Danny Welbeck to Sunderland (Loan Watch)

The suspension would prevent him from being selected from the next game he would ordinarily be available for I'm guessing, so the fact that he's already ineligible to play against us doesn't use up his suspension in that hypothetical scenario.

I think.
 
Oh I miss-read it, its a hypothetical question. I'm guessing if the player is classed as inelgible then the suspension would carry over.
 
i think its a first team match the team plays.. so he would be available for the game after united-sunderland despite being unavailable for it

That's not quite correct:

Playing in these big games is what I came to Sunderland for and it will be a bit frustrating to have to watch. It’s harder watching and I get more nervous watching. I came off with something like 10 minutes to go at Liverpool last weekend and they were the longest 10 minutes of my life. We were getting a good point and I just wanted the referee to blow! I’m still looking forward to Saturday, though. The Stadium of Light is a great place to be on matchdays and I’m sure the atmosphere will be great.”

I think so too. Remember how Drogba blatantly deliberately took his fifth yellow in the game before he went to the ANC so that he would serve his PL suspension while he was away on international duty (and ineligible for the PL).

Good attitude to have, and he'd be stupid to say anything different while he's at Sunderland
 
Thought he was brilliant today, as I think he's been since pre season. Would love to have him here, I would have him ahead of everyone except Rooney and Berba, possibly even ahead of Rooney due to his current form. The guy just oozes class, has everything. I'm just unbelievably excited to have him back.

Once Sturridge went off in the second half, thought he was really good when he was up top alone. Fantastic work rate, close control and bought free kicks as well as being a presence. Just havn't got a bad word to say about him and delighted he's beginning to fulfil his immense potential this year.

I'm not particularly worried about that. What is he, 19/20? At that age prolific goal scorers such as Henry, Drogba, Van Nistelrooy and Villa were struggling to put it all together. What I see is that the talent, technique, brain and physique are all there. Sky's the limit, I genuinely feel he could become one of the best players in the world.

cool, someone i could fully agree with in their opinion on Welbeck! he is the most exciting of all the young ones at the club
 
I didn't understand why DW was sent on loan and Macheda kept. For me Danny is the better alround player and a year older.

Attitudes. Danny needs football and to learn how to use his body and other attributes to the best of his ability. Macheda already does this but he has other things to learn. He's also a cocky get (or coatto as he might say :D) and Fergie feels he needs to keep a close eye on the lad.

Loans are not about who is worse player. Both players could probably use a loan, but the at the moment Welbeck is also good enough to play regularly for Sunderland which makes his loan deal great.
 
Macheda's more likely to produce something coming from the bench. He's had bigger influence on our results despite being younger than Danny. As SAF put it, Kiko is a "hard bastard". You need such type of character when you need a goal or two.

Fair enough. Notiwthstanding your points, I just think that DW has the wherewithal to serve the first team better than Macheda right now.
 
He was very good yesterday and seems to be getting stronger by the month. Fingers crossed his knee troubles are a thing of the past.

But he needs regular games in a way I'm not quite so sure Macheda does, and if he had stayed he wouldn't have played enough. Danny's also always been a 'fancy' player for want of a better word and I think being in a no nonsense mid table team will give him a much better idea of when it's the right time to pull off his tricks and flicks etc and when to keep it simple than being with our first team would.

I agree he needs to score more goals however for me he's not a striker he is a forward. I don't think he will ever be prolific as I see his natural position being out wide and I beleive he will eventually become the type of forward who gets on rare occasions roughly 15 goals max in a season.

I don't see him getting more than that regularly as he is the type of player who does he best work outside the box, dropping into the channels and crossing or from deep threading passes. I don't think he should be used as a loan striker except in emergencies(the choice of him or Delfonesso qualifies as an emergency) I think if he get played through the centre then to get the best of him you need a target man ahead of him.

Agree with all of that but nationality also comes into it. It's not a big ask for Danny to settle in another city in the North of England.

For Macheda it might have been a wrench to uproot him again, after leaving friends/family behind in Italy. He's probably starting to feel at home in Manchester, so it's best to keep him there for as long as possible. I often wonder if sending young Rossi off to the North-East was a factor in him hankering after a move back to the continent.
 
Played very well for Sunderland in this game so far, both his attacking and defensive work has been very impressive. Stole the ball off Samba which led to his red card as well.

Yeah we sent Wilshere off to Bolton but didn't send some of the foreign guys in the same position (Merida fecked off anyway). It's hard enough being an 18-year-old in a foreign country with only your club around you - must be really isolating to go to Bolton or Sunderland.
 
Thought Welbeck had a really good game, can't remember him giving the ball away once and was very neat and tidy. His defensive work was also very good, so pleased to see he is finally realising his talent.

I'm not so sure about that. You'd think that in the long run, a point and a man suspended for one game would be more attractive than the prospect of having to turn a game around from being 1-0 down against a team that isn't considerably weaker.

I thought he was neat and tidy but was rarely a threat to Blackburn and again he seemed to loiter around the edge of the box rather than try and get on the end of the crosses too often.

You just want him to express himself a bit more at times, he seems to be a bit inhibited at the moment.

Thing is he's a young player getting his first regular run of football in the premier league. Before this season he had started one game, of course he's not going to be fully expressing himself, he's going to be trying to make sure first and foremost he's not making mistakes. In spite of that every time I've seen Sunderland play this season he's been fantastically effective in their formation and I think the fact he is keeping the £13 million pound Gyan on the bench speaks volumes.
