It was a bad error. But he has a great calander year with us. Its his 1st big clanger.

Lets hope it does not knock his form

But this whole worry that the media will jump all over this is annoying. He plays for one of the biggest clubs in the world and he is one of the most expensive keepers ever.
He will always get more attention because of that. Get over it.

He managed to come through all the flak that was sent his way this time last year so I don't think some crummy headlines in the Sunday chip-wrappers will bother him any more.

That's the life of a keeper though, to be fair. I think in that situation, where Vidic can't win the ball cleanly, it's up to the keeper to come out and take control of the situation. All Vidic could do was put pressure on the attacker and hope De Gea deals with it or the pressure puts him off. De Gea was the one to blame in my opinion, although my opinion on that might change once I see the incident on a non-grainy, non-dutch clip.

He's definitely going in the right direction though.

A lot of his saves, dare I say, wouldn't be made by VDS.

Of course, the mistakes probably wouldn't either, but he's definitely one of the best shot stoppers in the world by a stretch. Maybe top 2-3 shot stoppers in the world already.

First real mistake in 2012 too.

I hope Fergie doesn't start rotating the keepers again this season. Unless he goes into a real slump DDG should be first choice. He's got massive potential, which will only be realised with games.

Fantastic today. So many reaction saves. I don't entirely blame De Gea for Fulham's second, Vidic didn't communicate well. What I do know however is that had it not been for De Gea there were a number of shots from Fulham today that might've ended up in the back of the net.

Don't know why he went to the right of Petric instead of jumping with him. I think he and Vidic aren't quite on each others wavelength just yet, a factor compounded by the defensive injuries.

If he repeats some of the errors of last season when it comes to commanding his area then i think it should be considered. Although i suspect and understandably so really, that any change of that drastic nature would be left until after the defence has become more settled. Vidic with so few games over the last year and our injuries have to be seen as a mitigating factor.

Despite his error, he kept us in the game at times and if it wasn't for him we wouldn't have walked away with 3 points.

Tony Gale loves him in a "I can talk bollocks about him every single time he plays" way.

I loved the bit at the end where he was about to say "great save" but only managed "great" as he realised who he was talking about. He then said the keeper could have been at fault for another goal...

Yeah Tony because when the balls coming in at that height and the attackers running accross its so easy for keepers!

Pretty shocking stuff for the second goal, to be fair. Also should have done better for the chance when Evra got kicked in the face, he just scooped it back to Petric who should have scored.

Still, I have more confidence of him when there are strikes coming from outside the box than I ever did with VDS, so that's something.

He really needs to learn how to clatter into players.

To be fair that was a freak goal. It came of the back of vidas heel. You probably couldn't pull it off in a hundred tries.

I still think de gea did brilliantly and made some excellent reflex saves that really should have been fulham goals. Including the one right at the end.

Nobody needs convincing of his reactions. It's the uncertainty on crosses that has to be eliminated. Today was a setback, no more.

I love De Gea, but eliminate that uncertainty at crosses and he's in the top 5 keepers in the world, if not higher.

Agreed, my only worry is that it's been a whole year now. whatever it is the coaches should be teaching him, they've had 12 months to work at it. The jump he did today was just terrible. Uncommitted, out of the way of the attacker and only through one hand at it.

They should make him do that Japanese game show where you have to run at one of a couple doors, and 1 is false and you'll go through, the others are solid. ;)

That was absolutely wank defending from Vidic. Not too bothered about it hitting his heel, as the Fulham player behind him hat a tap-in regardless. What the feck was he thinking though?

He's maybe a couple of months from being really match fit. Even if we get one of our 4 injured centre backs back we will be weak as hell in the middle of the defence for a long time.

De Gea could have bottled it at the end, but he made some crucial saves and was great overall, his double save at the end of the first half was a fecking miracle. Awesome GK.

I am I the only one who thought he was slightly fouled on that play? The Fulham player does little to play the ball and clearly knocks DDG out of the way.

This is the type of foul that would be called in laLiga

That was my reaction from behind the goal too, expected the ref to blow for a foul.

No white text?

To be fair, a "defense" of 1 CB returning to fitness, 1 CM, and two full backs who attack a lot more than they defend is a bit of a problem. That will be rectified with time though. We just need our players back.

Personally i dont really now what happened to vidic there, if you watch him, he almost jumps and then falls over? i dont know if he completely misjudges the cross but if he doesn't jump forward there would be no risk of him kicking it in with his heel.

I thought at first he was pushed by the striker, but its just an odd goal all round.

Anyway all that matters is the 3 points. DDG saved us at the end with the ruiz header, he more than made up for that goal throughout the game.

Neither of them exactly showered themselves in glory, Vidic looked like he had lead in his boots jumping for it.

Hopefully its just a bit of rustiness, he was out for a fair while.

Looking at their 2nd goal and I think it could have been a foul on De Gea. The Fulham striker looks at De Gea as the cross comes in and jumps into him. Any other GK and that probably would be a foul.

We need to make him into a brick shithouse. When that happens, hopefully, we'll have the best keeper on the planet. His shot stopping is amazing.

He just needs to be less polite when it comes to that. Even Jones said to him at the Hawthornes last year, "lead with your elbows"

English football. Still De Gea should've clattered him imo.

English football? Every time United had a corner the ref went over before it was taken and spoke to Kagawa/Welbeck for breathing on Schwarzer.
