forgotten.

I thought it was ok. Some funny moments but it was basically just a couple of hours of Ryan Reynolds trying to prove how witty he is...I mean it sort of worked and there were some genuinely funny lines, but the film itself just seemed a bit empty/odd.

Not sure if the constant fourth wall breaking actually fitted with the humour or if the film would have been better off without it. I mean one second you have villain man acting like a more serious villain than any of the villains in the actual serious Marvel films, next you have Deadpool talking to the audience about having a wank...the two don't really fit together.

Worth a watch though...enjoyed it more than some of the guff Marvel has served up...like that other film Deadpool was in.

Without breaking the fourth wall it wouldn't be Deadpool.

This wall breaking thing sounds so pretentious and geeky, I can't believe so many are using it even on this forum without smirking. "Breaking the 4th wall", a nerd term if I ever saw one and look at the hype and pooha surrounding it.

"Ow you see what he did there???!! It's just like Bugs Bunny! #knuckle2knuckleBro #thuglife"

Comes from theatre. It's a pretty old term.

Its always funny when people criticise things to act cool. A nerd term? rofl.

Every film thread on here is full of people over-analysing everything until they decide to give it a ridiculous 3/10 rating or something. The Star Wars thread should've been deleted a day after it came out before the miserable sods saw the movie.

Not every film needs to be groundbreaking cinema that will inspire and move the industry forward. Some things are meant to just be...entertaining. Deadpool isn't the greatest film of all time, that's not what it was made to be, it was made to be a fun, entertaining movie and that is exactly what it was.

Some jokes felt forced, the storyline was a bit generic and the villain was forgettable but I still bloody enjoyed it and felt like I was only in the cinema for about an hour.

Not usually a comic book movie fan, the last great one was probably The Dark Knight and at this point I'm sick of the comic book saturation - but Deadpool's hype and marketing reeled me in and I'm glad it did.

8/10. feck the haterz.

Nothing geeky about breaking walls fella. Mans game.

My favourite joke was the Francis one.

I only got that because there was a trailer for the new xmen on before the film.
