This Barclays guy seems really thick. I wonder if he's okay. I know people have big egos and everything but this guy is kinda OTT. If you're wrong on a player, you're wrong. I don't see what's the fuss in trying to hide from that. Looking at all he's said so far, there's definitely something eating away at him. Vendetta against Fergie perhaps?

I think Paddy's holding his own on Twitter, which is surprising.

He tweeted this earlier,

Could be any of several Caftards I can think of. :nervous:

His basic stance to criticism on twitter is "who are you and why should I care?". Terrible attitude for someone who relies on "nobodies" to stay in a job.

The Mail & the Times could do a lot worse than firing MacKenzie and Barclay, and employing Feeky in their stead. And yes, I am serious.

Manchester United

Pepe Reina has given praise to David De Gea after the United signing’s performance against Liverpool on the weekend, with Reina insisting that the youngster is the future of Spanish football.

De Gea has had a shaky start to the season in the Barclays Premier League, and is slowly but surely establishing himself as a successor to Edwin van der Saar.

And after the keeper made multiple saves on Saturday to keep United in the game, Reina couldn’t help but praise his rival.

“He made a couple of fantastic saves – it shows the potential of Spanish goalkeepers and we are very proud there are now two Spanish lads playing for Liverpool and Manchester United,” Reina told the Guardian.

“He will have poor performances, like all of us, but he will have a lot of good ones as well. It is about finding consistency, but he will do that because he is a talent.”

United were able to come back from 1-0 down to draw with Liverpool at the weekend, but De Gea’s biggest test will come this Sunday when the Red Devils face cross-town rivals Manchester City.

Sack Barclay, sign Reina.

Edit: The link at the top there is the source. Didn't know the hyperlink rejigger on here was going to do that.

Thank God I've never had to suffer this Barclay clown's diatribe, I mean how hard is it to do research on a player before you drop an opinion. A simple perusal of Wikipedia tells you that DDG won a Europa league as a starting keeper, played 57 games for them, represented Spain at all age levels except top squad and in that team there's like 4 top class keepers who would rate top 10 in the world. It's not like we bought some obscure keeper from Norway...

Hart is a safer pair of hands but De Gea has ditched his dodgy keeper tag | Daniel Taylor | Football | The Guardian

I've not read the article but considering the stats show DDG has made more saves and a greater percentage, the headline proclaiming Hart as the safer pair of hands is odd to say the least.

So much about needing to have great concentration, so you're able to make that one save a game for United

No dropped catches and fewer goals/games conceded
The pie chart for 'type of save' looks like a donut. Especially De Gea's

The comparison is retarded on so many levels at the moment. Hart has been playing with the same team and the same and settled defense for a while. De Gea has started off in a new league, new team and is behind a back four that changes every game.

Even so, those stats in no way prove that Hart is the 'safer' GK anyway. Rubbish.

Played more minutes, let in the same number of goals, more clean sheets. They interpret it as safer hands but it's more to do with the defense.

That donut makes interesting, if worrying, reading.

It's a well-known fact by now that United have allowed more shots on our goal than almost any other club in the league. There was a theory that this was mainly down to long-range pot shots at a keeper who was feeling the pressure.

Turns out that's not true at all. Oh dear.

Especially given how Hart's been at fault for more goals in recent games than De Gea has.

We have not had a settled defence or midfield. Also we are playing a more expansive and open game.

Hart is a media darling and slightly overrated simply because he is England's only decent keeper.

Conceded quite a few goals in the champions league by parrying the ball to a nearby striker.. not saying its his fault but I guarantee you if De Gea went through a patch like that he'd get criticism for it.
