Day 18: Croatia vs Brazil | Netherlands vs Argentina (QF 1&2)

When Neymar's career is done he'll be thought of as a wasted talent. Always been far too inconsistent to be considered one of the world's best.

5th taker.
This is a nuts strategy. You want to make sure you score your first three penalties. And you make sure Neymar is one of them (especially head of the dude who took the first one)

Have they danced out? oh dear

Lads, I think that it's actually coming home. :(

   Well done 4m Croatia. Congratulations England or France.
I find it funny how people keep making deterministic assumptions on winners out of the same increasingly thinning pool of candidates.

Or that Argentina has been discarded already.

Jesus. Credit to Croatia for being invincible aside, that has to be seen as a massive upset for Brazil.

For once I feel sorry for Brazil. Their off the ball was brilliant. Croatia offered nothing in attack but managed to keep them out. Feels like they let that one slip rather than play badly.

Argentina really need to step up now, they have the Netherlands and Croatia on a way to a potential final with Brazil being out. I can't wait to see whether they step up and rise to the challenge or crack under the pressure. Damn, would love to see what's going on in Buenos Aires now in the build-up!

I have no stats to back this up but there's something about a team that concedes minutes before a shootout going on to lose that shootout. It's that gut punch that just deflates a team.

Someone should look into this :wenger:

Does Rodrygo ever take pens for Madrid? Was weird seeing him go first.

Great for the underdog but we'll see another "playing for penalties" at the semis. Will be another 120min torture if everything goes to plan for the croats.

Brazil get what their arrogance deserves.

Can tell Croatia take pens seriously. Immaculate penalties with no idiotic run ups.

Brazil meanwhile send what looked like a 12 year old up to take the first one.
Absolutely spot on, good comment.

Croatia are just phenomenal
They legitimately won 1 game in the whole tournament  . How can anyone say that with straight face
If only Lukaku hadn't been a donkey, they wouldn't be here.

Bit disappointed that’s the chance of a Brazil Argentina semi final over already

they dominated Brazil in the middle of the park. Can’t argue they don’t deserve to win this one.
1 shot on target and it was at the end of extra time? Unless you think sideways passing means you deserve to win? Brazil were the better team. Fair play to Croatia though.

How do you not put the best penalty takers at the front of the queue??

Do you want bottlers taking the last one? I can see the argument for both. Still not sure why they sent the at young lad up for the first one. At least start strongly and send Casemiro up first. Send the young lad for one of the middle ones.

Personal insult after I fecked off most boring WC team out there and haven't insulted anyone personally? Amazing of you, no wonder you like them. Figures.

And yeah, again, they can feck right off. Enjoy watching trash football.

 if telling you to feck off is personal then apologies for that. I'll enjoy watching a team with no resources beat the big guys until the big guys learn to put them away easily like they should. Brazil should be ashamed.

Sending Rodrygo out first was insane. That's where they lost it. Should have been taken by Neymar, Casemiro or someone whose been in that situation before.

Bringing on Fred and him being the attacker as the counter happened for the goal was pure madness from Brazil. They didnt need a second goal but they sure as hell needed to ensure they were not countered on and a 4 on 4. ffs. What the hell was that?

Man, feel for our Brazilian players - big wasted chance but, Croatia are a tough nut to crack, none more so than their keeper.

They legitimately won 1 game in the whole tournament  . How can anyone say that with straight face
If only Lukaku had been a donkey, they wouldn't be here.

Jesus christ, already explained. I meant the mentality of the squad, never beaten, always mentally and technically prepared for a shoot out. They look dead on their feet half the time and still manage to get through.

When Neymar's career is done he'll be thought of as a wasted talent. Always been far too inconsistent to be considered one of the world's best.
He scored the goal of the tournament that should have won the game while being half fit. And he's never been inconsistent since he moved to Europe. Ronaldo or Messi score that goal while having a quiet game and it would be one of the most iconic moments and we'd all sing their praises.
