There's liking him and theres being completely irrational about him and his sale, which you've always been.
He was my favourite player we had. I thought (and still do think) he's destined to do well.

He wouldn't. Martial is a better player than him and he'd probably play crap for us.He'd be a starter for us if he was fit this year.

I think a good number of the investment are good, but the managerial appointment was the one that affected players performance.
Why the feck cant people be pleased for a young, English player, who has grew up in our academy?
He didn't want to be here because his place in the team was taken up by Falcao.
Awful awful decision.
It's a multinational forum. Who cares it he's English? I don't.
On our books we had:
Rooney- in decline but had managed 35 or so goals and assists under Moyes and had been given a new contract
Van Persie- the lead goal scorer in World Cup qualifying and scorer of 4 World Cup goals under van Gaal
Falcao- a player who was regarded as one of the top strikers in the world before his injury
Plus Hernandez sent on loan and Wilson.
£16M was a fantastic price, I don't blame the club for getting rid whatsoever. Has Welbeck done anything that's been so impressive as to make you think him staying would have made a sufficient difference?
I do. Similarily, I'm pretty sure your quite happy when an Irish player does well in the EPL. Maybe i'm wrong.
He wasn't bad under SAF though, was he? He's just not striker-material.
Based on that season starting i said on this forum I'd have him ahead of anyone else we have attacking wise and I think he went on to justify that based on the other three.
Yes I would be happy for them but I wouldn't expect others to be given this forum is so diverse.
You were pleased he scored a last minute winner for Arsenal? What the feck
The thing is Martial, Di Maria, Depay, Falcao weren't bad investment in the attacking department at the time. Added to what we had(Mata, Rooney, Rvp, etc.) our attacking option weren't that bad. Once again, with better management these players beside Falcao would have done better. The managerial side of things is atrocious, yes. Our investments have been ok but the lack of attacking players we brought in after letting so many go is unforgivable. Until we invest in some decent attacking players, these ridiculous Welbeck threads will keep on rolling out.
Best piece of business Woodward has done was to get 16M for this guy.
Yes. Hes an english ex united player i'd rather we still had at the club returning from a long injury 4 months before the euros start and scoring. We're not competing for league position with arsenal so whether they win or lose is irrelevant to us.
I dont expect other to be happy. I really couldnt care less. What I dont expect is the people that are happy for him to be questioned every time this thread gets bumped.

Oh I agree 100%. We looked potentially in a great position attacking wise by the end of the summer of 2014. I was referring to the summer just gone when we badly needed investment in the attacking department.
You do realise it's weird being happy for a rival team scoring a last minute winner to keep them going strong in the title race? Can you honestly not see how that riles people up?
What always wrangles with me is how he said that the reason he sold Welbeck was that he was more a substitute player and was hindering the progression of Wilson. Plus he brings in a lame duck like Falcao.
Unfortunately as we've found out since, LVG has no idea what he's doing. What always wrangles with me is how he said that the reason he sold Welbeck was that he was more a substitute player and was hindering the progression of Wilson. Plus he brings in a lame duck like Falcao.
Haha, true. Since then Wilson has started how many games for us? Two, maybe three? Absolute joke!
Weird. For one, I'm Irish so the English thing is a moot point for me. Secondly, I don't generally celebrate or feel happy when the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea or City score last minutes winners that enhance their title chances. Each to their own.
Tbh, I was a huge fan of him here and was against us selling him. But I don't think he's done anything to prove me right since he's left, all in all I've been incredibly underwhelmed with him at Arsenal; last minute winner today included.
Completely agree with this. Not worth dwelling on anymore but the fact is he'd walk into our starting line up this year just as he did when SAF was here for all the big games. £16m was a bargain for Arsenal for an England regular. WBA are turning down £20m+ bids for Berahino.

Freaking Welbeck. He had to score on Leicester of all teams.
Edit: People still miss him? He's scored 9 goals for Arsenal FFS.

Academy local lad
Played really well for us for years
Was discarded too quickly instead of being given a chance to grow
Lovely to watch play.
