David Moyes | Everton Manager

Moyesy, tell them if you'll accept as long as you have a job next season as Everton or Roma manager.

While Moyes did well for us I'd rather look to the future. It's not an exciting appointment. We roughly know what he offers. It would just be nice to be a trendsetter rather than a club lagging behind everyone else.
Or you could get relegated ? Bring him in. Stabilize the club financially and point wise and then move on.

I would hate to see Everton go down

That's great for him that he did that, and we were grateful for that at the time but maybe we see football differently. I personally as a fan of my club want to see something new and fresh, and go for a different option and direction as a club. If Moyes comes in I will support him and hope he does well but it doesn't mean it's an inspiring appointment and I am surprised anyone thinks it is.
Hard to be inspired by Moyes but it does seem sensible. He's on the better, more entertaining end of the scale where managers like Dyche are concerned to be fair. Carsley would help sell it a bit, wouldn't he?
In an ideal world you'd keep him for 18 months. He gets to manage the last game at Goodison Park and first game at the new stadium and you pay him a pile of money (cant see it being that attractive otherwise) at which point Carsley takes over. Gives Carsley a bit of time to adjust to club football, get a coaching team built up and a couple of transfer windows to bring in players that wont get murdered in a more ambitious system.
I just think you have a few older players like Gueye, Tarkovski and of course Young that will limit what kind of football you can succeed at for a time. Think your stuck with safety first boredom a bit longer

Need to bring back Fellaini, Baines, and Jagielka as staffs. What kind of staff is irrelevant. Just bring them back.

We could get relegated with Dyche staying or with Moyes coming in. Nothing is guaranteed.

Oh yeah, I can understand why they'd go for Moyes, especially if the idea is to have Carsley involved too in some way. He's a better manager than Dyche and plays better football. It's just not a sexy option, that's all.

I think very recently my opinion has shifted in terms of safety first to one of my life is short and not guaranteed so I just want to be able to see something new and exciting.

Seems to be the case most places he goes. Then they appreciate the job he did after the next guys mess it all up.
I think the problem though with us, you and West Ham though is that we have all made terrible boardroom decisions after he left, usually concerning transfers and spending far too much money on crap.

Uninspiring choice. I guess I can understand the thought process. Safe pair of hands to ensure new stadium is opened whilst still in PL. Maybe Carsley is being brought in to learn the ropes with the intention of taking over. He'd be a more inspiring choice if I were an Everton fan. Would Moyes accept a short term role though?

What is it with clubs keep re hiring the same managers. Look elsewhere… there’s dozens of decent managers abroad, Everton need to go down a different route. Bring in a young exciting manager who’ll try to play decent football.

Work with what you know in a crisis versus working with a complete unknown. Whilst of course it either works or it doesn't in both cases, it probably at least feels more likely to work with what you know.

The unflushable turd. Outlasted all the Big Sams, Pardews etc etc by decades. Truly a massive steamer

Good answer. I get that. But what if the club and manager have changed since they was last together. What worked back then may not work now.

Same with Stoke and Pulis.

They thought they were better than him, brought in different managers, spent shit money on rubbish players and ended up dropping back down the league in next to no time.

David Moyes is set to be appointed as Everton boss for the second time, with talks progressing towards a deal being concluded imminently.

The Scot was identified by the club’s new owners, The Friedkin Group (TFG), as its primary target to succeed Sean Dyche after his exit on Thursday.

Negotiations between TFG and Moyes advanced rapidly and an announcement of his return to Goodison Park is expected in the next 24 hours.

Announcement tomorrow probably.

It's the circle of life
And it moves us all
Through despair and hope
Through faith and love
'Til we find our place
On the path unwinding
In the circle
The circle of life

Happy days for you? You've gone through a lot of pain of late!
Would have liked something new and interesting but an understandable choice from the new owners in a difficult market. Important to get something done quickly so we can try and get in some players as we need some reinforcements pronto.

is there even that much sentiment for Moyes at Everton?

This just seems like a move that could depress an already depressed fanbase even more.

Struggling for anything to say on this one. He will do ok, keep them up, and will be in a similiar position he was with West Ham in 2/3 seasons is my best guess (hovering 9th-12th).

If he can get anywhere near Europe it would be a success ofcourse.

Moyes did love a United reject.

I'd love Rashford.
he is the grand prize. you have to work your way up to him using our loyalty scheme. you can get a rashford on loan as one of our preferred partners if you purchase three from our experienced range. models include lindelof, eriksen, casemiro and antony.

all purchases are final and may not be returned. some players may have more miles on the clock than indicated at the time of advertisement.

There’s probably more sentiment now than what there was when he left given what has happened to them since.

I think this is Moyes level, he will keep Everton in the Premier and have them finish around mid table next season which is Everton 's level. Everybody should be happy. I never disliked Moyes just thought we could have done better.

Not official yet but seems like it's a matter of time now. You'd think Moyes is best bet to keep them up and best option available.

Managers with most games managed in PL: 1. Wenger (828), 2. Fergie (810) 3.Moyes (697). He needs 3 full seasons to go above Fergie and 3,5 seasons to go above Wenger as manager with most games managed in history of PL. Could do it at Everton if he is to stay there long enough. And well done to him, still being around after football has changed so much over the last decade and more and more teams are starting to insist on more progressive and modern football.
