Pogue Mahone
Closet Gooner.
Why isn't Cech getting a mention as one of the best keepers in the league? Been way better than Hart this season.
You say that, but he was bizarrely robbed of it in 2011/12 because people were still pissed off with him. I think there's enough lingering animosity there to stop him being a shoo-in.
was thinking this the other dayWell if Moyes and the other coaches have to take the blame for the outfield players being rubbish, I think we have to say Chris Woods has done a really good job with DDG. He's never looked this confident in his box, which is impressive given the shite his defenders have left him to deal with this season.
Wouldn't be a bad idea. He's led by example this season.I really really think he should be our next captain...
De Gea is world class
Robin van Persie's goals may have grabbed the headlines in Wednesday's Champions League victory over Olympiacos, but Phil Jones believes the label of match-winner should go to David De Gea.
Sandwiched between two of van Persie's three goals was an incredible double save from United's no.1. After blocking David Fuster's powerful header, De Gea recovered immediately and, at full-stretch, prevented Alejandro Dominguez's follow-up shot creeping inside the post.
Jones praised van Persie and De Gea after the 3-2 aggregate win that booked United's spot in the quarter-finals, but reserved special words for the man between the posts.
"He's world-class," Jones told ManUtd.com and BBC Radio. "He's up there with the best goalkeepers in the world. He can produce saves like that at critical moments in a match even when he's not really had much to do. He's alive to everything and won us the game."
De Gea was named Man of the Match by fans on United's official Twitter feed and was delighted with his performance and thankful for the support of the fans both at Old Trafford and beyond.
"The atmosphere inside the stadium was very impressive. It was a very important win for us that will boost our confidence," he told us. "I was very pleased with all the saves and happy I was able to help the team. I'd like to thank the fans for their support and for always being there. They are amazing."
That one is unreal, I already remember moaning cos I thought it was a dead cert for a Suarez goal. Incredible save. The Liverpool one is absurd, closer than a penalty and Suarez absolutely leathers it.
Same, if it had gone in everyone would have said he had no chance anyway. He's going to have some highlight reel by the time he retires. Hopefully after about 1000 appearances for usThat one is unreal, I already remember moaning cos I thought it was a dead cert for a Suarez goal. Incredible save.
Can't even begin to imagine. His highlight reels season by season are already better than many keepers have in their entire career.Same, if it had gone in everyone would have said he had no chance anyway. That 'article' is horrible. The author should be ashamed to have written that about a young player. More downright insulting than analytical or constructively critical.http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/265100/New-boy-David-De-Gea-will-keep-making-mistakes
"He’s called David de Gea Quintana. But don’t bother learning all those names. There will be another chap along soon. There has to be."
Still a classic, almost up there with "you can't win anything with kids"
For me, his best save was definately the Mata freekick last season. That save took the absolute piss, he had no right keeping that out.His best save ever is still the one from Coentrao in the Bernabeu IMO. Such fine margins there - all in the footwork, anticipation and reflexes.

i don't know why that dzeko save didn't get any praise from neville.. it was really excellent.

I feel so sorry for him at moment. He always looks so disgusted at what's going on in front of him and rightly so.
His kicking was a bit poor tonight but we need to be thankful for him as this season could be ever worse. Imagine if he was performing to a shadow of his ability like the others are. I'm not convinced he's going to sign that new deal. You couldn't blame him for leaving if Real or Barca came for him.
It is weird how De Gea manages to go through the same training sessions, weekly routine, pre-match warmup and team talk from Moyes and his staff as everyone else in the playing squad does, yet doesn't turn out tumescent performances like he can't be arsed.
Unless the two of them live in a bubble together between matchdays, DDG will have the same interaction with Moyes and his team as the rest of the players, yet he's consistently putting in performances. It is almost as if he has professional pride.By all accounts Chris Woods is very talented. A keeper, perhaps. Not indicative of the rest of the management, though.

It's very surprising because it seems that many posters have watched no Spanish football at all in the past two seasons if they are doubting de Gea's quality. He is a superb young goalkeeper, and it may take some time, but he will adapt, I promise.
With confidence and more time to settle, he will be the best. He has all the attributes required.
He and Rooney are far too good for this football club. I hope they'll leave if the club persists with Moyes.
Spain's best goalkeeper by 1,000,000,000,000 miles.
