Heart the size of a pea will stop him becoming one of the all time greats imo

Not if the choice came down to 30m vs. him leaving for free next season. If De Gea refuses to sign a contract unless that clause was inserted then the club's hands are tied.

So basically you're saying he's leaving regardless of the new contract. It's crazy we have this contract policy in place.

Has been a bit iffy for the last 2-3 matches now. Not coming to collect long balls...not being able to pull off the reflex saves. It might be harsh but I thought he could have done a bit better for the 1st goal as it went under his leg again.

The contract talk must be affecting him in some way or other.

He let in a cheap goal from Hazard last week and showed no nuts on the first goal today, should've charged and dove. Wasn't really paying attention to the second goal so can't comment on that.

Just because he saved some one-one-ones earlier this season doesn't mean he should save them all. Diving to the ground has never been his style and he was very close to saving the first goal.

Second goal looked very saveable though, and there's been a couple of occasions where he hasn't come out for a ball where he should have.

He's been quite poor, of late. Liverpool, Villa, Chelsea and today, all goals he's been saving, all season.

Maybe, his mind is elsewhere.

fairly speaking, i don't blame ddg. ddg is not the trouble, his agent is

He might just be having an off day but if LVG thinks his mind really is elsewhere then he's no big loss. If he really wants it, let him go join the Real Madrid circus. Just try and milk the feckers for every penny. It shouldn't be too hard, this is Madrid. They just love breaking transfer records.

What the actual feck was he playing at for that third goal? Just stood there, he was so good at 1-on-1s early in the season.

That's if you genuinely believe the agent isn't letting De Gea sign a new contract because of Falcao. You would have to be insane to actually believe that.

Given the agent will make as much money if De Gea signs a new contract with us, if not more than if he moves to Madrid I would say the whole responsibility falls under De Gea.

@FlawlessThaw

watch out all the interactions between ddg, adm, rojo & falcao. connecting them all of their actions

What do you mean by that? We're still pals with Mendes by all accounts (apparently using him to secure signing Cancelo) and we are still using all those players.

He's been poor in the last 5 or 6 matches. If it's just CL football he's waiting for maybe he'll sign after the last match but if we can recoup 40-50 million for him it's not all bad.

Probably not right to read too much into his performances, but it's not exactly encouraging is it?

You mean Götze? Or am I missing something?

Somebody has already explained what I mean't by Reus but basically his actions have ensured Dortmund will get a fair fee for his transfer. With De Gea in the last year of his next season we have our hands tied this summer if Real Madrid offer £20m, I would like to see De Gea want us to get a fair fee for him.

Explain yourself carvajal.
what a mess  , but at least the thread has been really interesting, the article says "according to british press Manchester has offered 200.000 pounds a week /14.5 million euro and he would have said no. I understand for the sentence that As makes this conclusion (I don´t know who has written about this in UK). More websites and media are talking about the same without naming "As". About the clause, this is very old, the first thing that I found about this is from february: http://futbol.as.com/futbol/2015/02/22/internacional/1424604932_820740.html , anyway I don´t know if they copied from british press.
About the cold relationship David/Iker (is in spanish) : http://blogs.elconfidencial.com/dep...-real-madrid-si-no-esta-iker-casillas_755514/ // http://blogs.elconfidencial.com/dep...fria-relacion-entre-casillas-y-de-gea_626375/ Don Balón(a weekly football magazine) also talks about de Gea saying no the new contract but adds that United wants to include Modric/Varane/Bale in the transfer : http://www.donbalon.com/noticia/det...ed-quiere-incluir-a-tres-jugadores-del-madrid .
ABC (a conservative newspaper about general info) wrote months ago about de Gea expecting some kind of move in Madrid : http://www.abc.es/realmadrid/noticias/20150326/abci-david-espera-futuro-casillas-201503251709.html and did it again in march saying that he had said no to the new offer : http://www.abc.es/realmadrid/noticias/20150326/abci-david-espera-futuro-casillas-201503251709.html , however , about the last new, the one of "As", they consider that comes from british press : http://www.abc.es/videos-futbol/20150425/dice-united-1les8s1wk4flj1i6fie2q37vm7.html .
In "El Chiringuito", a tv football program where some different periodists are working: Pipi Estrada (usually bullshit) says that Madrid offered 6 million (I suppose that 6 million NET) and United 265.000 euros a week and Pedrerol(the presenter of the program and pro-Madrid) said 3 days ago that De Gea has decided to go to Madrid doesn´t matter if Iker is in the team http://www.bernabeudigital.com/merc...de-gea-tiene-decidido-ir-al-real-madrid-35589 .
Well guys, sorry if the info of As is not the best, I wrote it because is a speculation thread. In Spain there is not pro Madrid press, I´d say that all the press is pro madrid (less sport and mundodeportivo) therefore to reject the information because of the origin is not always the best idea.
I trust all the press("el confidencial" is the best IMO), probably BBC and Sky are very reliable but they write a week before the club announcement, when is impossible to be wrong.

Yep, it's not as easy as it sounds. Real are not so stable and a gentleman's agreement from Real that De Gea will be offered a contract if he runs down his contract here may not happen also. I am sure he is well aware of his options.

Let's take this scenario for example. DDG declares he won't sign a contract and leave for free end of next season. Then early next season, he suffers a horrible injury (god forbid) and he is off for the best part of the year. Real Madrid will then be in two minds on whether they should sign him or not. If they decide not to, then the ball is firmly on our court as DDG would definitely want to extend with us.

In essence, rarely will a player take this kind of a route as there is too much risk. DDG will definitely sign a contract sometime this season to secure his future and Real hwill ave to buy him with with transfer money.

It could happen but in all likelihood it won't. This hypothetical scenarios seldom unfold. Goalkeeper position is very non-injury prone too.

I know it is quite rare but we have a clear example of this in Valdes.

I agree. My point being a player will look to avoid this kind of a risk. It's all very good when he is wanted by all. If situations change and no one wants him then running down a contract is a dangerous thing to do.

IMO, he will definitely sign another contract. He might still leave end of this season (or next).

I think you'll find it's mainly based on Van Gaal's bleak assessment of where we're at in the negotiations.

Clearly so – yes. People aren't THAT hysterical. Fact is that what LVG had to say was pretty bleak – or at the very least not very uplifting. Of course people react to this – not least because many have been waiting for a statement to the contrary by either LVG or DDG himself.

Been pretty bad recently. Seems like he is one foot in Madrid. Hope i am wrong.

Has he? Had cock ups against City and Liverpool that fortunately didn't cost us any points but that's it. Nothing he could have done about any of the goals yesterday.

Always thought he'd sign but starting to doubt it now, which is admittedly based on nothing aside from the fact he's still not signed and we're approaching the end of the season.

Madrid would be hard to turn down to be fair, I just always hoped that his allegiance to Athletico would be in our favour.

I think it's quite clear he doesn't want to be here, otherwise he'd have signed by now rather than delay it. Whether he moves to Real Madrid this Summer or next is not important to me, I'd hope we'd replace him sooner rather than later.

If he moves to Real Madrid I hope he'll find himself on the bench while Casillas is number one. Nothing against him really but that'd be sort of funny.
