*mousey voice* Well it did swerve at the very last moment...

There was a little swerve on it, certainly. But I think it was pretty central, and while not exactly a routine save, it was one that a decent keeper should make.

Still a good save at an important time in the game. 2 good games against 2 of our biggest rivals in successive weeks can only do wonders for his confidence.

Had a decent game today, fair play to the guy, hope it continues.

De Gea makes a bit of a mistake, let's a goal in. Redcafe "stupid wanker should have saved that, get Lindegaard in. He's too young, too small, too weak, too Spanish. Needs to bulk up. That's not how we do things in England."

De Gea has quiet game, makes decent save late on, United win. Redcafe "meh, your granny could have saved that."

To be fair, it was a good save, but a save you'd expect any keeper to make none-the-less. I was more impressed with his distribution and all round demeanor, as he looked a lot more confident, and not as bothered as in previous games where players had been crowding him at corners.

Also, over praising that last save would be doing a disservice to last weeks wonder save... which actually was a point saving moment, and a save that you wouldn't neccaserily expect your keeper to make, or a save that other keepers would even have been able to make.

Considering how ridiculously young he is, and how much more assured he's looked in the past few matches, with the last two being as high profile as they come, more or less, I'm ready to bury any skepticism I might have had... Lad's going to be one of the best, provided he keeps his head down and his confidence up.

I don't think his save today should be over praised, it's morons like Pondlife here, jumping to say it was just an easy save I was getting at. Quick to slate for each and every little mistake, irrespective of the outcome, and equally quick to rule anything decent the guy does as simple, easy and meaningless. Some of our fans are pathetic when it comes to giving young players, new to the club and league, a chance.

You need to get real ... he's decent but stop coming over the lad. Not his fault United paid 18 mill. Suggests he's a God ... obviously not. What do you expect. No moron ... just calling it as it is.

He's playing for Manchester United for fecks sakes.

Correct, he is, so fecking support him instead of continually going on about how shit his mistakes are and how easy the things he does well are to do, since anyone could do them.

You're the kind of person you just know would like to see De Gea fail miserably so you can say you're right.

And when exactly did I "come" over the lad? By saying he made a decent save? I really blew me load there didn't I?

If you don't like being called a moron stop posting like one.

I'm a realist ... if you don't like it, suck on it.

Suck on what?

Realist, or moaning whingebag with an agenda? Out of your last 70 or so posts on here, going back around two weeks, roughly 3/4 (probably more) have been in this thread, telling us all why De Gea is shite. Sterling effort.

He had one of his easiest games in his United-career yesterday - but the little he had to do, he did good. His distribution for instance - was very good

No agenda ... just don't rate him just now. Plain & simple. Ignore me now. Ignore me later when I've been proved wrong. Fine. I just don't see the hype. Sorry.

Being half decent and playing for one of the most dominant teams in the world .. not really a risky bet is it.

Somebody has to be the bad guy ... it'd be boring otherwise. Non ?

You don't see the hype? I would argue if he sorts out his aerial abilities he'd be one of the top 5 goalkeepers in the world, not to mention playing for Manchester fecking United. Pretty fecking staggering considering he is 21, an age in which Schmeichel and Van der Sar, two of our greatest ever keepers were absolute nobodies, starting their career or playing amateurly.

I've no idea what you're talking about. Do you?

I was referring to the childish "suck on it" nonsense anyway.

I thought he looked confident today, that wonder save last week when he looked a little nervy has hopefully lifted him and he'll push on from here.

Dalglish is right ... SKY rules the world.

I think we need to look at this from the point of view that the guy is a kid in goalkeeping terms. He is basically about 8 or 9 years from his peak as a keeper, as I believe that just before 30 is where experience and physicality are top on it. He is by no means the finished article, but has potential in huge amounts and has within him the ability to be one our greatest keepers ever,. high praise and pressure when you conscider Shmeichs and VDS.

I do remember when Casillas broke into the Madrid team, I thought the same thing, fantastic shotstopper, not very commanding of his box. This has changed over the years, as it always does with keepers. Your descision making becomes better. Your communication, and this is vital in a defence, becomes better as you learn to organise the backline better.

Yes, he has made mistakes, but remember, there is no where to hide as a keeper, you make a mistake it is a goal, end of and every keeper makes mistakes no matter how good, so some of our critisism of him, and to be honest some of the other playerws we have on our books, has been a bit over the top. I think, as a young guy, in a new country, a new league, with somewhere in the region of 18 different centre back pairings in front of him, he has done alright.

Easy there Razor Ramone

I'm starting to think that he's the right guy for us... god how i'd love to see him make no mistake again.

He will obviously make mistakes, most keepers do (see Cech, Reina etc) but as long as they are kept to a minimum and he keeps winning us points with saves like the last 2 weeks, we should be delighted!

Do you agree with Ferguson that he had a 'nightmare' against Liverpool at Anfield?

If we were still in the Champion's League, do you think De Gea is ready to play in, say, the semi final of the European Cup?

Part of a learning process.

Already played in big finals.

Sir Alex blamed the centrehalves vs Liverpool at Anfield, didn't he?

Well, Fabio has played 20 league games and 14 CL games. One of them was a CL semi final and one was the CL final.

Why would he have said that about DDG? Nothing wrong with both his Liverpool games. All four goals we've conceded this season against Liverpool have been because of poor defensive work. 3 of them set pieces.
