Outstanding tonight looks to be really growing into the role now.

Where are all the people who were saying he'd never be good enough now?

Quite possibly our best player over the last month. He's been sensational, and tonight was no different!

Brilliant again. The defence really let him down at times though.

Superb. Nothing more to say than that.

Jones is a liability anywhere down the middle.

I like him at centre mid because he's a proper box to box player there, but he's a liability at centre back for the moment. He'll improve, but his positional game is awful.

He has been amazing recently, will be a top, top keeper for us. I wasn't convinced a couple of months back...
I still maintain his distribution is over-rated, hit another one straight into touch, but I suspect those who have always backed him aren't banging on about that aspect so much anymore...

Couldn't ask more of him really. He was almost exceptional out there. Sometimes it looked like he was our only line of defence such was the number of times the opposition had clear chances on goal.

He will earn us results with those performances.

He was our whole defence for the most part of the match, completely let down by teammates infront of him.

Nah. This won't matter. He'll find away to blame it on him.

Let me see...

Should have saved the first... obviously, it went in near(ish) him... doesn't matter that it was low, powerful or at point blank range. Poor.

The 2nd... well he didn't even dive! How does he plan on saving it if he doesn't dive?? Shoddy.

As for the 3rd... WELL, he should be holding that. If you get a hand to it you should hold on to it. At all times. Weak.

As for the saves, well they were routine saves that any professional goalkeeper would make. I thought the one from Llorente was excellent at first, but on seeing a replay, I'm downgrading it to snooze.

Sound about right?

Despite all the shit written and said about him all barring one or two mistakes he's been superb all season. He's gained us points or got us through several times with his displays this season. The game at Klanfield he earnt us a point and against the rent boys with that remarkable save from Mata's free-kick plus helped us get past Ajax and gave us hope for the away tie with Bilbao because if it weren't for him tonight this tie would be all but over.

I also liked the fact he let his feelings be known tonight by venting his frustrations at out sloppy defence.

Definitely growing in stature and confidence.

Yea. Except for the saves you forgot to add that he only saved them because he was already on the move and positioned correctly in order to save them which makes them easy. Nothing special.

Translation:He runs around a lot and most of the time pointlessly.Against technical and intelligent players, he's just not good enough or mature enough to play there.

Don't forget the poor kick which went out of play, which cost you guys the game.

Fixed.

fecking outstanding tonight, genuinely looked a world class goalkeeper. Got to feel sorry for him, he's come to the club and he's having to save us game after game.

Ignoring the Carling Cup ties we've kept only 15 clean sheets this season and De Gea has only been in goal for 9 of them. 9 clean sheets is all the lad has had this season, he must be thinking that this isn't what he signed up for!!

I mentioned before that the strength part of his game was being underplayed. You need a great deal of core strength to make some of those saves especially to reach the top corner whilst diving.

Ther anguish on the attackers face when he pulled off the saves said it all - they expected a goal but DDG pulled off a blinder.

Great saves I think. His kicking was uncharacteristically off - kept going out of play on the right!

So much for all the "he'll have to cope with not having to do anything for the entire game and be prepared for that one save" before we signed him

There's been ludicrous levels of pressure on De Gea recently, but he's come out of it looking absolutely brilliant. Full credit to his level of mental strength, not to mention his ability.

You could have a save of the season video compiled solely from De Gea's saves in his last few games.

The kid is going to be world number 1. I've always had faith in his ability to shine through.

What was very pleasing tonight, again, was him barking orders - sometimes quite angrily - to the defence. Jones in particular got a few choice words.

Phenomenal shot stopper.

Ahhh ... there might just be some light at the end of this tunnel.

Just tuned in ... hopefully it'll be shown later ... sounds like a terrific game, and that DdG was equally jizzworthy.

Anyway, sometimes, work kids etc get in the way of watching every game.:smirk:

That sucks though. Real life should stay away from football.

How many top draw saves?

1) One handed save to his right - shot from outside the box.
2) One on one with Munian
3) The phenomenal save from Llroriente shot
4) The save right at the end before the third goal.

any more?

Someone on twitter was saying that DDG made a mistake by rolling on his back after the save. That meant that he had to run a longer distance to reach the ball than he would've had to if he had just gotten up after making the save.
