Not saying I don't want him but I can't see us spunking much more than that on such an old player
30 is not that old really, he can still do a job for 3 years. I remember we wanted Senna who was at a similiar age before we got Hargreaves. But yeah i can't see us signing him anyway

I was thinking more that with his age players like Cleverley might then not think that there is no hope them ever breaking in and securing a place in the first team.

Would be excited if we sign him. Better than all the targets we have been linked to. Of course, his age is a problem but his price isn't as high as for the others and could be a very good stepping stone until we find another great midfielder. And feck it, he'll give us 3-5 years of the highest service, that should be enough for us to sign him.
You need to buy a fax machine first.
Put your cocks back in; he isn't going anywhere. Totti and him are both revered here at Roma and the ONLY reason we'd contemplate selling a player of this stature is because the club is in serious financial problems (which we aren't). In addition to that, the new manager won't start his reign at the club by selling De Rossi, he'd be taken to the Colloseum and we'd have our way with him. It's like asking Utd to sell Scholes or Giggs.
Quick question, why is there always media speculation about him? Every summer he's rumoured to be thinking about leaving, teams looking at him and eventually he stays. Is it all bullshit or has he actually contemplated it before?
That's a good question though. He had a run in with the previous manager. Apparently he was seen as the most authoritative figure in the dressing room (even above Totti) and it looked like the manager lost the respect of the players. In addition to that he's has a serious issue with the running of the club and is quite vocal about it. It's no secret that they would like to get rid of him from that standpoint but I assure you it's going to get ugly if he's sold. We love him.
ffs, claiming he's old while only a year ago we had giggs and scholes in our midfield....
Carrick's 32 btw
Christ I keep on forgetting that, if a 32 year old Carrick is our best midfielder imagine what a 2 years younger De Rossi is.
You'll sing a different tune when Woody comes knocking with a £13m bidWe're NOT selling De Rossi. There...I said it!

So I think it is safe to assume Moyes really wanted to strengthen the midfield.Fabio Capello has revealed that Manchester Unitedmanager David Moyes asked him for his opinion onDaniele De Rossi during the summer transfer window.
The Red Devils were linked with the Roma midfielder before the Italian club insisted that he was not for sale.
"A few months ago David Moyes asked me for my opinion about De Rossi and my opinion could only be positive," former Roma boss Capello told Fox Sports.
"If I were De Rossi, I would have gone to Manchester United. I would have wanted to go to a club where the ambition is very high."
Capello in currently in charge of the Russian national team.

Funny that Capello didn't mention the overwhelming allure of lower wages and proximity to the National History Museum for anyone that signs for Spurs.

Interesting article, very detailed.
Seems he would be a United player now if, of course, we moved quicker. It seems we placed signing Marouane Fellaini above everybody else.
