Day 7: Tunisia vs Australia | Poland vs Saudi Arabia | France vs Denmark | Argentina vs Mexico

Lewandowski's dry spell ends. He'll go crazy now.

FFS .

This is the kind of final hurdle that is hard for minnow teams to overcome. They can be drilled great and have some good patterns of play but ultimately struggle to convert at the right end and eventually feck things up at the back. Shame.

Swap strikers between the 2 teams and it's a saudi stomp, so undeserved.

This is why individual brilliance > patterns of play

tbf KSA scored two freak goals last game. They used all their luck

Saudi defender channelling his inner Stevie G.

Why try such a daft studs over ball control there. Utterly mad.

Well deserved. 4 best chances have been for Poland

Could easily be 4-3 Poland or even 4-4.
Poland have been more clinical although they haven't been very clinical themselves either. Saudis have somehow been more fun to watch though.

Worst possible result for Argentina this. They have to win their two remaining games now. Really interested to see how they deal with this pressure against Mexico later.

Games like this will make football more popular in the region and surrounding areas.

feck anyone opposing this world cup.
you can enjoy (some of) the games and still say Qatar should never have been awarded the tournament. Some people are able to think more than one thing at a time

Good finish by Lewa also, text book low and into the corner..

So if Argentina lose they're officially out. They'll be cagey about committing forward and so will talentless Mexico. Brewing up to be a shit game already.

Taking a thread off topic

Of course. Like usa shouldn't have been awarded the next, im sure you'll agree.

Doesn't seem to be Saudi's day, played well but bad mistakes at the back and unable to finish chances has been costly.

What are the three way tie braking rules it seems this group is headed that way

https://soccer.nbcsports.com/2022/1...stage-tiebreaker-rules-at-the-2022-world-cup/

Goal differential first followed by goals scored second. Then it gets really interesting.

If two or more teams are still “tied” after applying these tiebreakers, FIFA moves on to a second round of tiebreakers:
  • Greatest number of points obtained in group matches between the teams concerned
  • Superior goal difference resulting from the group matches between the team concerned
  • Greatest number of goals scored in all matches between the teams concerned
  • Highest team conduct score – team conduct score is based on the number of yellow and red cards a team has obtained. The team with the highest team conduct score will receive the higher ranking.
    • Yellow Card: Minus one point
    • Indirect Red Card (acquired via two yellow cards): Minus three points
    • Direct Red Card: Minus four points
    • Yellow Card and Direct Red Card: Minus five points
