It's a remarkable thing to say. Self belief is essential in professional sport but that can be an internal thing. To be back to speaking like this after two wins and a draw, having failed catastrophically at three jobs in a row is likely to infuriate many, or at least the fans of those clubs, perhaps he should have said I can do any job in the world apart from an united. Absolutely, he played us at least twice a season for 10 years so i am sure most managers worth their salt would have a good idea of United's strengths and weaknesses at that stage and should have been able to provide a long list of potential targets. Given how Everton weren't exactly flush with cash at that time you'd think he would be used to drawing up a list of first choices and alternatives too.

Again some people seem to completely misunderstand how transfers at united work. He wan't managing Real Madrid at United the manager picks which players to sign. Moyes picked the impossible targets not Woodward. Moyes wanted Fellaini but didn't want to sign him first. That whole shambles of a transfer window was 90% (if not more) down to Moyes lack of preparation, unrealistic targets, lack of back up targets, dithering and the crazy idea of wanting to sign players in a particular order.
I understand David wanting to show his critics and also rebuild his reputation with fighting words, but it can't be nice for West Ham fans to hear him imply that - like Sunderland - their club is apparently a mere stepping-stone.
