Is there any keeper who's not injured according to you???

Christ mate, they're either injured or have become number 2's at their respective clubs (which weakens your argument further), someone hasn't been paying attention to the teamsheets in recent weeks.

Indeed, Stockdale and Bogdan are the current incumbents of the number 1 jerseys at Fulham and Bolton respectively, so either Schwarzer and Jaaskelianen (I'm not even trying to spell that right) are injured, or aren't good enough to be first choice.

Brilliant.

No.. I'm with him. I see how he got there..

Sorry All 3 United. Hope you can handle this from here.

Thanks for your support Successful. But obviously signing a keeper for £18m who can't make our first 11 was an extremely astute move for the immediate requirement for a keeper!! Out of curiosity where does £18m sit in the most expensive keeper league?

Except he has made our first 11. On many occasions.

To be fair, he has been thrown in at the deep end. But I thought he would have coped a lot better than he has. He always looked so assured to me.

His confidense surely has been knocked and in a perfect world we could have kept VDS for one more season with DDG as his understudy. Its a shame really

We could have done a lot worse with Friedel as a one year stop gap IMO

I thought Van Der Sar was immense in his final season. 40 Years old? Looked more like 30. He could have easily continued for at least 2 seasons.

If De Gea doesn't get a game in one of the next 2 games I'm going to be even more worried about him than I am now, I'd like him to get a game in the cup tie given as it's generally cup ties where normal teams rotate their keepers but I can see Fergie sticking with Lindegaard for that one and maybe bringing De Gea in for the Stoke game the following Tuesday.

Like I said though if both games go by and Lindegaard plays in both then I don't have a clue what's going on with him

Yes that was until he made mistake after mistake. Look I am not on here to slate DDG, as I believe he has all the attributes to become a great keeper. But the fact is he is not ready for the PL and we were once again raped on the transfer fee.

Stop talking shit.

and we were once again raped on the transfer fee.

Not at all, he'll be a much better player in his position than say, Jordan Henderson. We paid for potential and I have little doubt that he'll be worth more than that in just a few years.

That really isn't the definition of being "raped".

You're not making any sense. If he becomes the great keeper that you believe he can become, then that transfer fee will be a bargain.

Yes ok Lance, we got an absoloute bargain!!

He's 21 years old. You've already admitted he has all the attributes to be a great goalkeeper. Assuming he doesn't demand a transfer at some point, we could be looking at having a top goalkeeper for 15 years or so. That doesn't sound like too bad of a deal to me.

Not every transfer needs to have instant results, and buying De Gea now was probably made easier for Sir Alex knowing he had another dependable keeper in the squad already in case DDG did take some time to adapt. I'm not sure why you're making such a big deal about it.

I have never said he may not prove to be a great keeper but for our current number 1, which is what is needed right now the fee and decision to buy him has been a poor one.

Ronaldo wasn't what "we needed" right after selling Beckham either (Nedved would've been better at that point), stop being so short sighted.

And you've backtracked a little now, how can we be "raped" on a transfer fee if the guy goes on to be worth more?

As I have said above, it's the current situation that concerns me. Why am I making such a big deal about it, because the 3rd most expensive keeper in history is nothing like ready for the PL. We got raped on the fee because we were exposed for having no other options. A bit like the current CM issue.

I think for the most part he's been fine. Just a bit unlucky that the back four infront of him has constantly changed and that Fergie has preferred a keeper thats older and with better English in recent weeks to play behind a young defence.

He's made a few mistakes but that was always to be expected for a young keeper in his first season in a new league.

We had other options on the wings when we signed Ronaldo plus he was a no brainer. Anybody with half a football brain could tell he was going to be something else.

I always used to think A3U had some kind of deep routed issue with Fletcher and that was why he always talked so much shit about him. Like Fletch had fecked his mum over the kitchen surface and not dettol'd it before making him a sandwich or something.

Turns out he's just a bit of an idiot. Who knew?!

No, we paid that fee because in 5 years De Gea will be worth more than that. We paid that because that was all Athletico would accept for the most promising keeper in World Football.

 FFS

Must remember that one for again.

I'd label the same at De Gea.

And we have other options in goal.

What did we have on the wings again? as back-up to Ronnie? If I remember rightly we resorted to playing a striker out there as we had so little options after Becks. Or is it David Bellion you mean?

I don't get where this lashing is coming from. If the reports of issues with his vision are indeed true, then it is also holds true that he was not dropped out of the boss' lack of confidence with him.

He had a very good run before the Blackburn game. Keep your fecking trousers on.

The idea was to play Ole there as first choice with Ronaldo eased in but Ole got injured early in the season and was out for the season.

Fletcher was oft used on the right that season as where several others temporarily. Don't remember Bellion getting many games but he would have had a few.

Exactly, so a forward as a winger and after him a central midfielder, after him a non-footballer. Loads of options.

When we sold Becks, according to All 3's logic we made a balls up by buying Ronaldo instead of say, Nedved.

It's all about the big picture.
