That's all true but the main point you've made is him changing his game he was a good player before but not top class. It's really the last thing we need is another average midfielder who is not top level. The old Fletcher by God I'd take him as he'd improve us no end but not a substandard one is what I'm trying to say.

We don't really know how he'll cope though. He has the experience, good ability and obviously fantastic character to come back again from his problems so I think he has a chance.

Great that he's on the bench. No point in calling him out for an SOS or expecting anything. All in good time.

Definitely showed a lot of class on the ball. But the true test will obviously come when he has to play in a more difficult scenario.

Will be a massive bonus if he stays fit though.

Looked our most accomplished midfielder once he came on!...Fantastic to see him back, genuinely didn't expect it to happen in all honesty.

Didnt expect him to slot in as easy as that, I must admit. Looked confident when on the ball or when looking for it, solid passing. Would be great to have him back, even every 2nd game at first.

Never in any doubt.

We've missed the things he can bring to our midfield. He's underrated for his passing ability and his defensive work is always very good. I'd like to see us give him another opportunity soon. If he's truly ready he'll be a terrific option.

We looked so comfortable in midfield after his introduction. Nice cameo. Don't want to get too far ahead, but a midfield trio of Carrick-Fletcher-Kagawa can be very good. Of course, we still need to go and buy a good CM, but for time being, such pairing can work. Even replace Kagawa with Rooney as AM when RvP is fit and it will give a decent look to the side.

Looked great. Ideal time to ease him back in. If he can get back to his best it will solve half of our midfield problems.

Buzzing for Fletch. Great, great stuff.

On the ball he's still the second best option we've got in midfield and if, if, he can maintain anything like the energy levels he used to have then we've still got a player in him. Obviously the true test will come when we're up against the better sides in high intensity games, but if there's one guy that can come back and manage it then it's him. I have no real expectations, I'm just praying he gets his just rewards.

If he can get back to being a reliable squad player I'll be chuffed to bits for us and him. He looked confident today, didn't maraud around, just used his experience.

You've got to wonder where he would be in his development had he not had the illness. I think alongside Carrick he'd be a definite starter.

Great to see him back. Kept things simple and tidy but it was apparent that he doesn't have the tempo for PL football yet. Defensively he looked behind the play, as was the case during his last comeback.

Nevertheless fanastic to see him in a United shirt again. Deserves it.

Looked really really good when he came on. Made himself available and played some neat passes forward. Great to see him back

Didn't look too quick. Hopefully that will come as he's probably a way off full fitness still.

It was the other side I was more worried about. Whether after so little football in so long he'd remember how the thing works. Looked very comfortable on the ball.

Good to see him get 20 minutes under his belt, hopefully he can get an hour at least on Wednesday.

He was ahead of Carrick when he was at his peak in terms of position in the team if I remember right. The criticism of them when they became the first choice combo was the lack of creativity which for me Fletcher was growing in to and as we've seen in the last few seasons, certainly something Carrick had in him. Carrick was probably going through his dip at that time. That Fletcher with the carrick of recent years and our midfield would be fine for all but the very best teams imo. We'd still lack that genuine star but they'd have been a very good combo imo.

Great to see him back, hopefully for good this time. Will take some time to get up to speed but he has a calmness about his passing where he'll look for different options which is something we've not see much off. Hopefully is fit to start in midweek.

He was on a different level to Carrick at the time of his illness. One of the most effective midfielders about.

Maybe making more of it in my head but he showed in that brief time he is a very good player. Don't think he will get back to the terrier but still think if fit can still offer a lot. You instinctively when he had space in front he didn't just stand around but took it forward.

Cautiously hopeful.

Couldn't be a better moment, especially after Carrick's injury. He knows where to pass and how play under pressure without too much of this constant, weird back pass stuff.

He's a big match player with tons of experience and if Moyes will succeed in rebuilding his old form, it's only going to help midfield which is one of this season's priority.

Better than Carrick at the time I might agree with but I wouldn't say he was at the level Carrick was last season.

I'd have him as the understudy to Carrick for the deep-lying midfield role ahead of any of our other midfielders. He's better on the ball than Jones, better defensively than Giggs, and better than Fellaini at everything other than being tall.

It'll be interesting to see if he can regain the fitness and agility to play his old role, too.
