The other good news is they apparently Barcelona want ter Stegen the young German goalkeeper to replace valdes - leave our David alone :D

I'd rather he skied it the way he did than concede a corner.

Dont want to sound like I'm criticising him, but no, not really. It could've went anywhere, and iirc, didn't even make it outside the box.

It looked easier to save with his hands given its height! It was unconventional but likely instinctive! It worked and that's all that matters.

It looks easier but when you are there its probably easier to use your feet. Its like some of his shots earlier this season when they were low and he saved with his feet and the commentators were getting up in arms about it. Who gives a shit, a save is a save. Its like when a forward shins it or scores with his bollocks, who cares?

Looks like he's anticipating it going across him, but bad contact sends it near post.
Instant adjustment.

Yeah I think it might have actually been a double contact by Coentrao with the initial contact sending it across goal but kicking it into his other leg which sent it near-post.

He was annoyingly good for you guys tonight. I usually want to see him perform well, being a Spaniard and all, but I wouldn't have mind for him to drop a few clangers earlier.

Kietotheworld would still blame him for the goal.

I'm not sure why people think the save with his feet was so weird, I thought he was clearly anticipating the ball to go low at the near post but it was hit into the ground bouncing up and forced him to adjust, if he was then positioned to use his hands he would have. Fantastic reaction save IMO.

I fecken love this kid!!!

really good game from him today. Made plenty of saves and was kept busy. I was slightly worried that the occasion was getting to him when he came poorly for two corners, but he settled and dealt very well with everything thrown at him. Can't fault him for the goal as it was a very good header.

Loved the weird kick save with his leg. Looks highly awkward and left me trying to work out exactly what had just happened for a few seconds. But in the end it was a good save if a little unconventional. Hope we see a similar performance from him in the second leg.

Yeah, my bad, currently.

Ah no worries then that's not as bad. Still got a bit to go until I'll call him the best shot stopper out there but considering it's the strongest aspect of his game he's certainly up there at the moment after his performance tonight.

He's certainly the most entertaining 'keeper to watch anyway. What was going through his head for the karate kick? Just brilliance! He kept it out, that's all that matters.

Thing is, I remember when he signed they were saying on Sky that in Spain they say he has milk for blood, he's that calm. He's a feckin' looper!

I just love how Eric Steele comes on the pitch at the end of every game, and meets De Gea to give him a tap on the back/high five, and then walk off together.

Seem to have a good relationship going between them.

Wouldn't swap De Gea for anyone out there at the moment - he has the potential to be a great.

I vividly remember Schmeichel was using his feet to save shot a lot.

And to think just over a year ago people were trying to beat him with lame shots from the centre circle:lol:

Fergie was going on about how you sometimes need to rotate young players even when you know they got what it takes. I don't know but who is to say he didn't play that wonderfully, leaving him out of the spot light at times.
