But on one of the pics I've seen, he doesn't look nearly 20.

His reaction to Silva's goal sums it up, where the feck was the defence?

You almost wish we hadnt scored, the players just seemed to switch off after that... Altho it was probably just them being tired after playing half of the match down to 10

I just hope everyone in the dressing room will pick him up and make him understand that it wasn't his fault today. The guy is only 20 after all so I say let him play the Aldershot game just to get over this

Judging by his reactions, he already knows that most, if not all of the goals weren't his fault.

Here's how it happened:
- was put under no pressure from crosses.
- one decent save with his right leg.
- couldn't do nowt with four of the goals
- could have saved Silva's nutmeg.
- could have and probably should have saved the Dzeko sixth.

otherwise just another keeper in a 6-1 gubbing.

Schmeichel surrended 11 goals in back-to-back matches... and that was with a full side in one match though Keane was sent off early in the second match (down 1-0).

He was at error for both of dzeko goals. The rest no keeper was going to save.

The last couple he would of saved in the right mindset. Sadly, after 4 unanswered, he lost his concentration and will. He's only 20 - playing as a keeper takes years to master.

Hope Fergie rings up VDS to have a word with De Gea and let him know it'll be alright.

Blaming De Gea for a couple of goals  it never ends.

It doesn't matter if he's 20 or 40 ... if your're to be considered top quality a keeper has to do more than what he did for a couple of the goals.

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't be having a go at him in the dressing room as I likely would with a few others. He'd get a zero rating from me - neither better nor worse than was to be expected of his play.

Completely agree.

I feel for him. He'll surely be dropped for Aldershot Town. That will hurt his confidence.

That would be madness - I thought I saw more convincing signs of him being a United player today than any other game actually. We should definitely persevere - last thing we need now is uncertainty about who is our first choice keeper and a period of inconsistency in selection there.

Fergie has to back him IMO.

Not trying to be nitpick here but he should really give an earful to the defenders at times for slacking off. So far, he is being way to nice to the back four.
