no arm around the racist..

Does seem to be feeling Milner's arse though...

Looks ready to be an established first choice for England. Hopefully Hodgson will play Welbeck and Rooney together against Ukraine. At last we might have a decent strike partnership.

Pleasing to see non-United fans who don't watch him every week praising Welbeck's performance today. The thing is, I don't think that was actually him at his best and I think there is alot more to come from him in this tournament.

Certainly lead the line well.

We need to be a bit braver in attack and give him some support. Then we'll get the best out of him. I thought he did as well as could be expected against France and justified his selection. Carroll wouldn't have looked anywhere near as useful with so little service.

Impressed with Danny again, he did really well and always looked lively and progressive when he had the ball, plus he ran tirelessly. Certainly did enough to keep his place against Sweden.

I am really hoping a lot of the ABU's stand up and take note of Welbeck at this tournament.
It could give him some supreme confidence and on talent alone deserves to be there.

Never have I watched a footballer with so much promise get panned by the ABU masses.. (well maybe Ronaldo but he was a bit of a cnut at times with the diving) Danny is an all round top bloke and solid footballer.

So happy for the lad.

Biggest insult to Danny is...casual observers and haters simply assume that he is an athlete...big, strong, quick. But Welbeck is so much more than that...his footballing ability and the intelligence he displays on the pitch is wonderful to see.

Doubt many of the haters see him play more than 5 times a season either. Its just those tired old cliches. See a big strong striker and immediately draw the conclusion that its all there is to his game.

His footballing ability/technique is actually his strongest assest. While not slow, he's not super quick and for a decent sized lad he's not overly strong. His ability to read the game and find space is fantastic. Being able to drop deep and run in behind is a great asset.

Very proud of a United lad leading the line for England.

Is there some bell end pretending to be Welbeck on twitter? I saw an account which Valencia follows but no-one else from the team, which is suspicious. Surely all the lads would be following him. Whoever it is keeps moaning about being called a fake...which I'm guessing they are

Anybody know if Welbeck is actually on twitter?

I think it is somewhat a given these days to see young players develop as chunky pacey nugget athletes. Compact players who are whippy and it's evident in their style.

Danny's just leggy and agile. Not technically a naturally gifted mover but still a very smart player. I like the fact that the little cocktail of inadequacies are spread rather than deficient in one single area. It underrates him slightly and also the guy is a seriously smart footballer and that is evident in his game and at this level it is excellent to see.

Some people are so ABU they just don't see his raw potential and that to me is sad.

Welbeck is not on Twitter.

I was under the impression that he was extremely quick, no?

I think he is very quick, but his long legs give off a impression he maybe isnt quite as fast.

At full pelt he sure does get shifting.

Yeh he's quick. I know it's a "typical" caf comparison but when he runs he's quite similar to Kanu. His long gangley legs make it look like he's going slowly but actually he's motoring on at a pretty quick rate.

He's no Nani, Ronaldo, Hernandez etc but he's no slouch.

I think SAF also compared him to Kanu, so you are okay on that.

Chicharito is not quick.

Chicharito is not quick.

Hernandez is a rapid forward. Speed is one of his best attributes and is a large part of why comparisons have been drawn between him and Michael Owen back when he was in his prime.

If you fluke a goal like that, it's still a good goal. If you mean it, it's genius.

I wasn't sure to begin with but it looks like he's a genius.

Of course he meant it, you could see by his look, he immediately turned around to see if it's going in.
