I'll put Vidic, Evra, and Carrick ahead, in terms of their impact and longevity.
Longevity yes, because De Gea is here only in the last three years. I think that he'll stay here long enough though, which would justify my praise.

I don't believe that there is anything true in rumours about Begovic. I don't know why the media have been insisting with it for quite a long time, when there is every possibility that we were never interested on him, and I am almost sure that we aren't interested now when De Gea has become one of the best keepers in the world and the best in England.

Important Update

Further to the megathreads announcement, this megathread has been renamed and should be confined to discussing David de Gea's performances this season. For any other discussions about David de Gea, please bump or create separate threads.

Thanks!

I will be highly surprised and my respect for him as a man will rise to the skies if he doesn't seek to sign for another club. It must be a torture being a goalie for these clowns.

That save from the Suarez shot was out of this world, incredible reaction save.

He and Rooney are far too good for this football club. I hope they'll leave if the club persists with Moyes.

Spain's best goalkeeper by 1,000,000,000,000 miles.

Brilliant save, he has been fantastic all season. Really hope he gets a new contract before the summer.

His reflexes are simply insane, and I'll never get sick of saying that.

I'd strongly consider giving him the captaincy as an alternative to Rooney, as wacky as that probably is. But he leads by example.

Just about the only positive from the match was DDG's save. That was a world class save if ever i saw one. Schmeichel talked about the Southampton save as the save of the season - this one isn't far behind, is it?

I actually agree with this. I also think that he's showing more and more leadership skills on the pitch. Furthermore, since there are almost more Spanish players in the league, his "puta" will probably be much eloquent and sweet than Rooney's.

It's right up there. My favourite save from Dave is still probably that Torres header he managed to claw out for a corner. Mental save.

Had to look it up on Youtube, but yeah, that's brilliant. He's a truly world class player and has been for some time now. He should be first choice for Spain. What bugs me is how good his distribution is, but how poor our players are at finding positions for him to find them. That's something Moyes must address. We waste too much possession because DDG has to play the role of ball hoofing Kuszczak back there.

I still feel the commentators don't give him enough credit for those type of saves. It was truly outrageous: you can't even say it was aimed straight at him, but hit at full power from such a close range to his side. He would be a phenomenal loss if we ever sold him.

Favourite to win our player of the season award I'd say. Not a highly competitive field to choose from, but still, he deserves recognition.

No doubt in my mind, it's between him and Neuer as the best goalkeepers in the world. So consistent too. Only mistake in the last year and a half was the Sunderland goal.
Thankfully he plays in one position that Moyes' tactics can't mess up.

Honestly it's so true. He's been our best player because Moyes cannot affect what he does. He's the keeper, you can't really feck that up.

Ridiculous save.

Easily the best keeper in the league. Has to be a contender of being the best in the world as well. Neuer is the clear standout right now. Courtois will up there as well but DDG has to be in top 5 right now if not behind Neuer himself

Agreed - he deserves much better and I'd be surprised if he weren't heavily linked to the next major goalkeeping vacancy.

Incredible save. "Spanish cat" Saved us from further embarrassment. Let down by a lethargic d-line on Suarez's goal.

One cracking save against liverpool, and basically no chance with the goals we actually conceded. I can’t really remember him having to do too much other than that in truth.
