Oh C’mon... Seriously fellas?

DDG is and has been the only world class player we’ve had (possibly Pogba too) in a long long time.

He makes a few errors recently, yeah okay fair enough but you need to stop judging a player from his past few games.

He has been our player of the season 3 times in a row, possibly 4 I can’t remember, and now some of you are happy for him to move on?

For how long are people going to separate ddg from the defence seriously?
And to everyone defending him for past years wake up the modern football has evolved- the GK is the 11th player and top teams won't accept keepers and defenders that can't play from the back.

Hes been poor for a while now to be fair, him making a few errors recently has been said for ages, which sort of proves that it isn't the case.
I don't think many people would be delighted for him to go, but people are quite rightfully sick to death of players on unreasonable wages at united when we aren't competing for top honours.

Oblak has a 80m buyout.. or thats what people say.
So if we sell DDG to PSG or Juve for 60 we pay 20m.
Oblak is on 100k and DDG 250k . So we pay Oblak 150k and not paying DDG the new contract for 350-400k would save us 1m a month.. so after 5 years we would have saved us around 40m ..

But we could do one better, just give Romero a chance and get Deano here as a number 2. Or just give it to Deano. By that adding 60m to our budget and saving us 12m in wages.

I love DDG but $350-450k is just crazy and this shit every summer is just so annoying.
 
State of this thread.. ALL of our rivals will celebrate us losing De Gea. He is going through a slightly rough patch but all keepers do.

Yeah fair point RE wages, but to say he’s been making errors for a long time is ridiculous. His distribution is not great I will admit but as a traditional shot stopping keeper there is no one better.

I wouldn’t like to see him go at all but I do feel we have a great keeper in Romero who could step up if it does happen.

And does anyone have a reliable resource to show that De Gea is wanting 350/450/500k wages?
 
Pogba and DDG are the guys who should be carrying the team, but I feel they need to be sold.
 
I desperately want DDG to sign a new contract, but only if he is 100% committed to the team.

People are quick to forget that he has been a fecking superman between the posts for us at times.

I do think that he needs dropping until he gets his head straight though.

Very quick. Since the last time was last weekend vs West Ham. That save from Antonio ended up being a 3 point turnaround.

And he couldn't leave his line so his command of the box was non-existant, so the defence was having to do their job and his job, and his distribution was so bad that he was feeding the ball to the opposition most of the time.
Regards him being a great stopper - yes, I agree, best stopper in the world but that's only 1 part of a goal keepers job in this modern world - it's a bit like being a boxer with a great right hand but no left arm whatsoever - best puncher in the universe but, unfortunately, not fit for the fight.

He's world class. Even world class players go through occasional patches of bad form, the problem being that when a goalkeeper's form drops, it shows a lot more.

We'd struggle to do much better if we offloaded him.

It's not a patch though, it's just about the whole season.

I'd rest him and Pogba for the Everton game at least, give players who want to be here a chance.

So we keep DDG at all cost? Even if he demand 750K /week? Or at what point do you deem he is too expensive to keep?
 
DDG wouldn't make the Premiership team of the year,has had an error prone season,has no command of the penalty area and has crap distribution.
No way should we be held to ransom,let him go !Romero is a capable understudy until Deano takes over.
 
I get the feeling his recent blip is all about his uncertainty about his future. When and however it is resolved he'll be back as a world class goalie he's nowhere near on the decline yet. Hope he stays but not at any cost.

Here I blame management for this. If you see the guy is distracted, then put his ass on the bench like LVG did. Clearly he can't perform unless everything is going right for him, which is bloody unprofessional no matter how you look at it. Nothing goes right for us ordinary folks at work earning a pittance, but that doesn't mean we should let that stop us from doing our jobs - otherwise we get sacked.
 
I get the feeling we’re going to hard reset the squad over the next couple of years, and get rid of a few of the biggest earners. If his inconsistent form carries on, I don’t think the club will mind too much if he decides to leave.
 
Get rid. He's not the player he was. Time for local lad Deano to come in.
 
I'm used to seeing players up their game under contract talks, typical of United players to stop saving running and shooting.
 
It sort of looks like he already has an informal agreement with some club and doesn't feel the need to play well in order to advertise himself. It's not as if him wanting away is unprecedented. His mind's not in it and he's counting the minutes until the transfer window opens.

He's been terrible all season and has pretty much single-handedly cost us 4th place this last few weeks.

His value must be on the floor now.
 
No need to match his wages. Sign or sell. Take the club back from getting bullied by player power .

If you wanted him dropped in 2015 you deserved all the shit you got.
 
He's in bad form this month, but he's been alright this season, horrible by his high standards however.
