He’s how old, and played how many games in the PL? That’s why.
Hes 22 ffs. This age obsession is getting absolutely ridiculous.

Pay the release clause. We might have sorted our back line for at least the next 3-5 years.
Think that only activates end of next season. Could be wrong though.

Could Tuanzebe develop into our version of Upamecano, if he can stay fit and get 25 odd games next year?
We could pay higher than the release clause to sweeten the deal and get him this summer. That's how big clubs roll.Think that only activates end of next season. Could be wrong though.

Ya make it sound like he's 28.
Well one season where he didnt play for us through injury. Year before, he was playing for Villa. No I don’t. I make out that he’s barely ever played for us, and so cannot be relied upon to be part of a cohort of CBs. Unfortunately he’s had a number of injuries which means we have no idea whether he is going to make it, if he does, it’s a bonus, but he can’t be counted on to be part of the first team squad.
Especially as we have 25 squad places and players like greenwood and Williams wont count towards that number due to their age.Well one season where he didnt play for us through injury. Year before, he was playing for Villa.
I am not a fan of discarding highly rated players from our youth set up that easily. He deserves a proper chance.
It's not just from one injury though. It's his 3rd consecutive injury layoff now so it's a bit worrying.Well one season where he didnt play for us through injury. Year before, he was playing for Villa.

Exactly. Im a big fan of Upamecano but wouldn't be too keen on involving Tuanzebe in any deal. He deserves a proper chance here.Especially as we have 25 squad places and players like greenwood and Williams wont count towards that number due to their age.
5 Centre backs seems a good level for the squad (with mengi also on the perifery)
Maguire, lindeloff, bailly, Jones, and axl... if we can get a decent offer for jones and bring in a better player who can stay fit all the better (upamencano would be my pick given his buyout clause and current level & potential)
This is assuming smalling and rojo are not around next year which seems likely
Your not going to get a world class established defender who wants to be 5th choice cb so perfect for a young player who if he takes his chances can move up the pecking order
No chance we are signing him. He had a 40 million clause expire around June and with our pursuit of Sancho, this 'one at a time approach' means we will likely only sign Jadon and potentially a midfielder.
Selling with a buy back fee would be fine though. Tuanzebe realistically isn't going to get the chances he needs at his age. He's played way too little football for being 22, he's injured way too much and won't get more than random sub appearances and cup games here. He's also not really suited to being Maguires partner. He needs to basically go to a different club, different league would help, where he can develop. If he's good enough, bring him back in, but he needs minutes and he won't get them here.Exactly. Absolutely sign him.So lets say we decided we really wanted him. And RB told us he'd cost £60 million. Would you want us to pay it even though we could maybe have signed him for less before he signed a new deal?
For me its a yes because of his quality. If it was a normal player not so much, but nobody else bought him before his new contract either so I would have no problem paying more to get him. Assuming the cost wasn't ridiculous like we paid last summer
Seems that either a club signs him this summer or Bayern ends up pulling a Bayern and signing him next summer for his clause effectively keeping him for his prime...
Would love to send a bid in for him or Konate, either one would improve us at back
No chance we will get him next summer when his release clause is so low, every big club will be circling and predictably Bayern have already started on it.
What would he cost this summer just out of interest now he has signed that new contract
He had a 60m clause expired on June 30th before extending his contract earlier this summer. Now it's reportedly going to be 45m and active only next summer and the likes of Bayern (who will need to replace Boateng soon), PSG and Madrid have reportedly already registered their interest in him for next summer.
Arsenal reprotedly tried to sign him last year but couldn't afford the 60m
I will give Leipzig 60m euros and get him this summer or pay the release fee and allow him stay the season.
We cannot allow him move elsewhere.
We need to be ruthless if want to get back to winning ways asap. If the goal is to only develop local lads and somehow qualify for Champions League for next 4,5 years than keep pinning hopes on unproven and average players just because they are "home grown".Exactly. While this is true it’s pertains more towards German players than foreign players. Again that is not to say he won’t move to Bayern next summer but surely if clubs offer more money then his head will be turned. When Bayern want a player based in Germany, they get him.

He's also represented by a German Agency which gives Bayern a advantage in negotiations and the tapping up process. When Bayern want a player based in Germany, they get him.
The club has wasted multi-millions in the pursuit of being ruthless in the transfer market and it has diddly squat to do with the youth players. We need to be ruthless if want to get back to winning ways asap. Being ruthless and being stupid are two entirely different things. We have been stupid since 2013.The club has wasted multi-millions in the pursuit of being ruthless in the transfer market and it has diddly squat to do with the youth players.
Rather than be ruthless we should be more prudent in the transfer market.
We haven't been stupid but rather naive in giving managers control of recruitment.Being ruthless and being stupid are two entirely different things. We have been stupid since 2013.
