Come On, the shot was too powerful and it seemed he was anticipating a shot on the far post and hence the weight was on his right foot. Changing that and saving a shot of that power isn't easy!

Had there not been a runner wide open on the far post that he had to be aware of, he could have likely paid more attention to Willian and the near post.

Scott McT was tracking Willian’s run and then abruptly stopped like a dog wearing a shock collar, in fear of crossing an invisible fence.

Even the world's best keeper allows the odd savable goal in. He has saved far more than he should have so all things said, its not a big deal.

Dave is the last person who deserved to be criticized for that goal but 9 out of 10 times he saves that ball.

Good lad Dave, putting in a weak performance when Madrid are surely paying close attention to this game with him and Courtois playing. Great commitment to to the team.

Someone should have given him a cap, he was clearly having problems with the sun in the second half.

Nice jinx by @B20. Easily his worst performance of the season.

De Gea is smart. Real Madrid scouts were probably in the stands and now for sure they are going after Courtois. De Gea is one of us

Was shaky today on a few occasions compared to his normal form. An off game here and there is no big deal

Not seen a performance like that from him for a long time. Occasionally he makes an error that costs us a goal but very rare for him to look uncomfortable making any type of save. Passing not been great recently.

The harsh truth about our season so far. We can't defend. Also another reminder that De Gea by far is our best player. Give him a new contract and fatten up his pay check substantially, now.

Without Dave's saves we'd be as burnt as Rojo's toasts.

To be fair half of those shots came against Arsenal and Liverpool away when most of them weren't threatening.

First time in years that the rest of the team bailed him out for his mistake basically. Everyone is allowed days off once in a while!

Definitely not his best game, but I don't think the goal was his mistake. Any other goalkeeper, literally, and nobody would blame them for it.

Yes, great to see Manchester United winning a big big game without De Gea being Man of the match!

Nah it was right next to his body. He gambled because he thought he'd go across the post and then didn't react properly to it going near post. Happens, but his mistake as the shot itself was very savable. Also had those couple of spills later on too which didn't come to anything but still tiny mistakes.
De Gea is the best in the world, we judge him as such. Don't see what any normal goalkeeper has to do with anything.

Still think the goal was a bit soft, as it should be a regular save for DDGod.

Yup. That's too rare.

I think his last mistake was.. once last season which nearly ended up in a goal against a small team if I recall correctly. Before that, it's way far back in his first season with us under SAF, where he made too much mistakes and get dropped for a while.

Players will still make mistakes, but some are more consistent than the others. De Gea is a consistent performer, who just had only one bad game this season.

Fair enough. I thought Willian was bursting in with too much speed so his shot was always going to be very powerful and hard to save, and DDG probably tried to guess rather than react, which is unlike him. Wouldn't blame him personally but I can understand why some would.

Off day at the office today. Just a check that he is human too :)
Could have done with those sunglasses from his famous Matrix gif

RM can clearly see that Courtois is better, right?

And if he's signing a new contract that hairstyle has got to go. Get a grip, Dave.

Kinda nice to get a big result and not have De Gea be the hero, was a bullet from Willian though.
