Is healthy "for good" ? I am ashamed to not have followed him that carefully in the last few weeks but I'm really to have seen him play again.
It would and let's see how his body reacts in the omoing months.Very happy to see him, despite having wondered for a while if he should be pushing himself to play again!it would be good to see him play a part vrs stoke - maybe from the bench
Not a bad return. His passing reminded me of our new 28m signing.
This. Was around the 80th minute mark I think where he came looking for the ball when the only other option for Rafael was to hoof itto be honest that little spell when he was in charge of these little exchanges in the middle. we managed to pass out of trouble and create a chance because he was making himself available for a simple pass.

Now the big question is will he be able to start a game, and if so when?
If he's starting reserve games and was able to come on today then you would think that if it's going to happen at all it should happen pretty soon.
Wednesday hopefully.
The game on Wednesday is perfect in theory, but I think it's a bit too soon to let him start a game, unless we plan to take him off after 50-60 minutes.

He's been in training with the first team for well over a month right? Along with the reserve games? I won't be surprised to see him start on Wednesday.Hasn't he started reserve games?
Surely from here on the only way of getting that fitness back up to peak level is to actually throw him in at the deep end.
You've got to feel a bit sorry for Fellaini
Signed in the summer as our 4th most expensive player ever yet it looks like he is our 6th choice midfielder now with only Anderson behind him.
Well he was injured on Sunday and I think he's cup tied for this one. (open to correction)
I realise that but it's been pretty clear that even when not he has been behind the likes of Carrick, Cleverley, Jones and Giggs and now he's going to have Fletch ahead of him too.
Yeah. I think that he does need to get an uninterrupted run of games to let him settle in the side which is something he hasn't got. I thought he was very good actually in his last appearance and would hopefully kick on but then he goes and picks up a knock just as the door was open with Carrick being out. Sad really.
Also, if we do buy another midfielder in January which I expect us to then he could find himself further down the pecking order.
I'm not convinced it will be in January unless it is someone like Gundogan who is of the quality we need and has missed all of Dortmund's campaign so far. Spending another £25m+ on someone like Herrera who could easily make the same sort of impact Fellaini has to me is a risk not worth taking.

He'll have to do pretty well, pretty soon in order to earn that run. Carrick will be back soon and I don't think he and Fellaini are a good duo, really. The big fella really needs to step it up or the odd game is the best he can get.
It's a squad game at the end of the day. Everyone will play their part and he will get opportunities.
As people have said, brilliant to see him back out on the pitch yesterday. Received a great reception from our fans when he came on. He played well when he came on as well and looked composed on the ball. His attitude is absolutely immense.
As I say, great to have him back.
I seriously doubt he'll ever be back to the 'super-fit' run everywhere midfielder he once was. Regardless of his injury, he's just older now.
If Fletcher is going to have a 'real' role in the first team, for me it's going to be the Ole of midfield subs. He reads the game very well, and is intelligent in a footballing sense, so spending 60 mins on the bench will give him plenty of time to work out how he can help the team when he comes on.

This. If he can get back there, great. But I'd be fine to see him doing what he was last game and providing experience and some solidity in the middle. To be honest I'd be happy with him just sitting there in midfield. He's calm on the ball, got a good touch and can certainly pick a pass so I don't think there's any need for him to be that box-to-box guy he once was.
I dont want to be the one pissing in the punch bowl but I still find it hard to believe he is going to get back to the level required to be a regular starter for us - certainly not if he is to be the saviour of our midfield woes. I will be beyond delighted to be wrong about that, it would be fantastic to have that solution in-house and he seems like a decent bloke who has gone through a hell of a lot. It would be great for the club if the loyalty it has shown him is rewarded as well, if it encourages others to show similar commitment to players struggling with these kinds of issues. But I suspect he may need to move on to find a club more suitable for his new level. I think we need to aim a bit higher than someone who just sits being calm on the ball, or who's principal attribute is his experience. Experience is all well and good, but ideally for us we need someone with experience coupled with very high levels of ability.
I just think its easy to get ahead of ourselves after half an hour against a poor Villa side. But its true, if he gets to 75% of what he was, he will be good enough to be in our squad as things currently stand.
