Have to be honest he was awful today, I can see the qualities in him but this wasnt his night at all.
Konate was the player who headed it twice and was starting for the first time in a long time. Even Martin Keown was crediting Upamecano after a few long diagonals from Konate..How do you guys know which one is which? I couldn't tell who was Konaté and who was Upamecano. The one who headed the ball twice was impressive.
Is Kounde that bad on the ball? Seen it suggested that he was City's first choice before they settled on Dias.
Upacalamity today..UpamecaNo?
I'd have to take your word for it because honestly I've only seen him play 5-6 times, and in terms of defensive mistakes he's right with them and mind you playing in a worse league. If not for his low quoted release clause I wouldn't consider him for a second. Much better off building from the ground up.They are slaughtered when they do make mistakes like he did make tonight. The difference is he's young and isnt making those mistakes quite as often, while also contributing more on the ball
Did the same thing against PSG in the CL semi final last season.
He's a very mobile defender, just not as mobile as Rashford.

That was an absolute disgrace.
It raises serious question marks about his attitude.
This was a complete joke, I was actually laughing at the replay when I saw it. Shockingmy God I’m just after watching the replay of him trying to get back after that forward burst.
Better competition at the top but we have much better depth just off the eye test but I take your point.Which of those leagues had 2 teams in the semi finals of the champions league and also the winners?
It wasnt the premier league
Yeah... no.
Give the minutes to Axel instead.
He's quite experienced for 22 years old player, but still 22 years old is not that much time to learn everything about decision making. Its not so much a mobility issue, its that he didnt have cover for trying to play on the front foot and closing down Fernandes who had a moment of genius with the quick throughball. RB defend with a press which is front foot defending and when you press you leave gaps. This was another part of that where Upamacano tried to put pressure on Fernandes instead of letting our best player have time and space on the ball and allow him to do whatever he wanted with his pass. If Shaw and AWB were playing for Upamacano's team you would expect them to help cover when the CB is out of position. Its normal defending and you see it from Liverpool or whoever else. On this occasion RB couldnt cope and cover and our front players blitzed them in that move. Thats why you have players with the quality of Fernandes in the hole and mobile attackers like we have with Rashford and Martial
On the first goal Greenwood timed his run very well and finished 11/10 like normal
For me the main mistake was Rashford's 2nd where he gets dribbled past. He committed in a situation where he looked to be the last man. That was too reckless. Its different when your defence is set up around you and theres time and space for your team to cover your position. That one was just reckless defending. He's caught on the backfoot when Fred wins the ball and it trickles to Rashford and then he tries to adjust his feet and Rashford dances past him. That was the concerning one imo. If Lindelof or Magure did that I'd be pissed, like when they make the other poor mistakes they do make
Axel100%. Axle is our guy. As is the young cb in line after him, Tenden Mengi. No need to be spending more on CB, except when we are ready to let Jones go elsewhere - definitely need to pay him off
Made Shaw look like Mo FarahThis was a complete joke, I was actually laughing at the replay when I saw it. Shocking
Agree with that, I think the cafe rubbing in salt to this guy and their manager is just a symptom of all the doom and gloom towards our own players and a little tongue in cheek.Just goes to show that people tend to go mad over any player not at United. Having said that, he's still a young lad and has huge potential. One game shouldn't change that.

The season is young so the position in the league kind of reflect on one month’s form. Premier league team number 15 just beat Bundesligas number 1 team with 5-0.Isnt that just based on familiarity? I mean sure to us we're aware of more quality in the premier league because we watch it all the time. If we watched the Bundasliga all the time we'd be just as aware of all the quality there too
At one point he ran with the ball forward, misplaced a pass and walked back because he didn't have the strength to even jog. There were some serious mobility issues on display from what I saw. A mistake that by all accounts should have led to a goal if the CL hadn't seemingly changed the handball rule when the ball is on the ground. Its not so much a mobility issue

Comfortably the worst defensive performance I've seen this season. On par with Rudiger for Germany during the last NT break.

Konate is a colossus. I expect us to go for Upa, but I think buying his partner would be a more shrewd piece of business.Upamecano was terrible today. His partner Konate was far better.
We'll pay 80 million soHave to be honest he was awful today, I can see the qualities in him but this wasnt his night at all.
I am fully up for slaughtering him. As a former CB myself this was unacceptable. If I came into the changing room, being at fault for 3 goals, I would apologise to my teammates.Although Upemecano is better than today’s performance, just goes to show how as United fans we always think grass is greener on the other side. No doubt he’s always been comfortable on the ball but Mags and Lindleof would’ve been slaughtered today for half the mistakes he made

This is spot on mate..To be fair I think the way we’ve set up our defensive system since the international break would make Upamecano look like the greatest defender in history. He had a poor game but the Liepzig tactics did neither Upamecano or Konate any favours.
