My...Aren't we the amusing one.

Delighted to be of service, pillock.

Here's hoping he does the biz this Sunday.

And that you are watching.

The kid is better than decent.

Since Stepney, Schmikes and V.D.S have been amazing.

Timmy, if he hadn't had a wee momentary blip against Porto, might have made it.

But we have had some absolute garbage too.

Carroll ?
That Italian twerp?
Our very own Ben Foster gifting Tevez a goal in the derby?

Et j'en passe ...

So give him credit when it is due.
Granted, you say you didn't see Norwich away - believe me. He, Rio and Jonny Evans gave us a toe-hold on a title.

Not like it's his first time saving our sorry asses.

Watch the links above.

Sorry, mate, but griping for griping's sake ...

We would be 4 points behind Citeh if it wasn't for DDG, based on nothing but last Sunday morning.

Congrats to the only multiple player-of-the-month winner on our team this season. He's been fantastic.

He made a couple of outstanding saves against Arsenal in the 8-2 thrashing. The penalty save, the double save and one save where I think RvP beat the offside trap for a volley but was denied by David's outstanding reflexes.

De Gea taking tips from Friedel

Manchester United's David de Gea says he has been taking inspiration from Tottenham's Brad Friedel to help him get to grips with life as a Premier League keeper.

The 21-year-old, who has struggled at times this season after his summer move from Atletico Madrid, was man of the match in United's 2-1 win at Norwich last week and is confident he is now finding his form.

And De Gea, who will line-up against Friedel as Spurs and United clash at White Hart Lane on Sunday, says watching a man 19 years his senior has been a great help.

"I always valued his work and had heard good things about his performances in the Premier League and with the American team," De Gea told The Sun.

"I've watched him on video because it is interesting to compare yourself to other keepers.

"He is excellent in one-on-one situations and also when faced with free-kicks. Watching him makes me want to play for United when I'm 40!

"That's not easy and Friedel deserves great credit still to be playing. Keepers improve as the years go by but, at the moment, I'm still a baby."

De Gea has also been quick to pay tribute to the Manchester United coaching staff for his recent turnaround in fortune and, in particular, his manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

"I know I failed in some matches, but that has helped me learn - and the key was the manager's support.

"I am working on my athletic ability every day to improve my agility and jumping. English football is very hard for keepers and I need to be the boss of my own area.

"To order men like Patrice Evra, Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic around is not easy for a rookie like me.

"But they are very professional and tell me the goalkeeper is the owner of the area and accept what I say."

He added: "Sir Alex is a big influence. He has helped me cope with the pressure. I am not surprised by the pressure and I try and turn this into a positive."

Good attitude from him. Love the part where he said he'd like to be playing till he's 40 for us.

Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel has hit out at the "terrible" treatment of David de Gea and believes the Spanish goalkeeper will become the club’s No.1 for the next 20 years
Schmeichel, who spent eight years at Old Trafford, says he felt for De Gea during his difficult first few months in England but has praised the youngster’s character in proving his ability.

"The media decided before he even played his first game that they were going to absolutely hammer him," Schmeichel told Goal.com at Carlsberg’s headquarters in Copenhagen at an event to mark 100 days until the start of Euro 2012. "That was a way of having a dig at Sir Alex.

"I thought it was terrible. To be 20 years of age in a different country, not even speaking the language and playing for the biggest club in the world, and to be singled out in that way.

"It’s not what England is all about, it’s not what I had experienced with England. I felt really sorry for him because England for me is all about fair play. English people are the nicest you can ever meet and I just didn’t recognise English people treating someone like him in that way.

"Any beginning is difficult but when you’re opening the newspaper every day and it’s all about how bad you are, sometimes even you begin to believe that.

"It takes enormous character and enormous mental strength to work your way through that - but he’s done that. He’s convinced people that he is a good goalkeeper.

"When Anders [Lindegaard] comes back from injury, it’s going to be interesting to see what Fergie does then. I’m pretty sure that nothing has changed in his mind, that De Gea has been brought in to be No.1 now, next year and the next 20.

"I have no idea if anything has changed but that was the idea in the summer. If you look at De Gea’s performances in the last month, I think he will be really happy with what he’s seen."

It's nice to know that he still watches United games.

De Gea could learn from keepers like Peter and VDS. They were unbelievable on their day but what made them great was that thy recovered from spells of real bad form. They seemed to thrive under the pressure and scrutiny of being United's keeper.

It's a whole different world when you are called upon once or twice a game and any mistake is almost completely unacceptable

Fans, the media and ex-players are all prone to 'jumping on the bandwagon', whether it's "Redknapp for England", "only foreigners dive" or that waving an imaginary card is the worst offense possible comitted on a football pitch .....basically every Jamie Redknapp opinion - ever!

A lot of 'experts' have labelled DDG 'dodgy' far too quicky and (IMO) without giving him a chance - far too many pundits jumping on every minor error and blaming him for everything - I see it as the 'blind following the blind' and no real reasoned views - just repeats of the same old bandwagoners, who can't have possibly watched him all season.

On Twitter, the vast majority of journos have been quick to post any minor error - "dodgy keeper" was written by one journalist (i forget who) for a punch (albeit a poor one) against Chelsea but absolutely no mention by the same journalist of his brilliant save - I find it hard to justify that all.

I also downloaded a lot of podcasts this week expecting some 'humble pie' after Sunday's performance but alas, it was mentioned briefly, if at all.

Maybe I'm reading too much into it but I don't think I've ever wanted a player to succeed as much, to stick it in 'their' faces!

Nice quotes from this

De Gea said: "It’s great news and it’s special to know it’s our own fans who have voted – it shows there’s a nice understanding and feeling between me and them.

"It’s proof that I’m doing something right and it's fantastic that the fans have recognised this."

I really like his attitude. He's confident enough, yet not cocky, is down to earth and apparently feeling very proud to be playing for us. Character like this will put him in good stead with the fans and is potential of being our Number 1 for a long time.... hopefully. Good lad.

Um, is this the same Schmeichel that came out and hammered Lindegaard before he'd even played for us, saying he's not good enough to be #1?

Excellent performance again. That save from Livermore was sensational.

Well played today, pity about conceding late on but he done everything well today with a few top saves.

Another good performance from him today. Would've been nice to see him keep a clean sheet for his efforts, but he'll be happy with his performance anyway.

Was excellent today. As he has been since the Chelsea game. He is beginning to make me less worried every game now.

Lindegaards injury was a blessing in disguise, as bad as that sounds...it is true

Couple of very good saves, especially the one from the deflected shot. He looks very confident right now and continues to impress.

Could have done better for the goal but overall it was a really impressive performance.

Not a thing he could have done about the goal, Rio was between him and the ball and it happened so quickly from Giggsy's poor pass back.
