Someone on the Guardian blog has made a fair point - if we're lookingin Italy, why not go for Hamsik instead of De Rossi? They're different types of players, but Hamsik is a lot younger - and he's bloody good.

We already have one experienced, older, defensive-minded midfielder, do we want another one? As good as he is I feel we would be getting someone who isn't in his prime at the moment, a couple of seasons before I would have taken him in a heartbeat.

You know what I mean, we should be looking to strengthen our squad with quality players - and I still think we have the need for more creative players - especially if we're getting Fellaini to play alongside Carrick - as seems likely.
So how good is De Rossi these days? Is he a bit past it or does he still have a few more quality years left in him? If we could get him for 15m it seems like a damn good idea, especially considering we'd spend more on Baines.

His agent is Mino Raiola - the same one for Pogba..... I can t see us going for one of his players.
That is a downfall. I've even heard that after the Pogba fiasco we're refusing to deal with him.
Re: de Rossi. Apart being a die hard Romanista, he had some problems with injuries lately.

SO the Telegraph think we are going to make an offer for him and Herrera for £40 million. So if Herrera's clause is at 36 million euros which is around £33 mil, that means £7 million for De Rossi, which is lower than our last bid? Excellent.

it's around 1.1 euros to the pound is it not? and I believe in my head that 36 million euros converts to around £33 million, does it not? which means £40 million - £33 million =£7 million, am I correct?
It's currently around €1.17 to the pound, which makes €36m about £31m.
Well he can play centre back.. He should be Fellaini's back up plan.

That's a shame, but I'd rather we stayed away from Raiola entirely, so I hope you're right Gambit.

He'd be excellent imo. I'd rather spunk that on him than the likes of Baines.
