So why don't they appoint personnel that make proper footballing decisions then instead of leaving it all the a investment banker?
Woodward has not been involved in player transfers for a couple of years now. Read up yourself a ltb before posting old tiresome narratives.

I'm all for selling De Gea if it means we get in Oblak. I mean, if he wants to leave why hold him to stay? He owes us nothing.

Oblak isn't a step down either.

So who has then? Woodward nothing to do with hiring cr@p managers as well then?

Yeah but why would Oblak want to join us? He's already at a much better team, playing consistent CL football and challenging for the league, it'd be a miracle if we convinced him to come here.

No, he is not. A very little step down if anything. There is even an argument to be made that Oblak would suit Mourinhos playing style better than De Gea since he is way better at commanding the penalty area than De Gea. And as long we have this defensive approach, we will continue to be the team of the top brass that concedes the most corners and crosses against.
I think the club will do their utmost to keep De Gea though, which they should. It would be a major PR-letdown if he left in search of titles someplace else.
So we will see, but its not a major footballing-letdown if he does leave. It would free up a bit of wage bill as well.

We aren’t getting Oblak when Dave leaves, some of you play too much Football Manager

Haha as if Oblak would join us, we'd end up throwing £80m plus on a bang average keeper if De Gea leaves

This could be good news, as with the Pogba rumours. It could be the shifting point in getting rid of Mourinho, if Woodward & board think it may be the catalyst for keeping our better players. They think of assets & would be very reluctant to let our main ones go, & if it comes to the manager & them, it will be the former who will go.

I thought exactly the same thing. We kind of need to hit rock bottom now for any good to come out of it all.

If we keep plodding along playing woeful football yet still getting that magical ‘Top 4 Cup’ every other season, it only papers over massive cracks.

De Gea will leave and we won't be replacing him with an Oblak believe me.

It's got to the stage that I hope he does move on for his own career! I feel slightly embarrassed having the best keeper in the world while the players in front of him continue to play abysmally! He's shown more loyalty during the Moyes, LVG and Mou years than could be reasonably expected! If a Juve or PSG come calling then I'd wish him well!
You feel embarrassed for that?

You should feel embarrassed cause you hope he moves. Give your head a wobble.

Why would Oblak come here. Leave a team that is competitive and in the Champions league mix almost every year.
Exactly.

We're more likely to just stick with Romero.

This kind of thing is why the next coach doesn't have a prayer with this board.

Because he’s on 25,000 pounds per week.Athletico have a very rigid wage structure,Apart from Greizmann nobody else is on “big wages”.We can easily pay Oblak 150,000 pounds per week....A 500 percent increase in wages should compensate for the fact that we aren’t competing for the big trophies.

Atletico Madrid.
Athletic Bilbao.

We don't really need a De Gea replacement, just give Dean Henderson a shot, he's making some waves at the moment.

Why on Earth would some of you hope he moves? Youse are absolutely mental.
I know we have some very strange 'United fans' with all this 'he deserves to move' 'free de gea' crap. We need to sign him up to a new long term deal, sort out a new manager and then start surrounding De Gea with players on his level, particularly those in defence.

The only people who should be happy to see de dea leave are fans of our premier league rivals. And for those who think we will be able to replace de gea with oblak :lol::lol:

It will be Pickford or Hart.

fans here are very weird. Hoping our best players leave because we aren’t playing great right now?

Let’s just sell all our best players and hang our heads in shame :wenger:

How about we sign a manager that can make us play proper football and keep our players happy?

It was only a matter of time. How much do we think we can get for him given his contract would be running out soon?

Why should he stay? Shift gears De Gea

One of many who'll leave in the near future if things carry on as they are I think. Guys like pogba, martial and rashford. There's a lot of players who's contracts are running out fast. New manager would be nice any time now.

As time is a constant, can you explain why contracts are bypassing time and going faster than it? Panic mongering by the media and people sure lap it up. Dave is here next season regardless as he'll still be under contract.

I could never forgive anyone involved, from manager to Woodward if they let De Gea leave. Feck them, I'd hate them to the end of time. We have one undisputed world class player who has been carrying us for years yet they can't fix the shambles around him.
