This guy is the best goalkeeper in the world at the moment. I think he´s the best United keeper ever. He´s been saving us so many points now in so many games that we've become spoiled with he' s efforts. He´s the Messi of goalkeepers and he plays for Manchester United and we love him. I hope he stays forever. We love you David de Gea.......plenty. :-)

Obviously before tonight. He's made more errors than incredible saves as of late.
It just gets tiring when posters pretend hes bailing us out every game when he makes the odd wonder save. He's really not.

Feel he could have done better for the second goal. It’s unlike him to get beat at the near post but made up for it with that spectacular Banksesque save later.

Should have put better challenge for their two goals.

Their 2nd goal, he should have rush out or at least get closer to cut the angles of shooting, then again that's not his style.

That aside, after that, he start to play as we expects him to be, made two crucial saves.

Thought it went in and was swearing the feck - then I saw he saved it. One of the best I have ever seen . Better than last Year's Southampton save and the Sunderland game save couple of years ago (was it Giacherreni?)

Unreal !!

I don't think Jose was happy with his kick out to Rashford near the end either. World class save aside DDG didn't have a great game tonight
In the 2nd half he didn't let players make any mistakes. Everytime a mistake like that was made, he made himself heard,

These kind of saves are his bread and butter. I'm not really surprised anymore when makes them. It's worrying for us a team that he keeps pulling off these saves though because ideally we want to limit the chances opponents create but the strength in that right hand.... Jesus

Already posted but its been taken down on streamable because of copyrights

here's a re-up

Just sums up how shit Lindelof is, when even Smalling leaves his player behind to challenge Benteke, without that he would probably produced even better header but hey Dave saves

And as for DDG, I think he shouldn't go to another team because only in our team he can produce such saves, would be toto easy in La liga behind REAL's defense

It's widely agreed that great goalkeepers make mistakes too, but it's how they get up and deal with that mistake.

He did, and managed to make a world class save after that mistake. What a top guy.

Regarding Benteke's header, Lindelof should be doing much better there - Benteke moved just a little , and he was already away from Lindelof, should be marking him much more closely. Also, Townsend crossed the ball far too easily for me. I think this was the cross Jose was talking about in his post match when he mentioned Townsed crossed as though there was nobody to check him.

Lindelof has indeed been disappointing, he had few nervy moments today too, doesnot look like he will make it here. I think Bailly is ready for the start now, would be a massive boost in the defence.

Barring the save against Bentke, he's been pretty average in the last two matches. Should've saved the Willian effort and also should've atleast come forward on the second goal to narrow the angle against PVA. He was stuck on his line and gave PVA all the angles to score the goal.

Maybe I'm spoiled with De Gea save... but I don't think that one was as amazing as his saves this season vs. Stoke, Arsenal and Sevilla... yes it was a little bit behind him, but it was at a good height for him...

Still a good save, but yeah, not up with those other ones.

Beaten at his near post twice in a row.
Kept us in the game though.
Imagine Benteke scored right after the equaliser, I think I'd have died.

There's nothing spoilt about comparing De Gea against... De Gea. It wasn't his best save but it was probably still a Top 15 save from this season, of which he probably holds 11 or 12.

Still amazing.

;) We've all been spoilt with De Gea's collection of routine amazing saves, so obv some amazing saves would be more amazing than the other amazing saves.

To be honest, he has had 2 poor games back to back. But fair play to him, he made up for it with the save(well almost).

For any other keeper it's a great save, for De Gea it's good save. That's the standard he has set for himself.

I don't blame him for the willian one but yeah, gotta do much better for the one last night. Didn't do anything

De Gea is our best player and honestly I've never seen a goalkeeper so influential on results so often. How can a team in second have a keeper who has made the second most saves in league?

That is not just world class goal keeping that is balon dor level consistency and ability. Imagine if we had a keeper like ospina. It's unreal he is one of the best of all time.

Think he has had two poor games honestly but I don't even care. Even if he was not David De Gea and some average keeper I still wouldn't be mad because our defense is crap. No keeper should have to be pulling of saves like that

Reassuring that we have someone that is still winning us matches on his bad days.

Interesting. Nick Pope despite being relatively unknown is having a great season there. Should be in the England's shortlist.

De God on the other hand is on another level above the rest.

"Should've saved it" is a bit of a stretch, it's close and hit extremely hard, pace of the shot meant that De Gea barely managed to react to it.

@MThomas
Admittedly it's a good deflected shot that go to the far corner. Still, for a keeper he have an insane reactions and could've dive and get a touch or something. Instead, he let it be probably thinking it's going out. If I'm not mistaken, he have saved that kind of shot seasons before. Couldn't find the gif/vid of it though. Then again, I have high expectations of De Gea.

There is no way any keeper would have saved that, that ball looped over with good height and IIRC De Gea was about to move to his right side and then had to change to left.

We don't want to turn into the way Liverpool were and glorifying the golden glove. While we were winning titles Reina was winning golden gloves and we mocked them celebrating it.

Imho you've completely lost the plot if you think any goalkeeper could get a touch on that shot..It's close range and it gets a deflection he has to react to, he doesn't see the change of direction until it's too late, the change in direction takes it higher and further away from him...Even if the original shot was as wide as high, and he saw it from it left Townsends foot, it still would've been a very difficult save to make.

All your comparisons are 1) Shots where you see the ball from the moment it leaves the players foot 2) closer to De Gea.
