Day 11 | Albania vs Spain | Croatia vs Italy

They did but ref played advantage. Croatia had a counter attack before where the guy could've just ran to the corner flag but he passed inside and they lost the ball so with a minute left there's where they were eliminated tonight baring a miracle.
Yup, their game management was awful. Every single time they bombed forward in injury time, I couldn't understand why they'd not just keep the ball in the corner. Very poor injury time for them.

Calafiori literally ran the entire pitch length and puts a perfectly weighted pass to Zaccagni.

What a magical finish.

Yet he cannot really play as a CB because he is a liability whenever he forgets his main duties (3 games out of 3 now). Play him 20 meters ahead, instead of Jorginho, and field Mancini or Gatti as a natural CB with Bastoni.
What did he do wrong in the first game? Very little against Spain. And very little wrong this time. By far your best player so far in the tournament.

People here complaining about teams being "boring", as if England isn't playing the most dire, soul-crushing football in the tournament.

That was a tense match with an outrageous finish. I wasn't bored at any point.

Move him to DM, you say? He can play there too? Jesus.

Drury after a draw between Croatia and Italy in the group stage - “football is taking human beings to places they never imagined existed”

What’s your point? People who say this about Italy are also saying it about England. This is not the gotcha you think it is.

Which is precisely why the England team is facing intense scrutiny and that backlash has already meant that Southgate won't be the manager this time next month.

If England thump Slovenia and Turkey beat Czech, Croatia still go through I think? Impossible with Southstate at the wheel though.
England have to win 3-0 or win by at least four goals if they concede, Denmark have to either win or lose by at least three goals and Turkey and Portugal both have to win.

If any of those four matches don't go Croatia's way they're out. So, theoretically they're still in it with a chance, but in reality they're fecked.

Just reduces the stakes. More football, slightly less exciting. Shit was probably a strong word though.
Dunno. That was pretty exciting. Giving the 4th placed team a chance of going through before the last game spices it up. If anything, it reduces the amount of dead rubbers.

Theoretically, it should get more exciting as the games go on and they know if they have to score a certain amount of goals to get third.

I know it’s maybe not an obvious priority to most fans, but having what you would call smaller nations in the tournament for longer will improve the long term quality of those nations. Theres loads of potential in countries such as Romania and Georgia, the game is better if they improve.

A Martinez x Bastoni partnership would be pretty unreal to be fair.

It would probably be Martínez at LB, Bastoni LCB, and another RCB signed to play with them. However, they would revert to a back 3 in possession.

This is twice you've brought England into it, despite nobody claiming that they play great football. Weird.

The first half was boring and dull.
But the second half was amazing. A missed penalty, only for the same player to score a minute later, some good chances and an amazing last minute goal.
