Day 19: Brazil vs Mexico and Belgium vs Japan

Passive from Lukaku, should be alert enough to get on that ball from Kompany

I'd rather just take a look at this thread and make no comments, but it's incredible all this grudge against this Brazilian side. That's OK if you don't like how Brazil has been playing (although I'm very satisfied with their performances in the last two games) or even dislike Neymar's personality and diving (believe me... he's far from being beloved here) but trying to lump all the players with his actions doesn't make any sense.

By the way, let's see if Belgium will receive all this feeling of hatred in case they don't fulfill anyone's expectations against a team better prepared than Panamá and Tunisia like this Japanese side.

Who is? There's been complimentary remarks on Coutinho and Willian and rightly so.

I think Japan are doing well so far to be honest. They're not just sitting back with no attacking intent, which I respect.

:D Honestly, not boring, just neither team have broken through yet. It’s a good back and forth match.

0-0 at the moment. Both teams having a good start to the game. Seem well matched.
Looks pretty lopsided to me. Japan looks incapable of moving the ball past midfield. Belgium hasn't scored yet because they've showed zero quality in the final third.

At least Belgium are trying to penetrate and score, unlike the Spanish yesterday -- one of the most disgraceful, boring WC displays I've ever had the displeasure of watching.

Last time Brazil won the WC, they struggled in qualifier for the WC. Same WC, Argentina on the other hand trumped the qualifier yet to shite the bed in the WC. And we have people talking about the Coference Cup curse.
Right, and your point is?
Peru's qualified for the WC, but doesn't mean they're rated at better team than say Chile. One can have a good (qualifying) campaign. Doesn't a measure stick for team quality. Not rare to have highly rated team miss out the WC finals.
Don't think Chile would do much better than Peru.
Favorite for the World Cup itself should be considered based on how the team perform in the WC, not qualifiers. And that comes to the point where Brazil doesn't display what you described as solidity.
Exactly. Reason why I think Brazil players and techical staff after watching Belgium today probably won't sleep tonight because they are more solid... or not.

This game reminds me, remember when we tried to convince ourselves that Kagawa would be a better signing than Hazard? Yeah...

Shinji playing very well, taking the ball under pressure and allowing Japan to maintain the ball. Strange how how game has changed though, at his peak in Dortmund pre Utd he was a true scoring threat but even when I have watched him back in Germany he seems to have lost this.

This match is going to be a Fellaini game isn't it?
