Was never his biggest fan but he did make some unbelievable saves. Probably the best reflexes I've ever seen from a goalkeeper.
Good luck Dave.
Good luck Dave.
Yeh and it was ETHs as well. All reports are that it was him who made the decision to withdraw the offer. That's his job.
Sounds like someone's lost the players respect behind the scenes over how this has been handled.
Some memory of yours, that. His save won us a champions league penalty shoot out. He is a club legend.
He deserves a testimonial.
That hits home hard.Proper end of an era. Last player left from Sir Alex’s reign is gone
Pretty damn easy. It was clear to everyone his time here is at an end. Don't offer him a new contract at all and make it clear to him and to everyone else he is not staying months before his contract expires. That way everyone else knows when his last game at Old Trafford is and we can give him a proper goodbye with a standing ovation and all that. You can be both ruthless and competent. The two are not mutually exclusive.
De Gea has spent the last half a decade constantly struggling in pressure situations. There's a fair chance that if we'd told him he was no longer wanted he would have fallen apart at the end of the season and potentially cost us top four or the FA Cup final (he arguably did the latter anyway). None of us know exactly what happened and what decisions were made when, but unfortunately I do think the club and team as a whole were best off with De Gea thinking we still wanted him until after the season ended.
This man has been an impediment to us ever being a great defensive unit. Best paid keeper in the world, with one stand out skill. About time, bye Dave.
Dave's time had come. We could all see that. However, that doesn't take away what he did for United. Was once the main thing between us and genuine mediocrity. Wish him well for the future.
It’s the least he deserves is a testimonial Id of been happy for him to stay and put the added money towards a top striker rather than the average one we might be getting.I hope he gets a testimonial?? Feck me, im saddened by this, but its the right call. Made some unreal saves our Dave.
Never will be a club legend for me. Length of tenure isn't the sole equation for me if it is then people better start putting Jesse Lingard on their lists of club legends given he joined our youth club in 2000 and only has 2 less cup wins than DDG had and wasn't single handily the reason why we lost cups like DDG.
I didn't see people saying this about Jesse Lingard who was with us for 20 years between youth and senior.
So unfortuante that a player of his talent only ever won 1 title. If he signed a decade earlier he would have left with rooms full of trophies
