Glad Phil isn't on our coaching staff. Clueless.
Shame we don't employ him thenPlease tell me he didn't say that. That's a sackable offence.
so its only Butt left from the class of '92?
Giggs too.
Did P. Nev give any reasons for his idiotic opinion?
We know the real reason for it. He's English.
Why? Keepers of ddg quality can realistically earn a team between 10 and 15 points a season, can be the difference between a title and second place. Are you old enough to remember Schmeichals 95/96 season?
Well, he's not that bright so this doesn't surprise me. Glad that Van Gaal didn't keep him.Phil Neville : "Joe Hart is better than De Gea"

I'd say Phil took some abuse on Twitter, the donkey.
Football is about winning matches not selling shirtsShirts,
strikers sell shirts, have you seen a lot of people wearing De Gea shirt ?
Part of a club's pitch to a potential signing is about how they can increase their profile, and increase their brand.Football is about winning matches not selling shirts
This.Give him a blank cheque.
I'm pretty sure that football the business is about getting the highest paying sponsorships available, and selling a ton of tickets to games. Both of which are at least partly influenced by winning matches.Part of a club's pitch to a potential signing is about how they can increase their profile, and increase their brand.
Brand and ability to sell shirts very much influences the wage a player gets.

Well they obviously aren't mutually exclusive. You sell shirts while winning games.I'm pretty sure that football the business is about getting the highest paying sponsorships available, and selling a ton of tickets to games. Both of which are at least partly influenced by winning matches.
Yeah of course, but what I meant was that the actual selling shirts part of the business isn't all that important. We earn a lot more from selling tickets and a huge amount more from sponsorships and commercial deals, so shirt sales aren't as big a deal for us. I think Real get a much larger cut from their shirt sales, so for them a big name signing can give a good boost in revenue, but for most teams that's not the case.Well they obviously aren't mutually exclusive. He should be at Madrid, he really should be competing at the highest level. Hopefully he doesn't see it that way and will stay and help the cause.
