De Gea contract talk | Signs new deal

Nothing in that game until his shite. Let him go if he wants.

Look back at the posts about de Gea in 2011, then look at the arse licking from 2013-18 and the negative shit here again. He's been a brilliant keeper, there was people having fecking arguments about him being superior to Schmeichel at the start of the fecking season. I hope he'd sign a contract, but don't act like 2-3 months of being poor makes spending 80 million on a keeper a sound strategy when we have one of the best to ever do it here atm.

He's going through his first bad patch in five years due to a clear lack of confidence and people want rid of him? Christ.

Modern football fans are more spoiled, pampered primadonnas than the players they crucify. I blame twitter.

He's the one causing the uncertainty surrounding him by not signing a new contract and holding the club ransom. Hes taken his eye off the ball and he can only blame himself.

No doubt at the minute who holds the power in any contract negotiations. He is too good not to regain top form but his worth contractually or as a transfer is as low as it’s ever been in his entire time at the club.

You mean like Giggs, Rio, Rooney, Cristiano, etc before him? He has been awarded our best player 4 years in a row (and to me 6 years in a row). Pretty much normal the best players to negotiate their most likely last big contract..

We have always given him a massive contract and we are prepared to do it again. He's been the best paid goalkeeper for ages and were prepared to make it so once more. But seemingly that's not enough. I think he wants to go. Heart's not in it anymore.

Just don't get how not signing a contract can hinder his form, it's just an excuse, he's not standing there thinking about it whilst he's playing the game.

He's just lost his form, or maybe lost the ability to react as quickly to shots as he used to be able to, which in entirely possible for a keeper like him, he probably doesn't understand what's going on himself.

I don't think we have though.

I'm not saying sell him, he's been our best player for 7 years, but he's in absolutely shocking form.

I'm struggling to remember the last time a keeper made as many errors in such a short space of time for Utd as De Gea is currently doing. Anything on target is a goal.

He needs to be dropped for the last games. Almost making an error in each of the past few games. Romero deserves a chance when De Geas form is this bad but there is ZERO reason we need to sell De Gea ! He has been a beast for us and is maybe one of 2 world class players we have.

I don't understand why people want us to sell all our world class players. Do they want us to be even more mediocre???

If you are not committed you cannot give a 100%. Same reason clubs sell players who are looking elsewhere.

It’s pretty simple really, he should be asked whether he wants to stay and get on with his football without asking for ridiculous wages, or he wants to leave.

Don’t keep anyone at all costs.

Bad patch since last summer at the WC, the club and fans stand by him, just remember that. Right until his contract negotiation.....

If he wants to leave, no-one is stopping him. Go for a 2nd career. Ramsey shows you what a leaving player should look like, play for yourself, play for the fan, play for your pride.

He's going though a horrible season but no way we should give him 400k. Move on if he insists

He’s already the best paid keeper in the country by some margin. His performances this season don’t even justify his current salary never mind any significant pay increase.

If he thinks he can get +300k elsewhere, while playing like that, just bring an offer in the summer and ta-ta.

This, his heads not here no more

So do you approve his wage demand or not? Because if not, he could be going for free while playing with his head on other team already.

Firstly I don't like all the 'virus' talk about De Gea. He's been absolutely incredible for years now, among the very best footballers around, during a period when we weren't actually at his level. So I have nothing but gratitude for him as a player and professional (unless something concrete comes to light).

However it has to be said that he's in absolutely terrible form and deserves to be dropped. I saw the highlights of last night's game and there wasn't that much in the game as far as actual chances. City never really opened us up that much themselves and both goals should have been saved by De Gea. On pure merit, I'd drop him for a few games.

It would also be a problem if we gave him a huge contract when he's not quite all in. It could potentially create another Sanchez like situation with an expensive problem on our lap. Depsite how brilliant DDG is, being mentality spot on is key.

He is having a really bad season, it started with him not being up to his usual god like ability to save virtually anything that was thrown at him, papering over the cracks of our utterly dog shit defense for the past 6 years and merely being a “good keeper”.

The past few weeks though, he has been complete garbage, not just “not up to his usual standards”, but just straight up shit and he is not saving stuff even the most bang average of keepers would get to.

His been our best player for years and now the first time in a long time his in bad form and shot of confidence, everyone is ready to let him go.

I bet the moment he leaves the same fans who turned on him will be crying and moaning that our club is ruined for selling him.

If he really wants to leave sure sell him but we shouldn’t just sell him for the sake of it, we need to spend in other areas.

You need your GK to be the most consistent player. Imagine if we are at the top 5 points clear and DDG hit a ' bad patch ' and we lost it by 2 points? All hell will break loose here.

His confidence is shot to pieces, he is under massive pressure each and every game to make up for the failings of the useless wankers in front of him and this season its built to he point where he has finally snapped,

I feel like if we get Oblak in as a replacement then wouldn't be averse to letting Dave go.

I realise he is supposed to have signed a new contract but still reckon it's worth trying to sign him.

Haven't read everything. $400K was it? Nope - i wouldn't. I think if we play hard ball he will cave. Either that or he really wants to go, then of course we sell. But there are alot of people asking for him to be sold on his performances and not because of his contract

He seems to have developed an obsession with using his feet instead of his hands to save low shots. He needs to get back to goalkeeping basics.

Lad needs to be taken out of the team. Looks shot as a player and is costing us goals now. Has had a very poor season by his standards. Distribution gone to shite and getting beaten at his near post. Give him the rest of the season off, sort out if he’s staying and take it from there. I don’t want him here next season if he hasn’t extended.

He’s been doing it for seasons, so doesn’t really explain what’s wrong with him now does it.
