Day 14: Mexico vs Sweden, South Korea vs Germany, Serbia vs Brazil, Switzerland vs Costa Rica

England would be favourites against Uruguay, Argentina and Portugal though with France hardly setting the world alight.
I think Croatia and Spain beat you.

I think Brazil would knock us out before we even get to the semis. That's if we even get past the R16. Much rather have one of Sweden/Switzerland in the QF.

Neymar is the player that people who hate the game because of the theatrics/diving/flopping(whatever your regional equivalent) are thinking about.

Typical english arrogance.

When was the last time England knocked a heavyweight out of a tournament? Knock some of them out and then you can talk about beeing a favorite against any of those.

If you are not english, sorry.

I just don't see it with Gabriel Jesus. I remember Danny Murphy said he's the best youngster he's seen since Messi.

France is the one I always think of - unless I'm remembering badly, they were such heavy favourites to retain with Henry coming into his prime etc.

Spain and Italy I think weren't quite as shocking (the latter more so).

You're right!
Along with Argentina, France was heavy favourite to win that World Cup. They were compared to a fine wine, getting better with age. Both of them were sent off.

Spain wasn't considered as great as they were some years before in 2014, but they were still a powerhouse. I expected that Chile would knock out Netherlands instead of them.

Italy was very weak in 2010 and I vividly remember to have betting on their failure. Terrible COnfederations Cup, awful performances and such.

Judging by their performances in the last games, Germany out is less shocking for me than Spain 2014.

I don't think he's English. We wouldn't be the favourites against any of those teams, let alone Brazil in the QF if we top our group, so I'd much rather be on the other side of the bracket.

You'd know all about arrogance.

On Englishmen minds, probably. Not in real world though.

I expected more from Serbia, they've been poor. I don't see them posing Brazil any problems in the second half.

Thing is, teams like France would probably be setting the world alight if they'd had to face shite like Tunisia and Panama so far.

The green smile after the white text.

Serbia play like West Brom - their game plan is balls into the box to Mitrovic. They really need more runners on the wings.

Neymar could easily make himself much more likable by just cutting out the fecking play acting/feigning of injury.
Honestly, he was so bad at the last world cup I actually celebrated when the Colombian guy went in dirty and broke his back. I never celebrate injuries but there's a beautiful irony to a guy that's always looking on the verge of death when he's nearly touched and then actually feeling a real injury.

That fecking roll on the touchline. I could never support a player like that at the club.

I think that Neymar is the player I dislike most. Heck it, would take a Serbia win at this stage just to see him cry.

Neymar almost rolled out of the stadium, what the hell was that about?

Tite deserve credit for having us so organized defensively. Alisson really hasn’t done anything in almost 3 games.

This is why I think you'll end up winning it. You're not really setting the world alight but you've been the best team in the tournament defensively. It almost feels like Brazil are a european team.

I love how some Swedish people use every opportunity to have a dig at the best player this country has ever produced.
Must really suck for some that his last name is Ibrahimovic.

God forbid someone criticise Zlatan or not take part to his bandwagon.

As a Swede with foreign background I got plenty of Swedish footballers to be proud about; an ex-captained that refused to be part of the national team except if the team was built around him, rather than getting the best out of the team - or who nowdays take every opportunity he has to belittle Sweden - well, a person like that is obviously not one of my idols.

But go ahead. Use another race card just to cover your own ignorance, only because I managed to touch your nerve. It makes it more enjoyable for me.

Not sure what people think of Brazil here but to me they've played some good football at times. Will be interesting to see if they can string an authoritative performance over 90 minutes. If Brazil progress I think they're a threat to anyone.

They blow a lot of hot and cold. Create good chances, but have dodgy finishes. It also does not help that Neymar is their star player who thinks he can score too many worldies.
