Triple his wage but every mistake like these he get spanked by whole team, publicly.
If he wants 350k/w, that'll do it.

I keep saying we need a proper GK coach. Can't have his mate around next season. That is not a professional environment. How the feck can United not see that? The is the worse GK coach we have ever had.

His distribution was badly exposed tonight. So often Barca(or City) are pressed high and they go back to the keeper knowing that Ter Stegen or Ederson can pick a ball out up to the half way line, killing the press and the minds of the opponent. Making far too many mistakes this season.

Honest question to those who still think he's the best keeper in the world.

How many more mistakes will it take before you, at least, review this opinion?

Suspect at the top level. World Cup, the PSG game where he made that god awful punch and now tonight..

He can sod off demanding massive wages with the form he's in this season.

Sign the contract or go. We don’t need this crap, I mean unless you’re Ronaldo or Messi it shouldn’t be accepted at all.

He has let himself down this season.

If he wants to go, let him. Can’t grudge him, but he needs to sort it out one way or another. Don’t think he’s as irreplaceable as he once was.

I've been critical about parts of his game for a while now, but now suddenly people want to sell him, saying he makes too many mistakes. He's in poor form, but he actually rarely makes mistakes like the one today. He probably should have stopped Messis first as well tbh. Even Schmeichel had bad patches of form. Hell, Messi has them.

Ddg needs to improve his distribution, no doubt.

It would be a mistake to pay him £350k/week. He's been a great servant during our barren years, but I have a feeling he might just have peaked. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if his agent has already set his heart on Paris.

He's a great goalkeeper of a previous generation in style of keeping. As everyone mentions, his distribution is simply nowhere near the level needed in today's game. He made a dumb mistake, he's made a few, but that happens to all great keepers. I don't think he's the best in the world though, Ter Stegen has comfortably been that guy for me for the last couple of years.

Not sure what's happened to him this season, maybe the world cup really did shatter his confidence but he's made an unusual amount of mistakes. It was a poor goal to concede, especially how early on we conceded it too. Hopefully we see a much better DDG next season.

I don't want to gloat over this but I hope this will at least teach people that he was probably never the best keeper in the world. You need to to bit better at big stage if you want to be the best in the world apart from showing good league form. He is worse tham average at international level, and he didn't show too much in CL too. Neuer who U hate showed far more in these competitions than him(he is past it now though).

I will ignore the mistake, but his distribution is just desperate, this season his distribution is literally the worst distribution I saw from a top keeper. fecking shit how can he be so bad at it?

Unfortunately, the issues with him are mostly mental. He hasn’t grown mentally into his new physique, isn’t commanding his box with any authority, & has potentially checked out mentally due to his contract issue.

I absolutely adore DDG & have consistently defended him when needed, but, while his positives attributes can still be world class, the level where he has consistently been this season is far below his normal, akin to his first season with us.

Do we reward him by giving him the weekly wage he is seeking or do we allow him to go to his dream club? I honestly can’t answer that right now, but am leaning towards the latter.

Neuer, who played for one of the best Bayern teams in history, is more recognized because of the trophies he's won. De Gea was probably the best keeper in the world for at least two seasons with us, under LVG and Jose, without him we would have dropped into midtable. Without Neuer, Bayern would have won the league left comfortably.

I literally said that league form is not all that matters when judging who is the best player in the world in his position.

Bayern won CL, Garmany won major things with Neuer in goal, while he was one of their best players during those competitions.

It's largely forgotten now, but he actually started last season quite poorly as well. It took about two months into the season before he got back to his normal standards. There was a period in the middle of this season where it seemed the same had happened and he had come good again, but he's fallen straight back off again unfortunately.

De Gea was the best in the world for two seasons. Partly because of how good he was, but also partly they were seasons that Neuer wasn't as good or was injured and the other upcoming keepers (who have now arguably passed him) hadn't reached a high enough level yet.

This a good place to start a caf culling.

Mixed bag season, still far from the worst and most inconsistent players - Caf hates on him at every opportunity.

Mentioned DDG's mental fragility in a post a couple of weeks ago and stand by it.

He makes a disproportionate amount of mistakes in knockout tournaments, highlighted by the performance tonight, being beaten too easily at his near post in the Cup Final against Palace, flap against PSG, error vs Sevilla, whole World Cup fiasco etc. This can only be down to mental weakness.

He's a wonderful shot stopper (well, he was until recently) but that aside is average at best in every department.

He's nowhere near VDS or Schmeichel standard, and I've always said that so this isn't a knee-jerk response.

Am I the only one thinking that at his best, he would have saved all three goals? I wouldn't expect it from anyone else but the first shot he got his hand to, and Messi could only place it there. Not poor, but not unstoppable. The second was terrible. The third is a phenomenal strike, but he has saved those in the past.

Funny how fans complain about loyalty. But when a player has a patch of poor form, fans want to get rid. Loyalty doesn’t go both ways it seems. Ridiculous.

You can't be the best keeper in the world if you didn't perform it on the biggest stage. De gea flopped in the world cup and questions marks surrounds his mentality making such blunders in high pressure moments.

Think it’s because he was playing in Spain.

Yeah I guess he could have done it. He is just in a terrible run of form right now.

I am just frustrated with De Gea since there is so much talent in him. Yet I do think it is probably best to bring in a more confident keeper who is strong in the air and more dominant. Think it would help our defense a lot.

His worst season. World class shot-stopper, but has been gradually declining in every other department, especially after Hoek's departure. So when he stops making ridiculous saves or starts making mistakes, you end up with average keeper.

Some absolute nonsense in here. A player goes through a poor patch of form and look at what people come out with nowadays. Madness.

I don't know what it is about Spain but he cannot perform in that country or for that country can he?

He's still by far our best player but he has dropped some clangers this season. Suppose we can let him off given all he's had to do the past five seasons.

That error for the 2nd goal was shocking, made a top save not longer after that but the game was gone by then.

To begin with, he is not loyal. He actively worked under the table behind the back of our club to run his contract down and go on the cheap and Make Perez a favour. He himself said after the deal fell off with the fax incident he was afraid of the fans reaction (because he knew what he did).
Second, demanding half a million a week as a goalkeeper as a condition to stay in the club is clear mercenary act not loyalty.
Third, it is not a patch of poor form, it is a complete garbage season and his form going down everyday.
