Before the Bayern game on Bein Sports,Trevor Francis slammed De Gea saying he was "not an outstanding keeper" and insisted that it was a a shame we didn't go for Courtious instead.
Seriously, at what stage do we label him a world class 'keeper? I think he's world class already to be honest.
A twenty-three year old world class 'keeper, he is outstanding. He already is. Regardless of how people define it.

With regards to him going down as our greatest ever 'keeper, I've no doubt he has the talent to do so but unfortunately it is likely he will return to Spain someday, it will be difficult for him to eclipse van der Sar or Schmeichel playing in his prime elsewhere. Still, what a feckin' goalkeeper he is.The only way is up for David. He may very well go down as our greatest ever goalkeeper.
I also think he may prove to be a better keeper than Casillas and Valdes, despite(especially Casillas's) legendary status, due to the vast improvement he's shown since moving to England in terms of physicality and dominating his area, a skill which neither of them possess.
I'm optimistic enough to think he might just stay here his whole career. He seems fairly happy, at least! We should just throw money at him in comically large bags if he ever flirts with Barca/Real.With regards to him going down as our greatest ever 'keeper, I've no doubt he has the talent to do so but unfortunately it is likely he will return to Spain someday, it will be difficult for him to eclipse van der Sar or Schmeichel playing in his prime elsewhere. We should definitely hand him a whopper contract. His girlfriend still lives in Spain apparently, which can't be easy on the lad.I'm optimistic enough to think he might just stay here his whole career. He seems fairly happy, at least! Yeah so was I.I was already there last year, as I'm sure many others were too. It's just a matter of time when the media start doing so too. They just can't seem to shake off his first season performances.
It's not only that he's one of the best around at the moment, he's an exceptional keeper full stop. He's world class because I don't believe there's anyone better than him currently in the world. The best in his position surely defines world class. Maybe Courtois is on a par but I have obviously seen more De Gea matches.
Have you taken a look at her? She's a 'singer'. Get Dave to bring her over and put her on the X Factor panel or something. I know she can barely speak English nor can she actually sing but it worked for Cheryl. We should definitely hand him a whopper contract. I still reckon Del Bosque will opt for Lopez, I'd love to be wrong though. It'd be a great experience for de Gea, and well deserved.Vicente Del Bosque has hinted that Manchester United‘s David de Gea will be called up to the Spain squad for the World Cup this summer to replace the injured Victor Valdes.
The two main contenders to take up Valdes’ spot in the squad are De Gea and Real Madrid’s Diego Lopez and Del Bosque admitted that he already had a goalkeeper in mind to take the spot but wanted to wait before revealing who it was.
“Yes, I do have somebody in mind – a third goalkeeper but I would prefer not to say too much at the moment because if somebody gets injured, we’ll have to start the process all over again,” he told AS.
“The logical thing to do is to comply with the timeline we have been given, we have seven weeks to finalise the list but it’s too soon to disclose anything – anything could happen between now and May.”
When asked whether De Gea was a goalkeeper who he had in mind, Del Bosque said: “Of course we have him in mind; he is one of the potential candidates to be called. He has been with us several times already.”
After the season De Gea has had, he deserves a spot on that plane. Admittedly, I haven’t seen how good or bad Lopez has played for Real Madrid but De Gea has been by far and away Manchester United‘s player of the season so far, so is rightly in the mix to replace Valdes.
Even if De Gea was chosen, he’d still be third choice behind Iker Casillas and Pepe Reina but simply being part of the squad will be the next big step for De Gea, so the sooner it happens the better.
I think we need to enjoy him while he is here because at some point he will want to move home. From what i have read it hasnt been easy for him and I doubt we will have him for his entire career, I think he will want to move back to Spain in the next 3 or 4 years.I'm optimistic enough to think he might just stay here his whole career. My favourite player. Is world class already for me and definitely in the top two or three for the best in the world. Hope he gets to go to Brazil, he deserves it. I hope the report about the contract is true too. Needs to be signed up ASAP. A brilliant signing by SAF.

I said it hasnt been easy for him and there are numerous articles regarding his girlfriend living in Spain, his difficulties with diet and training, his frequent trips home on days off etc. He is probably very happy right now but I think he will want to head home at some point. He is living in a completely different culture to what he grew up in and at his age its not easy. As he gets closer to being the best keeper in the world the 2 big Spanish clubs will come calling and the pull of home will kick in even more. I would expect that to be when he gets to the point of wanting to start a family etc. Being home sick hits at different points in your life for different reasons. Been there done that.Where have you read that he is still struggling to adapt? From whatever I have read, he seems happy as a bunny here now.

I hope Im wrong, I would love for him to stay with us his entire career and become our greatest ever keeper, I think he is already brilliant. Of course im basing my opinion partly on my own experiences and Spain is much closer to Manchester than Auckland NZ is to Scotland...I know. I am currently in a similar situation and would run back home if given half an opportunity. But I hope to God you are wrong in this case!

With Ter Stegen moving to Barca, they wont be needing a GK for a while. Real would need a GK soon but with his Atletico roots, he wouldnt want to move there?
Yeah Varun. You are the man. Fill us all with this undiluted optimism!
We just need to get his gf issues sorted, that's it
Yeah Varun, give up yours for Big Dave!
He can go feck himself
