De Gea contract talk | Signs new deal

Who is going to buy him and pay him what he wants? Can't blame him for waiting for a free transfer at this point.

If he isn’t renewing and we can’t sell him, then he should spend the whole fecking season on the bench.

If De Gea care about us so much, he should never leave us for free when we have more pressure issue on another position we need to improve and it cost more. He should ask us to sell him so we can get money from him to spend money on new GK.

If we get an offer for him then fine, sell him, but with a year left on his contract and an apparent desire from him to walk-out on a free then I doubt we will get a bid for him, much less one that he'll accept.

Don't think it's that simple. Why would a buyer go for that if they know they can wait unless they re really really desperate...which I don't see being the case for most major clubs when it comes to their goalies.

I thought he wanted to go back to Spain and be near he's gf and family, but when PSG come to you with a lorry full of cash then feck the gf.

I wish we'd show some pride and sell him, or put him on the bench/leave him out of the squad until he goes for free in January.

Dave don't give a shit about the club, so we need to bed someone else in.

I don't think we should take a chance starting the season with someone who is not committed, it's an unnecessary risk. I can imagine the atmosphere and panic amongst us fans if he starts the season the same way he ended the last one.

Get a proper GK coach, and use Hendo and Romero. Hell see if Franz Hoek will come back. It will be fine for a season, whilst we reinforce other positions.

He doesn't seem to through his actions. We should probably just accept that.

Oh no.. I thought it's only a cnutish club like PSG would do that to their player? *sarcasm*

No one cares about us this much or that much. If we start putting such clauses on players, almost all of them will leave.
The players don't care a feck about the club making money or not. Tomorrow if we ask even the academy, local lads to take small salaries so that the club can make money or will have money to invest in other priority areas, even they will leave.

When the likes of Lingard get 100k/week, you can imagine DDG asking for insane wages. People compare Salah and De Bryune salaries with our players but they fail to realize that shite performers on those teams are either shipped off or are on the bench on much lesser salaries, while we dole out new contracts to players like Jones, Smalling and fecking Young.

If we want to control our wage to earnings turnover, we need to start by reducing the salaries of deadwood/crap players rather than worrying about handing bumper salaries to our regular top performers.

If Dea Gea doesn't want to renew, then fair enough. I think in the last couple of games he cost us dearly, probably a spot in the CL, still his time here has been nothing but a huge success.

We're paying him top dollar every month and
by putting himself in the shopping window, it's in his own interest to perform adequately. For example i remember Lewandowski who did very well or last season Ramsey.

Personally i think the risk isn't worth it, i remember Valdez who got injured and the offer got pulled. But de Gea must have thought about that, so good luck.

Sad thing is he's not out of line at all. Players like Lukaku, Martial, Pogba, Lingard on the wages they're on, it's very understandable where he's coming from.

Artifact of the club's lack of understanding of how and why a proper wage structure works to create cohesion within a staff.

We do that and he'll just end up poison in the dressing room. If he doesn't want to be here then best to cut him loose this summer.

He'll have to up his game though - he throws in performances for a Real or PSG like he did in his last 10 games for us and he'll get crucified. He's had it very easy in that respect.

We got a few years extra then we expected but the last month of shocking form and this stance definitely look like time to shift.

Then do with him what Mourinho did to Bastian Schweinsteiger: Remove him from first team dressing room completely and have him train with the Youth team. That would also send a strong message to the rest of our players about who is in charge here: Only boss Ole and no one else. Isn't it time we should revive the motto of Sir Alex: "No one is bigger than the club"?

Perfect time to sell. If he goes to PSG, then even better. Get them to pay 50m and we have a deal.

We don't know what ddg is demanding, nor do we know if woody is trying to get the wage structure back in check hence the tougher stance on contracts perhaps.

But i get what you're saying about why ddg wouldn't be demanding a lot given what we are paying Sanchez

He’ll be 29 this year. Sure, a GK could carry on being useful for another decade, but he had an awful World Cup with Spain and followed it up with a similar season for us.

£50m really isn’t a bad deal if you focus on his form over the last 12 months and the likelihood of him being no better (for us) next season.

We’ve had his best years. We should remain grateful to him for them.

Alisson Becker went for 66.2m quid/ 72m euros. De Gea is worth at least an additional 15m pounds. He's a 28 year old goalkeeper; best in the world.
Alisson came off a terrific season at Roma and he had plenty of years left on his contract. De Gea has one year left and has been in his worst form in the last 5-6 years.

If it's true about the contract talks then get him sold. Only logical thing to do.

50Mill would be a great figure. I actually imagine it to be less than this though for a player that is desperate to leave and we have no choice to sell. Just get him out though, play Romero and use the money for other positions. Could be a blessing in disguise.

DDG has been poor for the last 1 to 2 months of the season he was good for the rest.

Happy for him to move on, he’s done his job.
Wouldn’t pay him 350k a week.

He's worth nothing in a years time and the only teams that might pay him what he wants don't need new keepers this season.

If you are De Gea, wait a season and take your pick of clubs, if you are PSG etc wait a year and get him for free.

He's on more than all of them!

De Gea's blip in form has not nearly been long enough to suggest he's not worth being the most expensive keeper in the world.

^This (negotiation tactics) are the ONLY reason De Gea may be sold for far less than he's worth.

And my point is simply that - this makes me upset. Losing our best player and not getting enough from it.

Sell him or bench him for the entire season. His form is not going to improve if he's not committed to play here.

I reckon that even if he wants to leave next summer, keeping him for the season, when he's motivated to either get a big deal elsewhere, or force us to move our offer, makes sense unless we can buy a world class keeper elsewhere this summer. For all this talk of second rate keepers like Cillessen or Onana, De Gea at or near his best is a couple of levels above.

Always expected him to go to PSG at some point.

We dont need the drama and hindrance all season. Try get a deal done now.

If he doesn't want to sign then get rid whilst we can get a few pence. I don't blame De Gea at all but we need a fresh start and could do without that saga all next season.
