he’s now free kick maestro
I remember it used to do my head in when we had Nani on free kicks as I can't remember him ever scoring one. Turns out we had a free kick maestro on the pitch who never got a look in.
What could have been if only he insisted on taking them earlier in his career.I'm sure they said it was only the fourth freekick he'd taken in the Premier League and his first goal.
Scorer of great goals but not a great goalscorerHe's scored some stunning goals in his career because he has that quality.
He's a Kanu regenScorer of great goals but not a great goalscorer
He also invented pressing before pressing was a thing
He was never premier league proven though. Never scored more than 9 premier league goals in a season for us. Always in and out of the team when he was fit. Rarely played as striker and rather on the wings where he wasn’t the best.
Think he's onto 70 now, which proves the point. You'd expect a player of his class to have at least 100. Would be nice if he could have a few top seasons now and break double figures. Looks in great nick for his age tbf.Scorer of great goals but not a great goalscorer

Has now scored 3+ goals in 11 PL seasons. Kane only managed 10. Salah will likely finish on 8. His longevity is underappreciated.
Really is this easy. And the second paragraph makes the first all the more disappointing, because you'd just love to see someone like him truly make it at United! He just doesn't have the instincts to be a prolific or even regular scorer, had a couple of chances in this half to put the game to bed and not taken them.
However, he really is an excellent footballer, good physical qualities, technically adept, but also works for the team and is tactically adaptable. If he was even a 12-15 goal a season guy he would still be at Utd or Arsenal if he had avoided injuries.
Definitely. I always hated what LVG did to the squad with his transfers in and out.Sad truth is that Welbeck would instantly improve Utd as the starting CF.
How did we get to this point, with all the money spent that a guy who was deemed surplus to requirements years ago and is deep in his wind down years can have that said about him.
Suppose we could ask Johnny Evans.

Giving Welbeck away was something I was really mad at LVG. I mean, back then he wasn't very popular amongst fans as he really didn't score enough. The good thing about him was how much of a runner he was, always busy. A very modern striker in that particular regard, in terms of scoring not so much though. When he left, I feld it took until Cavani to have a striker back in our team, that was willing to run for others... We were left with Rooney and RVP in the later stages of their careers - actually a pretty damning embodiment of what United would have to go through from then on... Big names and hope hope hope...Definitely. I always hated what LVG did to the squad with his transfers in and out.
And assists.Welbeck shaping up to get his 6 league goals very quickly this year, fair play.
Not that difficult these daysScored the same amount as us now.
Stretchered offHe’s not as talented as RVP but he’s having an RVP like career where he was injured the majority of his best years but has somehow become less injury prone in his twilight. And he’s having nice success because of it
fecking hell really? That’s very sad. He’s been in brilliant form this season.Stretchered off
Bit harsh haha. 350 pl apps and 42 games for your country is fairly illustrious, surely!?Just watched Match of the Day and heard the commentator referring to his "illustrious career". Ok, calm down mate.
