Day 11: England vs Panama, Japan vs Senegal and Poland vs Colombia

Panama celebrating like they actually won the game ffs.

You are wrong. England look better than previous years. Bit suspect in midfield, but most top teams have their own weaknesses in the world cup.

Dier will shield the defense in big games. Ultimately, England could be knocked out but its' wrong to write them off as a flat track bully alone.

Dier won't play barely 45 minutes in this tournament and England look suspect in both midfield and defence. First proper test against a good side and they will be out

If it stays like this and we draw against Belgium, who finishes first? Exact same GD and goals scored and conceded. Lots?
I’d assume it would be goal difference in games involving the top 3 in the group. Most likely that will be Tunisia so Belgium would win the group.

There's no way this doesn't all end in tears for England when they finally come up against a good team (Belgium's reserves don't count). People's expectations will be spiked by this daft scoreline and they'll forget that the defence is shite and the goals have mostly come from poorly-defended set pieces. I could see another 4-1 (or worse) if they play Germany.

Southgate definitely has the right approach. England aren't going to put up defensive master classes. Going forward, try to outscore.

We're yet to play anyone of class, I feel Southgate will have them playing with a little more care against Belgium et al. That said, I'm enjoying watching this England team, they look confident and hungry.

We don't need Rashford right now. Southgate is keeping Sterling on to boost his confidence prove his faith in him.
Yeah that's true but honestly I don't see Sterling starting against Belgium. Reckon Rashford will start ahead of him and hopefully keep his place.

Part of the fun though. For the last few major tournemants this wouldn’t have ended 6-1.

Thanks for the positivity.

because England would be first with a draw against Belgium if they would have a 9:2 goal difference after today.

Now it's probably the fair play rule after a possible draw against Belgium. Don't know who has more yellow cards at the moment.

Lets be honest...If India make it to the World Cup and score a consolation you would celebrate!

Those celebrations gave me a smile.
Me too. It's nice to see how much it means to them to score a goal. Great stuff.
Both sets of supporters will leave happy:)

First play either brazil or Germany (it will be germany too) though

Need a couple of bookings.

That only happens when there's a three way tie at the top of the group, so definitely not in this case.

England-Germany would be a really good match up I think in this tournament. England would certainly make chances

Teams England need to avoid in knock outs imo: France, Brazil and Spain. Maybe Portugal aswell but I think England could win that if they keep Ronaldo quiet.

Likes of Mexico and Croatia would be 50/50 games.

Shit second half once again, I know the game was won already + the heat and all but slow, sideways rubbish.

On the basis of good chances from open play to be honest this has been pretty even, we've just absolutely hammered them at set plays. Think the Tunisia 1st half performance was actually better as we created more from open-play.

I was up on our chances based on Belgium's defence yesterday but we are rubbish going forward, Belgium will tear us a new arsehole on the evidence so far.

I agree, it’s nauseating. I’d say the commentary and punditry in England games is why a large part of the rest of the UK can’t stand them winning. Excellent set pieces aside I don’t think England have been that good really. They’ve haven’t exactly cut them apart in open play. Belgium were more impressive yesterday for me.

Agree completely. And I'm not biased (I'm English).

Don't think so personally. England look very, very good. They have pace and plenty of goals. Genuinely think they're getting to the final. They look balanced and probably been the most impressive team so far now, imo.

Wow, fair enough.

Personally I think that although the path to semis is fairly nice for England, I think the knockout round \9Japan or Senegal) will immediately bring a reality check, and the quarters will be as far as we go.

Completely understandable. We won it in the first half, why bust a gut in the second? Players will be thinking of saving legs for next games.
