If they are banned and they appeal like Barcelona did then it still puts us in a position of strength as they wouldn't even be able to sign him on a free the following season assuming they get the same ban.
That would be mint  Would increase our chances of signing Reus ten fold.

They would go the Barca way, appeal and then spend like crazy in this summer transfer window.

I could see them going all out with ridiculous offers to get Reus, Pogba our Dave etc.

Agreed, it would probably be worse for us in one sense if they do get a ban as it means they'd go all out for De Gea this summer rather than be happy to wait another year like they might be now.

 I love how much that poll has changed over the last 24 hours, it was almost 50/50 before this "news"... and the news is clearly bs!

No, it's been 70/30 all week, never went as low as 50/50 as far as I can remember. No significant change on this news either, up a couple of points, that's all.
Oh, I could've sworn it was well under 300 "Yes" and around 200 "No", guess I wasn't paying enough attention :nervous:

Pete Bolton who has some decent united links says De Gea is close to renewing too, so it seems it's very close. Over the moon I must admit!

I will celebrate it like a title win, not joking!

Fantastic! This guy is a proper ITK and has really good connections with the club. Heck Darren Fletcher invited him to his house party after the CL win in 08!

This guy moves about quick. Since when did he start working for the Mail. Seems not long ago when he switched to the BBC

 I was thinking the same. This time last year I'm nearly certain he was still with the MEN. Raiola must be his agent or something! :p

Same here guys, I was always in a positive frame with De Gea anyway, but this has definitely lightened my mood. Like you mentioned he's chummy with a few players and the Neville's I believe also - so any little info like that is definitely more valuable than the papers IMO. I guess we will soon find out!

If Ogden is considered useless, then there are no useful journalists. He's easily one of the better ones.

Nope he hasn't been reliable for a while now, since his source dried up. And as said, just resorts to posting clickbait articles.

That isn't lazy journalism.
Since last year he hasn't been in the loop regarding United. Even when Herrera's transfer was almost complete he tweeted that he knows nothing. He then asked around and a day later tweeted that sources have indeed confirmed to him that the Herrera transfer is going ahead.

Didn't Ogden say that last time he spoke to someone Herrera was off and as far as he knows nothing has changed. Few days later Herrera was officially ours?

It's not lazy journalism to make an article saying that Real Madrid, who have been rumoured to sign De Gea for months, want to sign him on a free transfer?

Ok.

Not really and that wasn't all the article said.

Not knowing something about one transfer doesn't mean you know nothing about others. Again, if that's the standard, then there are no reliable/credible journalists.

But as I said, regarding United he hasn't been informed lately. We have signed many players in the summer and he wasn't the one to break any of these stories. Whereas before that everything he wrote about United happened to be true.

He has no idea what's going on at United since Moyes left. The average Caftard could write his United related articles, without much trouble. But, to be fair to the guy, nobody really knows what's going on, every transfer leak pretty much comes form the other club, not from United these days.

I actually think this is the case with us now. Under LVG absolutely no reliable information has been getting leaked. I find myself only paying attention to rumours coming from the other side.

I think so. Though iirc, pretty much all English journos were saying they knew nothing. Only got picked up early from the Spanish side of things.

OK, the article actually is just about Madrid, not de Gea.

How I understood it, Real doesn't really want to buy a new GK this summer, but would like a new one in 18 months, so they see a chance of getting de Gea for free. If we would put him on sale now, they would need to buy him next summer, which is not ideal for them.

Everything else he wrote about de Gea was that de Gea is happy, but wouldn't be against going to Madrid, while it's not a must for now.

Moyes was leaking stuff to the journos, who he was chummy with. Glad that's been put an end to
