De Rossi Up For Sale

Not saying I don't want him but I can't see us spunking much more than that on such an old player

30 is not that old really, he can still do a job for 3 years. I remember we wanted Senna who was at a similiar age before we got Hargreaves. But yeah i can't see us signing him anyway

Yeah, especially that De Rossi now seems to have doubts about leaving, won't stop us flogging a dead horse though.

If he is available I think he could be perfect for is, older then wed like but still got around 3 seasons in his peak and I think he'll be a good player when he's older too. Right now though he and carrick could be a great combo and he's certainly a real leader. Getting him now would then give us more time to identify the players we want in the middle long term as well as still assess how clev is progressing.

So badly wanted him to sign for us 2-3 years ago. Can't see it happening now and there is no point paying much more than the supposedly offered price.

No resale value and high salary demands limit any fee

In response to all of the 'He's 29 and there is no re-sale yada yada yada', what age was RVP? If this man is for sale and we have half a chance, cut the feckin negative comments and pray that we can stick him in the team!

Jesus, a bid for De Rossi? The transfer window needs to close already.

I was thinking more that with his age players like Cleverley might then not think that there is no hope them ever breaking in and securing a place in the first team.

Considering we've been trying to sign on younger players all summer, I don't think Cleverly had much hope of securing a place anyway.

The way top teams are setting up and have been progressively doing so, is having at least two competitive players for each position in order to stay as competitive as possible on all fronts (league, cups, CL). With proper rotation, you can make sure your players get enough games and minutes to keep them happy and motivated while driving the team towards its goals. For example, Thiago played one game less than Iniesta and three games less than Fabregas in Barca's 11/12 campaign.

All our midfield targets so far have been players below 25. Getting him would give us experience and real leadership in the middle of the park.

reckon it is bollocks myself. it just doesnt make sense, if we really are after Herrera and Fellaini AND de Rossi, 2 of these 3 would be on the bench most of the time. Carrick is a cert to start for now and of similar age to de Rossi anyway. it would mean we have dropped interest in Fellaini if anything, since we bid for Herrera only recently.

Would be excited if we sign him. Better than all the targets we have been linked to. Of course, his age is a problem but his price isn't as high as for the others and could be a very good stepping stone until we find another great midfielder. And feck it, he'll give us 3-5 years of the highest service, that should be enough for us to sign him.

Exactly de Rossi is a top player who can come in now, he and carrick would definitely in my mind be a combo that could give us a great base to challenge on all fronts. He also buys us time to then really identify some top young midfielders for the long term and allow us to ease in someone like Powell because de Rossi represents someone else who can lead in the middle at the moment we just have carrick. If the fee and his wages are reasonable I think he would be a great signing, give us a few top years. If we get Herrera as well then it's almost a perfect summer with Rooney looking like he will stay and still play well and rumours that nani is staying as well.

Put your cocks back in; he isn't going anywhere. Totti and him are both revered here at Roma and the ONLY reason we'd contemplate selling a player of this stature is because the club is in serious financial problems (which we aren't). In addition to that, the new manager won't start his reign at the club by selling De Rossi, he'd be taken to the Colloseum and we'd have our way with him. It's like asking Utd to sell Scholes or Giggs.

Quick question, why is there always media speculation about him? Every summer he's rumoured to be thinking about leaving, teams looking at him and eventually he stays. Is it all bullshit or has he actually contemplated it before?

That's a good question though. He had a run in with the previous manager. Apparently he was seen as the most authoritative figure in the dressing room (even above Totti) and it looked like the manager lost the respect of the players. In addition to that he's has a serious issue with the running of the club and is quite vocal about it. It's no secret that they would like to get rid of him from that standpoint but I assure you it's going to get ugly if he's sold. We love him.

My brother is a Roma fan and he is going crazy over the possibility of him leaving Roma, especially considering that Totti will retire next season. Would like to see him here, but on the other side I always had a soft spot for Roma, and this fecker will be the main captain next season. I doubt that he'll leave and if that happens likely they are pushing him.

One question though, what is happening with Roma? Wasn't Di Benedetto supposed to be the main who will set Roma in the right direction. I was surprised that you sold Lamela.

Christ I keep on forgetting that, if a 32 year old Carrick is our best midfielder imagine what a 2 years younger De Rossi is.

Roma's best midfielder. Could easily become our best midfielder if we would have signed him.

I read that Roma's officials said today that he won't leave the club this summer.

Fabio Capello: 'David Moyes asked me about Daniele De Rossi'
Fabio Capello has revealed that Manchester Unitedmanager David Moyes asked him for his opinion onDaniele De Rossi during the summer transfer window.

The Red Devils were linked with the Roma midfielder before the Italian club insisted that he was not for sale.

"A few months ago David Moyes asked me for my opinion about De Rossi and my opinion could only be positive," former Roma boss Capello told Fox Sports.

"If I were De Rossi, I would have gone to Manchester United. I would have wanted to go to a club where the ambition is very high."

Capello in currently in charge of the Russian national team.
So I think it is safe to assume Moyes really wanted to strengthen the midfield.

Gutted we missed out on De Rossi, great footballer with an exceptional mentality.

I haven't seen any full Roma games this season but apparently he is back to his best as well.

Not quite everybody else, just Marouane Fellaini before July 31st.
